Destined Hearts of Mu and Yu (GL) - Chapter 37
“Careful, the sweet soup will spill.” Wei Hanyu shifted lightly, avoiding Qin Mu’s burning lips. She was thankful the library was dimly lit, hiding the redness in her cheeks.
“One day without seeing my Sister Hanyu, and I missed you so much.” Qin Mu refused to let go, her lips brushing Wei Hanyu’s soft earlobe as she sighed. If time could stop at this moment, she wished she could hold Wei Hanyu like this forever.
“Mu’er, if you feel lonely, I will come keep you company tomorrow afternoon.” Wei Hanyu set the food box on the table and turned, her gaze soft as she tucked back a strand of hair at Qin Mu’s ear, her tone full of gentle affection.
“No. I want you to stay with me tonight.” Qin Mu shook her head and pulled Wei Hanyu closer, staring at her intently.
“Tonight?” Wei Hanyu frowned slightly, biting her lip. In the flickering candlelight, her beauty seemed even more alluring.
“Yes.” Qin Mu nodded seriously and guided Wei Hanyu to sit on a chair beside her. “Tonight I want to read through all these books.”
“Oh.” A faint disappointment flashed in Wei Hanyu’s eyes, gone so quickly that Qin Mu did not notice.
“Sister Hanyu, will you keep me company?” Qin Mu tilted her face upward, staring at her with unhidden longing. No matter how much she looked, she could never tire of her beauty. When weary, just one glance at Wei Hanyu was better than any medicine.
“Mu’er, staying up late harms the body. Come back with me. You can read these tomorrow.” Wei Hanyu patted her cheek softly.
“There will be more books to read tomorrow too. If I don’t finish these now and I’m asked something I can’t answer at court, it won’t be good.” Qin Mu wrinkled her nose, shaking her head. Just then, a sudden dryness rushed through her nose and two streaks of bl00d dripped down. Wei Hanyu quickly pulled out a silk handkerchief to wipe it, frowning.
“Mu’er, if you keep neglecting your health like this, what will become of you?”
Qin Mu tilted her head back, letting Wei Hanyu carefully wipe the bl00d away. To her, the nosebleed meant nothing—having Wei Hanyu’s care made her heart feel sweet.
“Mu’er, drink this sweet soup first, it will cool your fire.” When the bleeding stopped, Wei Hanyu stood, took out a bowl of sweet soup from the food box, and handed it to her. Watching Qin Mu gulp it down quickly, her eyes softened with relief, a faint smile curling on her lips. Seeing that Qin Mu still had no intention of leaving, Wei Hanyu took her hand, led her away from the desk, bent down to blow out the candles, and spoke firmly:
“Come back with me.”
Her tone was commanding, leaving no room for refusal. Qin Mu followed as they slowly walked toward the bedchamber. A gentle breeze carried Wei Hanyu’s fresh fragrance from her bath, making Qin Mu sigh from the heart.
“Sister Hanyu, you smell so good.” Wei Hanyu glanced back, seeing Qin Mu’s dazed gaze, and her cheeks flushed slightly red. She gave her a light glare.
“Smooth talker.”
Qin Mu hurried up, looping her arm around Wei Hanyu’s and saying seriously, “But it’s true. I bathe every day too, yet I don’t smell like this.” She lifted her pale arm to Wei Hanyu’s nose for her to smell. Wei Hanyu swatted it away.
“Nonsense.”
Even so, Qin Mu rested her head on Wei Hanyu’s shoulder, breathing in her scent, unwilling to let go.
“Why are you so shameless?” Wei Hanyu sighed helplessly at Qin Mu’s clinginess.
“I can be even more shameless.” Qin Mu leaned in and pecked her lips. Seeing Wei Hanyu’s wide-eyed shock, she quickly pressed another kiss, this time deeper. Her arms circled Wei Hanyu’s slim waist, feeling her curves pressed tightly against her. Her tongue slid lightly across Wei Hanyu’s teeth, greedily tasting the sweetness of her lips. Her nose brushed her soft skin, cheek against cheek, seeking closeness everywhere.
Only when Wei Hanyu began lightly pounding her shoulder did Qin Mu finally let go, gazing at her flushed face with infatuation. Watching her chest rise and fall, Qin Mu felt heat rush through her whole body, pulling her into another tight embrace, unsure how else to release the desire inside.
***
By the time they returned to Biyue Pavilion, the night was already deep. After her bath, Qin Mu lingered outside Wei Hanyu’s bedchamber, too nervous to enter. The thought of sharing a bed with her tonight made her bl00d race. Since their kiss, it felt like a floodgate of desire had been opened inside her. Each time she saw Wei Hanyu, the urge to possess her grew stronger, and she scolded herself for being too lustful.
As she hesitated, the door opened. Wei Hanyu’s calm gaze met hers, steadying her panic. Qin Mu lowered her eyes, avoiding direct contact.
“Mu’er, if you don’t sleep soon, the sun will rise.” Wei Hanyu’s soft voice tugged at her heartstrings. Qin Mu dazedly followed her inside. The flickering candlelight by the bed made her heart burn hotter.
She watched Wei Hanyu lie down, taking off her outer robe, leaving only thin underclothes that revealed fair skin and a delicate collarbone. Qin Mu swallowed hard, then stiffly sat by the bed. Though it was autumn, her body felt feverishly hot, sweat dampening her back. Removing her own outer robe, she lay down like a wooden puppet. Seeing Wei Hanyu’s back turned, she inched closer, breathing in her fragrance until she smiled with satisfaction—without realizing how tightly she had pressed against her.
“Mu’er.” Wei Hanyu’s low voice called.
“Mm?” Qin Mu thought she was asleep, but quickly leaned in, eager to hear her words.
“Don’t lie so close.” Wei Hanyu turned, her deep eyes meeting hers. Her glistening lips made Qin Mu want to taste them again.
“Sister Hanyu, I can’t sleep.” Qin Mu wrapped her arms around her waist, burying her head in the crook of her neck. Her body burned with heat.
In the dark, she suddenly felt Wei Hanyu guide her hand upward—onto her full curves. Qin Mu’s mind went blank, and before she could speak, her lips were captured by Wei Hanyu’s soft kiss. Her eyes widened, every cell in her body bursting with excitement. The sweetness on her lips and the softness in her palm left no doubt—Wei Hanyu was responding to her.
Could it be… Sister Hanyu couldn’t sleep either?
At that thought, Qin Mu’s heart raced wildly, her body trembling with joy.
That night, she experienced something she had never felt before, yet somehow felt achingly familiar.
***
When she awoke, the bed beside her was empty. A brief loneliness lingered before she dressed, but her lips still carried a sweet smile at the memory of last night. Judging the time, she guessed Wei Hanyu would soon return from court, so she hurried to the garden pavilion, hoping to meet her among the flowers.
But someone was already there. It was Su Wanying—the one always opposing her. Qin Mu hesitated, only to see Wei Hanyu in bright red court robes walking back. The moment Su Wanying saw her, she eagerly stepped forward. Wei Hanyu’s eyes narrowed slightly, still calm, yet she spoke with her in low tones.
Qin Mu’s chest tightened with unease. She was no fool—Su Wanying’s intentions were clear. Did Wei Hanyu not see it? Jealousy burned in her heart. She held back, watching silently—until Su Wanying’s slender fingers touched Wei Hanyu’s shoulder, her gaze full of intimacy. Qin Mu could no longer endure it. Sister Hanyu is mine. No one else can touch her.
Face dark, she rushed out. Su Wanying smiled faintly, while Wei Hanyu only showed brief surprise before her usual calm returned.
“Little eunuch, do you not know the rules? Seeing Her Highness, yet no bow, no greeting.” A maid beside Su Wanying sneered arrogantly.
Qin Mu glanced coldly at Su Wanying, then bowed slightly. “Peace to Your Highness.” She turned and stood by Wei Hanyu’s side, meeting Su Wanying’s gaze head-on, unflinching. If you have business, face me—not my Sister Hanyu.
“Mu’er, why are you not at the library studying?” Wei Hanyu’s calm voice broke the tension.
“I wanted to see the flowers with Sister Hanyu.” Qin Mu replied. At her frown, she grew uneasy, only to hear Su Wanying’s laugh behind her.
“You’re too late. The Princess already promised to stroll with me.” Su Wanying swayed her hips as she walked closer, placing her fingers on Wei Hanyu’s shoulder like a declaration of ownership.
“Flowers aren’t only for two people to enjoy.” Qin Mu shot back, pulling at Wei Hanyu’s sleeve, her eyes pleading. “Sister Hanyu, will you come with me too?”
“Flower viewing can wait. With the exam so close, you should return to your studies.” Wei Hanyu patted her shoulder gently, her voice soft but leaving no room for argument. Qin Mu could only glance again at Su Wanying’s smug look, her heart full of bitterness, before leaving in defeat.
Watching Qin Mu’s retreating figure, Wei Hanyu’s eyes grew dark and unreadable.
“If the Princess can’t bear it, I can leave,” Su Wanying teased softly from behind.
Wei Hanyu’s gaze deepened. Turning, she asked coldly, “What was it you wanted to say just now?”
