Desert Island Girl (Pure Lily) - Chapter 3.2
Suddenly, while Xiaoyang was silently mourning in her heart, she saw a pale, bluish arm near Tingting’s feet…
Damn!
Startled, Xiaoyang instinctively jumped back.
“Ting… Tingting! Under your feet…”
“Hm?”
The young girl looked at Xiaoyang curiously.
She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and said helplessly, “I’m fine, senior… You don’t need to comfort me. Don’t worry…”
“No, there’s a corpse next to you!”
“…”
Tingting blinked in confusion, then looked down at the bluish arm buried in the sand.
She raised her head again, put her hands together, and smiled at Xiaoyang.
“Oh, you’re right…”
With that, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted cleanly.
Yi Yun and Jiang Ning were startled—mostly by Tingting’s reaction.
Yi Yun quickly caught Tingting from behind as she fell.
The girl’s soft, elastic body pressed tightly against Yi Yun’s chest, which felt surprisingly comfortable…
Seeing someone faint, Mu Mu stopped searching for supplies and jumped down from the bow, landing in a perfect “superhero” pose.
“What happened to her?” Mu Mu asked as she approached.
“She might have been hungry all day and got scared by the corpse, so she fainted,” Xiaoyang guessed.
The girls discussed and decided that Jiang Ning and Yi Yun would carry Tingting to the shade of a tree across the beach to rest.
Meanwhile, Xiaoyang and Mu Mu circled the wreckage, throwing some bodies that were starting to bloat back into the sea, giving them a “sea burial.”
After all, they had to live here for a while.
Keeping corpses around would not only be unsettling but also unhygienic as they swelled and rotted.
Burning them? The sound of sizzling flesh would be too much for them.
Burying them? It would take too much time and effort—and at night, seeing so many eerie graves would creep them out…
After thinking it over, a sea burial was the easiest option.
Holding back nausea and fear, Xiaoyang finished dealing with the last body.
She squatted by the sea, washing her hands countless times before returning with Mu Mu to the tree.
In the shade, Tingting’s face looked peaceful as she rested her head on Yi Yun’s lap.
Jiang Ning stood beside her, gently fanning her with a large leaf like a servant…
“Damn it, making this lady serve a commoner…” Jiang Ning muttered, her expression resentful but her hands never stopping.
She occasionally glanced at Tingting to check if she was waking up.
Mu Mu pulled Xiaoyang closer.
“How is she? Is she better?”
“She hasn’t woken up…” Yi Yun shook her head gently.
Their conversation might have disturbed Tingting.
As soon as Yi Yun spoke, Tingting let out a soft moan, her eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly woke up.
As she opened her eyes, Yi Yun’s impressive southern hemispheres filled her view.
Tingting’s face turned red, and she quickly struggled to stand.
She bowed slightly to the other girls, full of apology.
“S-sorry! I fainted! I delayed everyone’s progress. I’m really… really sorry!”
“What are you talking about?” Mu Mu said in her usual expressionless, quiet way.
“Supplies are for people’s sake—your safety is much more important than supplies. It’s my fault too. You said you were scared, but I still brought you here. Your fainting is partly my responsibility.”
“No, no!”
Tingting waved her hands quickly.
“It’s because I’m too timid… Th-thank you, sisters, for taking care of me!”
Feeling a strong gaze from her side, Tingting turned and saw Jiang Ning looking at her with hopeful yet slightly aggrieved eyes…
After a slight pause, Tingting noticed the large leaf in Jiang Ning’s hand and recalled the cool breeze she felt while unconscious.
She smiled awkwardly.
“Ah… it was Sister Ning fanning me earlier, right? Wow, I’m so lucky—I woke up thanks to Sister Ning…”
Jiang Ning immediately put one hand on her hip and flicked her hair confidently.
“Hmph, no big deal… Even if you’re trying to flatter me, this lady won’t get happy over something like this—stop trying to please me…”
“Is… is that so…” Tingting smiled with her eyes curved.
Seeing everyone was fine, Xiaoyang felt relieved.
She smiled at Tingting.
“Tingting, you just woke up. Why don’t you rest on the beach first? There might still be corpses here.”
“But everyone…” Tingting hesitated.
Mu Mu handed Tingting a dagger.
“It’s okay, listen to Xiaoyang. You’re weak right now, so it’s best to rest. Take this dagger for self-defense. We’re not leaving you idle, right? We’re entrusting you to look after our clothes and food.”
“Protect yourself, commoner. Watch closely and see how upper-class people search for supplies,” Jiang Ning said proudly, tossing her hair.
Ever since Tingting praised her, she had unconsciously started acting like an “all-powerful rich older sister” in front of her.
Yi Yun sighed softly.
“Yeah, you’re so weak now, you can’t carry much. If you faint again midway, we’ll have to take care of you. Rest assured and recover, then come help when you’re better.”
Unable to resist their insistence, Tingting took the dagger, nodded to everyone, and headed back.
“Where’d you get the dagger?” Jiang Ning asked Mu Mu curiously, watching Tingting’s retreating figure.
Mu Mu was naked and hadn’t carried anything earlier.
“I picked it off a corpse on the deck—don’t tell Tingting,” Mu Mu said.
“…” Jiang Ning looked at Tingting’s distant figure, feeling a bit of pity.
After a pause, Mu Mu clapped her hands lightly.
“Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s get to work. Xiaoyang and I will search for the bow. Ning’er and Yun-jie, you search the stern. Bring down anything useful for the island!”
Each girl agreed, and the four split into two teams, heading toward the bow and stern respectively.
