Desert Island Girl (Pure Lily) - Chapter 5.2
She looked at the bed boards under Mu Mu’s arm and the desk she dragged, smiling with concern and helplessness.
“Why take so much, Mu Mu? Take less, don’t exhaust yourself.”
“A lot?” Mu Mu asked.
Mu Mu blinked, confused.
“I’m already trying to save energy. I was going to take all four boards at once,” she said.
“Is… is that so…” Xiaoyang said.
Xiaoyang forced a smile.
Carrying so much and “saving energy”?
Mu Mu… are you even human?
She teased internally but, seeing Mu Mu’s soft armpit holding the hard bed boards, couldn’t help but say with concern, “Be careful, Mu Mu. You’re not wearing clothes—don’t let splinters poke you. Want to wear this for now?”
Xiaoyang shook the uniform from her bundle at her.
“No thanks,” Mu Mu said, shaking her head.
“It looks too small. By the way, need help with your bundle? It looks heavy.”
“What? No, no, I’m fine!” Xiaoyang said, waving her hands quickly.
Was this girl not carrying enough already?
Xiaoyang didn’t want to tire Mu Mu out!
“Alright…” Mu Mu said, seeing Xiaoyang’s surprising determination and not pressing further.
Watching Mu Mu drag the heavy items forward without a change in expression or heartbeat, easily hauling them up the stairs, Xiaoyang followed behind, silently marveling.
When Mu Mu hugged her tightly earlier, it was a miracle her bones didn’t break…
On the deck, the ship’s height above the ground meant dropping items could break them on the beach.
So, the two searched around and found a large pile of elastic ropes used for securing cargo.
They tied the desk securely, hooked it with a clasp, and Mu Mu slowly lowered the rope from the deck until the desk reached the ground.
Then, Xiaoyang ran to the beach, untied the rope, and moved the desk to a safe spot away from the seawater.
Climbing up and down between the ship and the beach was troublesome, so Mu Mu initially wanted to unload for Xiaoyang.
But since Xiaoyang lacked Mu Mu’s strength and couldn’t hold the rope well, Mu Mu gave up.
They transported all the items to the ground the same way.
The two girls returned to the cabins and thoroughly searched all the crew dormitories, piling a huge stack of supplies on the deck.
Afterward, Xiaoyang stayed on the beach to unload, while Mu Mu kept tying and sending items.
Their clear division of labor made them highly efficient, and in about two hours, they moved all the supplies off the ship.
“Phew… finally done,” Xiaoyang said.
Wiping her forehead, Xiaoyang put one hand on her hip, looking at the dazzling array of loot with satisfaction.
Mu Mu jumped down from the deck, kicking up a lot of sand, and looked at Xiaoyang.
“How’s it going, Xiaoyang? Tired?” she asked.
Dodging the flying sand, Xiaoyang smiled helplessly.
“Just unloading here, how could I be tired? You’ve been moving stuff, Mu Mu—that must’ve taken a lot out of you.”
“Me? I’m fine… I don’t feel much,” Mu Mu said, blinking and scratching her head.
Xiaoyang gave up teasing.
Maybe that’s just how some people’s bodies worked…
Sweating slightly, Xiaoyang took a deep breath.
“Let’s inventory the supplies. It’s getting late, and by the time we get them back, it’ll be dark. I’m also worried about Tingting alone. Let’s call Yi Yun and Jiang Ning to stop searching for now and go back to the beach to find Tingting. Tonight, we’ll reassemble the bunk beds and use the bedding and pillows to camp out. Once we’re fed and rested, we’ll come back tomorrow. What do you think, Mu Mu?” she said.
“Mm… no problem,” Mu Mu said, still quiet, speaking little when there was nothing urgent—a trait Xiaoyang was getting used to.
After counting, Xiaoyang and Mu Mu made a rough list.
The first afternoon’s search yielded:
– 12 desks
– 12 small standing wardrobes
– 48 sets of bedding and pillows
– 12 liquid crystal monitors
– 12 microphones (with cables)
– 48 wooden bed boards
– a pile of bed frame parts
– two bundles of sailor uniforms, underwear, shoes, and other clothing
– several bottles of body wash and shampoo
– some used soap and toothpaste
– a few rolls of toilet paper
– some hair clips
– a bundle of teapots, water cups, and mugs
– a stack of books
– various snacks
– a large pile of elastic ropes.
Overall, the haul was impressive!
They didn’t find a tent, but they had plenty of beds and bedding to keep warm at night.
Body wash, toilet paper, and other daily necessities were essential.
Unfortunately, they found no tarps, so rain would ruin everything…
Though worried, Xiaoyang could only pray for good weather until they secured the supplies.
After the inventory, Mu Mu picked up a wardrobe, and Xiaoyang grabbed the clothing, preparing to call Yi Yun and Jiang Ning to stop searching and return to the beach to find Tingting.
Before she could speak, a cry came from the top cabin of the nearby shipwreck.
Jiang Ning’s voice, tinged with tears, called out, “Xiaoyang! Mu Mu—! Can anyone hear me—? Help—! Sob…”
Mu Mu and Xiaoyang exchanged a glance, their hearts sinking.
Without a word, they dropped the supplies and ran toward the wreck, heading for the top deck where Jiang Ning’s cry came from.
