Decided to Forgive You After Getting Drunk - Chapter 2
A one night stand turning out to be her direct superior could anything be more dramatic?
Song Xian quickly ducked her head, her mind spinning rapidly. At this moment, all she hoped was that Xiao Yutong hadn’t seen her. At least not yet.
Everything had happened too fast. She needed time to process.
“Director, the new girl from the design department has already reported in this morning,” Zhou Yao said to Xiao Yutong before turning to look for Song Xian among the line of new employees. Not seeing her, she called out, “Xiao Song?”
Song Xian had been named. There was no escape now. Bracing herself, she stood up from the back of the line.
“Hello, Director,” she greeted.
Though inwardly in turmoil, she maintained a calm exterior.
Xiao Yutong happened to look over at her at the same time. Their eyes met. Song Xian clearly noticed her freeze momentarily, a flicker of surprise flashing through her eyes, but it disappeared quickly. In a cool tone, she said, “Welcome to the design department.”
Throughout the entire meeting, Song Xian couldn’t take her eyes off Xiao Yutong. Xiao Yutong, too, occasionally glanced her way. Every time their eyes met, they would awkwardly look away.
They had both believed they’d never see each other again, so neither had held back the night before every glance, every touch, every word had been uninhibited.
And the more open they’d been that night, the more awkward things were now.
When working, Xiao Yutong was all business, cold and composed. Though she seemed strict, she wasn’t as terrifying as the others had made her out to be. In fact, she had a unique charm.
Looking at Xiao Yutong’s face, so alluring and commanding, Song Xian suddenly recalled how she’d begged her for mercy the night before.
Even as Xiao Yutong spoke during the meeting, her voice conjured up the whispery moans from last night in Song Xian’s memory.
The meeting lasted about an hour, summarizing the last project. Despite her wandering gaze, Song Xian had paid attention. She now had a basic understanding of the design department.
After the meeting, everyone returned to their workstations. Xiao Yutong went back into her office. Song Xian suddenly found the office layout quite appealing her seat happened to have a direct line of sight into the director’s office.
“Xiao Song, the director wants to see you,” Zhang Xin said, heading straight to her from the office.
Around her, colleagues gave her sympathetic looks, as if she were being sent to a firing squad.
Zhang Xin gave her shoulder a gentle pat and warned, “Be careful. The director didn’t look too pleased just now.”
“Thanks, Sister Xin. I’ll be careful,” Song Xian replied.
Finding out that Xiao Yutong was her boss had indeed been shocking, but beyond the shock was a thrill. She had been wondering how to create a chance to be alone with Xiao Yutong and now, the director had taken the initiative.
Song Xian thought to herself: What if Xiao Yutong tries to use her authority to coerce her into being her secret lover?
Should she say yes… or definitely yes?
With all eyes on her, she walked into the director’s office.
As soon as she entered, Xiao Yutong pressed the remote control for the blinds. The office quickly turned into a private space.
“Sit,” Xiao Yutong said without looking up, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk as she read through a file.
“No need, Director. I’ll stand,” Song Xian replied.
“Song Xian,” Xiao Yutong said, finally looking up. She leaned back in her chair, eyes scanning Song Xian up and down before getting up and walking around the desk to stand beside her.
The series of movements was slow and sultry in Song Xian’s eyes, impossible to look away from.
Xiao Yutong leaned closer, her voice low as she whispered in Song Xian’s ear: “About last night…”
She figured that was enough. People who do one-night stands should know the rules especially someone new to the company, standing in front of the so-called “She-Devil” director. Speaking out would do Song Xian no good.
But Song Xian met her gaze without a trace of fear and replied, “I remember everything from last night very clearly every detail.”
Xiao Yutong’s expression darkened, her brows drawing together. “You do realize,” she said coldly, “that with just one word from me, you’ll be out of this company?”
Was this workplace bullying?
Song Xian smiled meaningfully and pulled something from her pocket—a button. She had no idea why she’d brought it, but something had told her it might come in handy.
Her eyes dropped from Xiao Yutong’s gaze down to her chest. Today, Xiao Yutong wore a light blue shirt and a tight pencil skirt. Her figure was stunning, her waist slim easily wrapped in one hand.
Not just an estimate. She knew this firsthand.
Song Xian swallowed unconsciously. So full…
“Song Xian, where are you looking?” Xiao Yutong snapped before she could see what was in Song Xian’s hand.
“Oh? Changed your outfit, huh?” Song Xian grinned, holding the button up and waving it in front of her.
Xiao Yutong’s face darkened even further. She had rushed out of the hotel that morning and only realized she was missing a button when she got home. Thankfully, she’d worn a jacket or it would’ve been a wardrobe disaster.
She had hoped to chalk up the night to mutual indulgence, pretend it never happened, and maintain a professional relationship.
But who would’ve thought this cheeky troublemaker would end up working under her?
“Director Xiao,” Song Xian said, “I know it’s entirely up to you whether I stay or go. But you see, I’ve got a little quirk. Last night, while you were sleeping, I… recorded your beautiful silhouette.”
She wiggled her phone with pride.
Xiao Yutong: “…”
Had she just encountered a pervert? No this was a full-blown criminal. Should she call the police? But what if Song Xian caused a scene first?
Then the girl laughed.
“You actually believed that?” Song Xian teased. Seeing the horrified expression on Xiao Yutong’s face made her burst out laughing. So cute!
“Don’t worry, Director. I know the rules.” Song Xian zipped her lips with the hand holding the button, promising silence.
“But I’m keeping this,” she added, referring to the button. “It’s proof that you slept with me.”
Xiao Yutong, in her thirties and usually always in control, found herself completely bested by a young upstart.
Of course she wouldn’t stand for it. She lunged for the button, but Song Xian was quicker. She shoved it into her pocket and strolled out of the office, grinning like she’d just scored a victory.
Xiao Yutong clenched her fists and exhaled a long breath to calm herself before returning to her desk.
This recent business trip had been a double hit. She’d successfully completed a big project, but during the trip, she’d discovered her girlfriend no, now ex-girlfriend was engaged.
Worse, that woman had the audacity to say: Even if I’m married, we can still be together.
Did she think she was some kind of goddess or a billionaire CEO?
Why would Xiao Yutong ever agree to be someone’s mistress?
She hadn’t loved her deeply, but the betrayal felt disgusting like she’d swallowed a fly.
So after returning from the trip, she went out drinking, trying to numb her mind.
And that’s when she ran into Song Xian.
Having just joined the company, Song Xian was treated kindly by her colleagues. No signs of workplace bullying so far.
Zhou Yao gave her a stack of files past projects to help her learn more about the company and, more importantly, the infamous director.
She’d done some homework before joining, so the documents didn’t take her long to go through.
After that, she was idle. With the blinds in the director’s office now open, she could glance up anytime and see Xiao Yutong working.
Chin resting in her hand, she stared.
So charming. So beautiful. So… sexy.
Her mind wandered back to earlier: Xiao Yutong’s shirt had a button undone, her delicate collarbone visible, sparking all sorts of fantasies.
The design department was unusually relaxed today since they had just finished a big project after weeks of intense work.
They’d earned a short break.
From Song Xian’s point of view, Xiao Yutong wasn’t as heartless as people claimed. The way others laughed and joked in the breakroom proved that.
Morning passed quickly. The company had no cafeteria, so Song Xian was about to order delivery until she learned the hard rule:
No food deliveries allowed.
Apparently, it was Xiao Yutong’s policy. Employees could only bring lunch from home or eat at nearby restaurants.
Song Xian didn’t get it. What’s the big difference between takeout and packed lunches?
She left with Zhang Xin and a few colleagues. Just before they exited the building, Song Xian noticed Xiao Yutong still sitting at her desk.
Office hours had long passed. The only two people left were her and the director.
Workaholic? Song Xian wondered. Does she work until she drops? Skip meals?
Should she be ready to dash in heroically, save Xiao Yutong just as she collapses from hunger, and win her heart in the process? The ultimate workplace romance?
The fantasy made her laugh out loud.
Zhang Xin looked at her strangely.
“Sorry,” Song Xian said, chuckling awkwardly. “Just remembered something funny.”
They stepped out of the elevator together. On the way, Zhang Xin introduced various nearby restaurants and shared lunch stories.
Song Xian kept up effortlessly. The two hit it off.
They eventually picked a place to eat. Inside, they ran into two more colleagues.
Over lunch, one of them suggested visiting the new mall across the street. Zhang Xin and the others were immediately on board anything was better than heading back to face Director Xiao.
When they asked Song Xian, she hesitated, then declined, claiming she had something to take care of.
She couldn’t miss this rare chance Xiao Yutong was still in the office. A private moment? Yes, please.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yutong was struggling with her post-project summary report. It usually wouldn’t take long, but she kept spacing out alternating between cursing her shameless ex and imagining Song Xian’s smug face holding up that button.
So what should’ve taken two hours stretched into over three. She hadn’t even eaten.
Her phone buzzed twice.
It was Liu Qianwen.
Liu Qianwen: Tongtong, don’t be mad. Please think about what I said.
Liu Qianwen: By the way, you must come to my wedding. I want you to see me in my dress.
The more Xiao Yutong read, the more furious she became.
She had never seen someone with such thick skin.
Fine, she thought. Since you’re so sincere in inviting me, I’ll graciously fulfill your wish.
Her expression shifted to a dangerous smile.
A wicked idea began to form.
Her fingers tapped rapidly across her screen.
Xiao Yutong: Don’t worry. I’ll be there.
Xiao Yutong: With a special gift just for you.
