Summary
Synopsis
“That woman pretended to be a good person in front of me—gentle and considerate. But behind my back, she’d light a cigarette, flick her finger, and send the ashes and embers spiraling down. I swore I’d strip off her skin and show everyone her true face. But later, when she stood naked in front of me, I couldn’t see anything bad; she was all good… unbelievably good, in fact.”
…
Meng Zhengyue married into a new family, but before she even got her marriage certificate, her rich wife died in her bed. The news was an immediate sensation, with reporters from all over the city clamoring to get the story. Afterward, she became the epitome of care and warmth, doting on the rich woman’s daughter.
The daughter, who harbored a deep-seated hatred for her, began by spying on her. But day by day, she became lost in Meng Zhengyue’s gentle embrace. She longed to inherit her, but realizing the widow had no interest in her, she began to resent her deceased mother.
One day, the widow fell ill with a high fever. The girl timidly knocked on her door and asked, “Can I sleep with you? I’m afraid of the dark.”
Meng Zhengyue gently coaxed her and let her sleep beside her. The girl contentedly wrapped her arms around her, pressing close to feel her high temperature. “You’re so hot,” she said. “Let me cool you down.”
The next morning, Meng Zhengyue woke up undressed, her lips swollen and moist.
Later, the girl asked again, “Can you teach me to kiss? I want to start dating.”
The woman coldly refused, placing her hand on the girl’s lips. “No.”
“Please look at me. I really don’t know how,” the girl pleaded, crying as she hugged her.
“Be a good girl.”
Meng Zhengyue was met with a passionate, all-encompassing kiss. Finally, she was pulled into the bathroom, where water splashed everywhere. With red-rimmed eyes, the girl’s desire was both excited and urgent. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I’m really bad at kissing.”
…
Later, Yun Zhixue did manage to peel away the layer of skin she had so desperately wanted to. The woman leaned against the bed, exhaled a cloud of smoke, and brought the cigarette back to her lips. Yun Zhixue leaned down and carefully fastened a bracelet onto her wrist. It coiled around her, a silver serpent clinging to the woman’s fair skin.
Meng Zhengyue cursed her, “You little brat.”
The burning tobacco flickered, its ember glowing. Meng Zhengyue looked down and gave a lazy, dangerous smile, as if she wasn’t the one trapped, but the other way around. Even though she was restrained, she curled her finger, beckoning. “You want it, don’t you? Come here.”
…
