This Director Is Not To Be Trifled With - Chapter 21
Song Xian’s eyes were filled with red veins, shimmering with crystal clear tears. Her heart felt like it had been stabbed by a sharp sword, aching painfully as she looked at the indifferent woman in front of her.
Xiao Yutong said, “Is there anything else between us besides sleeping together?” To her, Song Xian was just one of many prey.
Song Xian forced a bitter smile and let go of Xiao Yutong. She had thought that Xiao Yutong liked her at least a little, that there was love between them beyond just s3x, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Xiao Yutong was a chosen prey among the masses to Song Xian, but how was Song Xian not also prey to Xiao Yutong? Perhaps Xiao Yutong only saw her as medicine to heal a broken heart, but Song Xian had fallen in love genuinely.
Xiao Yutong had expected Song Xian to make a scene but never imagined it would be like this. Seeing Song Xian so heartbroken, did she really hurt her? Did she truly make her sad? Though hesitant, her rational mind stopped her from raising her hand to comfort Song Xian.
She clenched her fists tightly, nails digging into her skin. She dared not look into Song Xian’s eyes again, nor stay there any longer. As soon as Song Xian released her, she hurriedly escaped the scene.
After closing the door, she exhaled in relief. It should be fine. Song Xian would surely be able to adjust her emotions. Even if not, a few drinks and a good sleep would make her feel better, right?
She knew that wasn’t really the case, but still comforted herself that way.
“What are you doing?” Xiao Qiang asked as she noticed Xiao Yutong leaning against the door, acting a little off.
Xiao Yutong composed herself and said, “Nothing.”
“Do you think you can fool me? I’m your mom, you know. So, you slept with that girl and she showed up at our door?” Xiao Qiang casually ate grapes.
It was just a casual remark, but Xiao Yutong’s expression told her she might be right. “Really?”
“I.. I’m going to work.” Xiao Yutong hurried into her bedroom and then quickly left.
Xiao Qiang knew her daughter well. Whenever Xiao Yutong lied or did something wrong, she always acted like this. Last night she sneaked back late and said she was working overtime. Xiao Qiang felt something was off back then. Turns out she was up to something bad.
Her daughter had always been well-behaved and obedient, making her worry less, but precisely because she was so sensible and independent, it made her feel heartache. Thinking back, coming out must have been the most rebellious thing Xiao Yutong had done in these thirty years.
Maybe disrupting her original life and stepping out of her comfort zone would bring a different life. People’s lives shouldn’t be written on a schedule forever!
But the girl from this morning looked so young, with a tie on, probably underage. It’s okay to play around, but absolutely can’t break the law!
The commercial shooting location was at a countryside resort. Xiao Yutong didn’t go to the company but drove directly there. She left late today, and when she arrived, everyone was almost ready.
She glanced over and saw Song Xian holding her phone, taking pictures with Zhang Xin. She looked completely different from the wronged and angry girl from that morning her recovery was surprisingly quick!
The CEO of Liloca also came personally to watch the shoot and said that if the results weren’t satisfactory, they would reshoot immediately.
Coincidentally, there was news that the photographer got into a car accident on the way here. The injuries weren’t serious, but they definitely wouldn’t make it today. Everyone was troubled because it was hard to find a photographer skilled in portrait shooting on short notice.
The Liloca team arrived immediately, and they had no time to find someone else. Xiao Yutong gathered everyone together, but no one recognized a good photographer. Xiao Yutong knew one but they definitely couldn’t come now.
Just as everyone was stressed out, Zhang Xin raised her hand and said, “We have a photographer here.”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Zhang Xin. She shyly raised Song Xian’s hand. “It’s Song Xian. Her photos are really good.”
People expected some clever idea from Zhang Xin, but when they heard it was Song Xian, they all sighed. Their disdain was obvious. Zhang Xin stubbornly showed them the photos Song Xian had just taken for her.
“Not bad!”
“It is good, but can this work? There’s a difference between a camera and a phone, right?”
Xiao Yutong was curious too. She gestured for Zhang Xin to hand over the phone. The photos were indeed good might as well try since they had no other option.
She looked at Song Xian, who smiled but the passionate gaze she had earlier was gone. Facing everyone’s expectant eyes, she replied faintly, “I can try.”
Song Xian took some shots of the model and showed them to Xiao Yutong. The angles and lighting were well chosen. Nobody expected Song Xian to have this photography skill.
The photographer issue was solved. The Liloca boss arrived her name was Shen Qingjia, forty years old. Rumor had it she had a secret lover, a college student.
Xiao Yutong and Yao Mingkai accompanied her to watch the entire shoot and selected some photos.
Throughout, Yao Mingkai mainly talked with Shen Qingjia. Xiao Yutong occasionally joined in but mostly watched Song Xian. She adjusted angles, sometimes guided the model’s poses. During the break, she chatted happily with the female model, even placing her hands on the model’s waist.
It seemed the morning’s incident didn’t affect her at all.
The commercial included a set of photos with a same-s3x theme requiring two female models. Shen Qingjia frowned slightly when the two models appeared.
“Director Shi, is there something wrong with the shots?” Xiao Yutong had already collected the photos from Song Xian and noticed Shen Qingjia’s odd expression.
Shen Qingjia said, “The photos themselves are fine, but don’t you think these two models lack chemistry?”
“Lack chemistry?” Yao Mingkai squinted and leaned in. He thought they looked pretty.
Xiao Yutong looked over them and nodded. “They do seem to lack some chemistry.”
She gestured to Zhang Xin to bring another model and tried pairing them twice more, but no one was satisfactory. They all felt something was missing between the two, though they couldn’t say exactly what.
Because of the models’ problem, shooting couldn’t continue for now. Song Xian stood alone by the fountain, flipping through photos on the camera. When serious, she looked quite cold and aloof.
Not only Shen Qingjia was dissatisfied, Xiao Yutong also was. If something wasn’t perfect, neither the client would accept it, nor would she hand over imperfect work.
She was scrolling through photos from the modeling agency on her phone, unable to find that certain feeling. Unintentionally, she walked to the fountain and accidentally bumped into Song Xian, who was looking down at her camera.
They both looked up and locked eyes. At that moment, the fountain’s four jets sprayed water upward, fine droplets surrounding them. Under the sunlight, a rainbow shimmered around them.
Everyone’s eyes turned toward the two. Shen Qingjia seemed to catch something, quickly took out her phone, snapped a picture, and smiled satisfied. She handed the phone to Yao Mingkai, “Director Yao, see? That chemistry is here.”
Yao Mingkai didn’t quite get Shen Qingjia’s point, but he knew she wanted those two.
Song Xian remembered what Xiao Yutong said this morning and immediately avoided her gaze, taking the camera and walking away. She handed it to Zhang Xin and went to the restroom.
She really felt this time Xiao Yutong meant it truly wanting to clear things between them, even though it hurt to let go. This was the first time she had genuinely had feelings for someone. Last night when she told Xiao Yutong she liked her, it was sincere.
Though she had said that to many people before, she knew the difference. When Xiao Yutong responded, her heart had soared with excitement and joy. That moment she realized what liking someone truly felt like.
But her sincere feelings were met only with Xiao Yutong’s casual game just words said when desire struck. Maybe it was karma. Didn’t she do that to many others? Why couldn’t she accept it when it happened to her? She was really a jerk.
Looking at her reflection in the mirror with an emo expression, she felt less and less like her former self.
She called Jiang Chen, hoping to drink together tonight, but that person was out of town visiting her sister. Some happy families, some sorrowful ones.
She looked through her contacts. So many friends, but at crucial moments, no one to confide in. Fine, this time she really became a lonely old lady.
Song Xian touched up her makeup. Zhang Xin called, telling her to hurry back because Director Yao wanted to see her.
Yao Mingkai conveyed Shen Qingjia’s wishes to Xiao Yutong and Song Xian. Xiao Yutong hesitated a bit, but Song Xian said she was fine as long as Director Xiao agreed.
Sometimes, you just have to bow in front of the client.
Originally wanting to keep some distance from Song Xian, now a new binding tie appeared. Strangely, she felt a bit secretly happy.
Since Song Xian became the model, they would have to find a new photographer, so today’s shoot couldn’t continue. They could only shoot other parts first. Xiao Yutong felt restless all afternoon.
Even though Song Xian spoke to her as before, smiling as usual, it felt different. They really had become boss and subordinate.
But wasn’t that what she wanted? So why did she feel disappointed?
Because it took some time to return to the city, work ended promptly at 5:30 pm. The company arranged two cars to take employees back.
Song Xian also went with everyone in the morning and left together.
When boarding the car, Xiao Yutong called out to her, “Song Xian.” They moved a few steps away from everyone to talk privately.
Xiao Yutong said, “Tomorrow, come with me. Then you won’t have to go to the company.”
Song Xian replied, “Thank you, Director Xiao, but no need. I’ll just go with everyone.”
