Destined Hearts of Mu and Yu (GL) - Chapter 62
Wei Hanyu propped herself up, watching Qin Mu writhe in misery from the bitter medicine. Her slender fingers turned the spoon gracefully as she asked faintly,
“Do you still want me to feed you?”
Her willow brows arched, red lips slightly parted, and her cold eyes fixed on Qin Mu, carrying a charm that could steal one’s soul. But Qin Mu’s will was firm. She shook her head like a rattle-drum, shrinking back.
“No, I won’t drink it. Too bitter, I won’t.”
“Oh?” Wei Hanyu’s brows lifted slightly, her eyes glinting with mischief. She leaned closer, her voice low.
“Then I’ll have to feed you myself.”
Her body leaned in, carrying a chilling aura. Qin Mu swallowed hard, quickly snatching the bowl from her hand. Better short pain than long suffering, she thought. Pinching her nose, she downed the entire bowl in one gulp.
The moment she finished, her tongue stuck out in agony, stained black by the herbs. Seeing this, Wei Hanyu covered her lips with a laugh.
“Sister Hanyu, this is murder by poison,” Qin Mu groaned, fanning her tongue desperately. But then a soft fragrance drifted toward her. She opened her eyes—and found Wei Hanyu’s flawless face just a breath away.
Her heart thudded wildly. Memories of their kiss came rushing back: those lips soft and fragrant, her nose brushing against her cheek, the tingling sweetness making her face burn red.
“Do you want me to kiss you again?” Wei Hanyu asked, brow arched, hands braced on the bed, lips curved in a teasing smile.
Qin Mu immediately grew wary. “There isn’t more medicine left, is there?”
But Wei Hanyu hooked a finger under her chin and leaned in. Her lips pressed against Qin Mu’s. The soft warmth made Qin Mu forget all resistance. Even if it had been poison, she would have swallowed willingly. She wrapped her arms around Wei Hanyu’s slender waist and deepened the kiss.
Wei Hanyu’s tongue was sweet and supple, brushing lightly against hers, tugging at her pounding heart. The bitterness in her mouth vanished, replaced with a honeyed taste, fragrant and sweet as sugar. Qin Mu’s chest swelled with bliss. She clung tighter, greedily inhaling Wei Hanyu’s scent, her whole body flooded with warmth.
But soon, Wei Hanyu pulled away. Qin Mu stared at her, dissatisfied, her lips glistening and face tinged pink, more alluring than ever. Wei Hanyu smiled softly.
“Mu’er, was the honey sweet?”
Qin Mu licked her lips unconsciously and murmured, “So that’s what it was… honey.”
“You didn’t taste it?” Wei Hanyu chuckled, finding Qin Mu’s dazed expression irresistibly cute. She tapped her forehead with a finger in mock reproach.
“Oh no,” Qin Mu said gravely, feigning worry. “This medicine hasn’t ruined my sense of taste, has it?”
At this, Wei Hanyu’s laughter stopped. Concern flickered in her eyes. She cupped Qin Mu’s cheeks gently. “You really can’t taste it?”
Qin Mu nodded with a troubled look. Wei Hanyu stood, ready to summon the imperial physician—when Qin Mu tugged her sleeve, grinning slyly. Only then did Wei Hanyu realize she’d been tricked. But before she could react further, Qin Mu pushed her down onto the bed.
Pulling the hairpin from her head, Qin Mu let her dark hair cascade like silk across her fair face. Too beautiful. Wei Hanyu tried to rise, but Qin Mu pressed her shoulders down with a wicked smile.
“Wife, don’t bother resisting.”
“It’s daytime,” Wei Hanyu protested, her cheeks flushed like peach blossoms. As she struggled, her slender neck arched gracefully, stirring Qin Mu’s desire. Unable to restrain herself, Qin Mu lowered her head, brushing kisses against her skin, breathing in her intoxicating scent.
Day or night no longer mattered—beauty was in her arms. Qin Mu wanted only to savor it.
Of course, indulgence had its cost. By the next morning, Wei Hanyu had caught Qin Mu’s cold.
When Wei Yanhang came to Biyue Pavilion to find Qin Mu, he was stunned by the sight before him.
Both Wei Hanyu and Qin Mu sat on the bed together. Qin Mu cradled a quilt in one arm and held a steaming bowl of medicine in the other. The two women exchanged glances, then lowered their heads to drink at the same time.
Wei Hanyu finished with barely a frown, but Qin Mu set down her bowl and wailed like she was dying.
“Grand Tutor Qin, Imperial Sister… I’ll be taking my leave,” Wei Yanhang muttered, edging back, convinced this place was the source of the plague.
But Qin Mu beckoned him over. He quickly covered his nose with a sleeve and stopped ten paces away.
“Grand Tutor, if you have something to say, just say it.”
Qin Mu sighed, black lines forming on her forehead. “Your Highness, weren’t you the one who came here looking for me? What’s the matter?”
“Oh, right!” Wei Yanhang slapped his forehead, remembering. “Tomorrow morning, the officials will gather at the eastern gates to welcome the envoys from the Desert Kingdom. Father will personally greet them and host a banquet that night in the palace.”
“What a grand occasion,” he added in awe.
Wei Hanyu frowned. “The Desert Kingdom has grown strong these past years. Now that they seek alliance, Father naturally must make a show of it.”
But recalling Qin Mu’s abduction there, her face darkened.
Wei Yanhang continued, “I heard the envoy is a woman—a princess of the Desert.”
“A woman?” Wei Hanyu’s eyes sharpened. She turned to Qin Mu, silently questioning why she had never mentioned a princess.
Qin Mu’s heart skipped. She coughed twice and quickly echoed, “Right? I only saw rough men there. Who knew they had a princess?” She forced a clueless look, playing along.
Wei Yanhang chuckled in relief. “Good. If she’s a woman, then even with my poor archery, I won’t lose face against her.”
Qin Mu smirked and pointed at Wei Hanyu. “Your Imperial Sister is also a woman. Surely your archery surpasses hers, no?”
At once Wei Yanhang’s smile vanished. He glanced nervously at Wei Hanyu, then paced the room in distress.
“Grand Tutor, we’ve been so focused on dealing with Lu Xu that I forgot all about the competition the day after tomorrow. What do I do?”
“Don’t worry. There’s always a way,” Qin Mu said calmly.
“What way?!” His brows slanted in despair. Sometimes he really couldn’t stand Qin Mu’s habit of keeping secrets.
But she only pointed to herself.
“Secrets of Heaven cannot be revealed,” she said with a sly smile.
After Wei Yanhang left, Qin Mu sighed. Tomorrow morning she could plead illness to skip the welcome ceremony, but the evening banquet she and Wei Hanyu could not avoid. If the Desert Princess recognized her as a woman, and worse, revealed that she was the Crown Prince’s consort—things could spiral into chaos. Just thinking about it made her head ache.
“Mu’er, what troubles you? Has your cold worsened?” Wei Hanyu touched her forehead, only for Qin Mu to clutch her hand and plead,
“Sister Hanyu, can I skip tomorrow’s banquet?”
“If you truly don’t wish to go, then don’t,” Wei Hanyu said gently, stroking her cheek with a tender smile.
“…I’d better go.” Qin Mu sighed, leaning against her shoulder. If Wei Yanhang could win the Desert Kingdom’s alliance, it would strengthen his position. But if the princess mentioned anything from the past, Hanyu might misunderstand. The thought alone made her want to bang her head against a wall.
“Mu’er, do you have secrets from me?” Wei Hanyu asked softly.
“Just hold me,” Qin Mu murmured, arms open in a childish plea.
“You’re too old for such antics,” Wei Hanyu teased, but still embraced her gently. Qin Mu closed her eyes, breathing in her warmth and fragrance, as though drawing strength from her.
When she opened them again, she whispered, “I want you to give me a child soon.”
Wei Hanyu blinked, caught off guard. “A boy or a girl?”
“Either. As long as it’s ours.” Qin Mu grinned, already picturing a family of three strolling happily together.
Wei Hanyu rested her chin on her hand, eyes soft. “And if I get fat from pregnancy, will you stop loving me?”
Qin Mu’s eyes widened, stunned, making Wei Hanyu burst into laughter.
“How fat?” Qin Mu asked warily.
“Who knows,” Wei Hanyu said playfully, shaking her head with a mock sigh. Then she leaned close, whispering in her ear, “Mu’er, will you still love me then?”
Warm breath brushed her ear, turning it scarlet. Qin Mu saw the sly fox-like smile on Wei Hanyu’s lips and couldn’t restrain herself. She pulled her into her arms, kissed her deeply, and let her tongue speak for her heart—showing just how much she loved her.
