Devil or Angel (GL) - Chapter 38
“Hmph…” Hearing Zhiyu say she had a mother complex, Yiyang was definitely and absolutely unhappy: “Are you calling me immature, or are you indirectly calling yourself old! Please, you’re only four years older than me, okay? In what way do I see you as my mother? Don’t think that just because you’re in that kind of relationship with the old man, you’re my mother… General Manager Shen, your imagination is a bit too rich.”
“Uh… then why do you have those kinds of feelings for me? Could it be a delusion?” Zhiyu didn’t know what else about her could attract Yiyang besides that reason. Could it really be that she liked her only because she saw her body that day? If it was such a shallow reason, she would surely look down on Zhang Yiyang.
Yiyang didn’t know what she was thinking, only gazing into Zhiyu’s eyes sincerely: “Woman, I’ll say this one last time: I’ve known what I was doing from beginning to end. I can definitely tell you: I don’t have a mother complex! I told myself to treat you only as a friend, but in the end, I found I couldn’t, and I won’t. When I saw the message you sent, do you know how angry I was? I was genuinely jealous of that man.”
“Sigh, why are you so stubborn? You know perfectly well that we are impossible.”
“I know, I know everything! Whether you accept me in the end or not, just let me quietly stay by your side. Don’t push me away, okay?”
“As long as you no longer do those inappropriate things to me, I’ll reluctantly consider it.”
“What are inappropriate things? I haven’t done any!” Yiyang started to feign ignorance.
Zhiyu blushed and smacked her on the head: “You know perfectly well!”
“I really don’t know. Please enlighten me, General Manager Shen!” Yiyang found herself liking the sight of this woman blushing more and more, and couldn’t help but continue to tease her.
“I give up on you! It’s the kind of behaviour you did just now.” Zhiyu pointed to Yiyang’s and her own lips.
“Oh, that. Well, I’ll try my best.” Yiyang, of course, thought there was no way she could promise that. How could she remain calm around the person she liked? But to stay by her side, she had to endure.
“What do you mean, ‘try your best’? You must!”
“You’re really overbearing!” Yiyang muttered under her breath.
“What did you say?” Zhiyu asked, lightly pinching her ear.
“Ah, nothing… nothing.”
The two continued to talk quietly. Initially, Zhiyu was a little wary of Yiyang’s overly intimate actions, occasionally moving to the side, trying to keep a distance from her.
But a certain person clearly saw her intention: if you dodge, I chase. Eventually, she backed Zhiyu up against the edge of the bed, leaving her no way to escape. Seeing this, Zhiyu could only compromise and surrender.
Yiyang was satisfied and possessively pulled Zhiyu into her arms. The whole Lin Wei incident had completely messed up her emotions, but now, being next to this person brought peace to her troubled heart.
“Woman, don’t you think it would be great if we stayed like this until we’re old?” Yiyang said with feeling.
“How could I possibly stay with you until you’re old? You’ll have to marry someday.”
“You know I’m like that. How am I supposed to marry?” Yiyang really wanted to roll her eyes at her, but in the end, she was too afraid of Zhiyu to do so.
“Oh, that’s right. I’ve been reading up a bit on that subject recently. Given your appearance, marriage is impossible, so you should marry someone else!” Zhiyu said earnestly.
“Woman, so you’ve been doing research! You’re so cute! This means you’re slowly starting to care about me and are interested, right? Why don’t you humble yourself and marry me!” Yiyang burst out laughing at her serious expression.
Zhiyu’s heart skipped a beat at this statement: “Nonsense!”
“I’m serious. I really want to grow old with you. When we’re old, we can still be like this, sitting in bed, chatting, and reminiscing about our younger days. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?” Yiyang held her hand, interlacing their fingers, with a look of sincerity and infinite longing.
“Why are you so determined? Given our current circumstances, do you think that’s possible? Besides, what about Lin Wei?” Zhiyu felt what she was saying was fantasy; that day would simply never arrive. Furthermore, it was all just her own pipe dream.
Upon hearing the name Lin Wei, the sparkling light in Yiyang’s eyes immediately dimmed. If Zhiyu hadn’t mentioned her, she would have almost forgotten about that woman—the woman who silently endured everything and still held feelings for her. She felt a bit like a jerk, like those who find a new love and forget the old.
Feeling a pang of guilt, she withdrew her hand from Zhiyu’s and slowly lay down, curling up under the covers. Nearly two years had passed. She had spent two years trying to forget that woman and those memories.
Just when another woman who made her heart flutter finally appeared in her life, she was now being told that everything Lin Wei did was a lie. This left her feeling helpless. Could this love still continue?
Looking at the person curled up silently under the covers, Zhiyu sighed, lay down as well, and stared at the ceiling. After pondering for a long time, she finally asked: “Do you still love her?”
Love her? Yiyang simply didn’t know how she felt about Lin Wei at this moment. She had loved her back then, but when the person she currently liked asked this question, she didn’t know how to answer because even her own heart didn’t have a clear answer.
“You broke up due to a misunderstanding. Now that the truth is revealed, you should still be in love, shouldn’t you? In a lifetime, it’s not easy to find someone you love who loves you back. Don’t regret it when you miss the chance!”
After saying this, Zhiyu turned her back and closed her eyes. As an outsider, it wasn’t appropriate for her to say too much. It was better for the people involved to think it through themselves.
Just as Zhiyu was drifting off to sleep, she felt a person wrap their arms around her from behind: “Woman, I don’t know if I still love her, but at this moment, I know clearly that I love you! Give me some time. I will definitely handle my relationship with Lin Wei.”
Zhiyu had heard those three words countless times, but at this very moment, when a woman four years her junior said them again, her heart was no longer frantic. Instead, it was filled with a strong surge of emotion, a feeling that felt like both being touched and unease.
“Sleep,” Zhiyu finally managed to utter those two words, her voice slightly trembling.
Yiyang yearned desperately for a response from her. She knew it was a luxury, but she still hoped. The unprecedented tension made her hug the person in her arms tightly. How wonderful it would be if time stopped right now.
Upon hearing the completely non-committal reply from the person in her arms, Yiyang slumped in disappointment. Oh well. After all, they had only known each other for a few months. Besides, she was a woman, so it was only human nature that she would find it hard to accept right away.
At least the woman wasn’t strongly resisting her embrace anymore. She should be content with that. Wasn’t it a good start? The two were in the same bed but preoccupied with different thoughts. Yiyang gazed at Zhiyu’s perfect profile for a long time, repeatedly suppressing the urge to kiss her.
Zhiyu’s eyes were closed, but she could clearly feel the slight inhales and exhales of the person’s breath near her ear from behind. This made her so nervous she didn’t know what to do, and she couldn’t fall asleep.
In the latter half of the night, both of them eventually drifted off to sleep. Yiyang, having the beauty in her arms, enjoyed a rare night of sound sleep. However, her body clock still woke her up early.
At some point, their position had changed from back-to-back to face-to-face. Zhiyu was now quietly nestled against Yiyang’s chest, sleeping peacefully.
Yiyang slightly propped herself up and looked at the person sleeping next to her, watching her without blinking. So, everything last night wasn’t a dream. This person was truly here. To ensure she wasn’t dreaming, Yiyang even reached out and gently touched the woman’s cheek.
The sensation was truly unforgettable and addictive. Yiyang unconsciously rubbed back and forth with her fingertip. She saw a slight blush on Zhiyu’s face; she was truly beautiful.
Yiyang, having suppressed her urges all night, could no longer control her impulse. She told herself, Just once, just once is enough. She completely forgot the promise she made to Zhiyu last night, cautiously lowered her head, and lightly pecked the other person’s lips.
“Good morning, baby!”
She had said “just once,” but people are greedy, and Yiyang was no exception. Seeing that the woman was sleeping quite soundly, and operating under the assumption that she wouldn’t be caught, she kissed her several more times. She still didn’t feel satisfied.
Zhiyu felt a slight abnormality between being asleep and awake. She opened her eyes and saw a face right above her. Yiyang was still lingering when she sensed something was wrong. Thankfully, she quickly separated her lips, or it would have been too embarrassing to be caught in the act.
“What are you doing!” Zhiyu asked seriously, looking at the face right in front of her. She could tell by Yiyang’s expression that she hadn’t been doing anything good.
“I wasn’t doing anything. I just wanted to wake you up.” Yiyang giggled, slowly moving her face away and scratching her head.
“You’re lying!”
“No, really!”
“Psychology says that when a person scratches their head while speaking, it means they are lying and feeling guilty!”
Oh no! Yiyang thought secretly. The woman even knows psychology. How am I going to manage from now on? No small action will escape her sharp eye. Isn’t that a tragedy?
“Psychology isn’t accurate. It depends on the person. Maybe I just have an itchy head because I didn’t wash my hair yesterday, okay?”
Keep trying to reason your way out of it. Zhiyu didn’t bother arguing with the little kid. She threw back the blanket, got up, and prepared to go back to her room to change and head to work.
“Wait a second!”
“Your Highness, what is it now?” Zhiyu was starting to feel impatient.
Yiyang got out of bed and walked over to her, adjusting the collar of her pajamas until she was satisfied before signaling that she could leave. While Yiyang was doing this, Zhiyu followed her gaze and looked at her own clothes. It turned out the collar of her pajamas had shifted to the side while she slept, meaning her body had been observed by this little kid yet again.
