Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 10
After being wiped down, Shen Jueshu finally seemed to relax, her brows smoothing slightly. She stood up and sat back down on the bed. Then, as if she could no longer support herself, she leaned back and collapsed onto the bed, closing her eyes as though she were about to fall asleep.
Sui Yu: “……”
She slowly stood up and looked at Shen Jueshu lying on the bed. Walking over, she gently patted her on the shoulder. “Hey, if you want to sleep, go back to your room. What are you doing sleeping here?”
This woman was really too carefree. Facing an Alpha who had intentions toward her, did she really trust that nothing would happen?
But it seemed her voice disturbed Shen Jueshu. She turned over and stubbornly pulled the blanket over her head, looking just like a child throwing a tantrum and refusing to get out of bed.
Sui Yu was stunned by her reaction. She hadn’t expected Shen Jueshu to act this way after drinking. She didn’t continue to disturb her and simply stood there watching her quietly for a while. Then a thought crossed her mind—if the original “Sui Yu” had never appeared, what would Shen Jueshu’s life have looked like?
She had loving parents. Even though the company eventually faced hardship, with her abilities, she would have led it out of crisis. She would have become the envy of all Omegas and the pride that made every Alpha feel unworthy.
Yet all of this had only come after so many hardships brought on by the original “Sui Yu’s” appearance.
After tucking the blanket in for her, Sui Yu began exploring the basement again. Everything here truly matched what she’d once described:
A secret base.
There was a computer, a television, internet—everything fully equipped. In one corner, there was even a stash of food and water. Anyone who didn’t know better would think she was preparing for the apocalypse and this basement was her refuge.
She chuckled at her own thought and walked toward the stairs, wanting to figure out how to get in and out. She still didn’t know why Shen Jueshu had brought her down here in the first place.
At the entrance, she carefully explored her surroundings and suddenly noticed one brick on the wall was rougher than the rest. She tried pressing it. A muffled sound rang out, and the door in front of her slowly opened.
Peering out, she saw it led directly to the main hall. Blinking, she confirmed this was indeed the switch. She pressed it again, and the “door” promptly closed once more.
Worried about the person lying inside, she turned around to head back down—only to be scared nearly to death!
“What are you standing there for?!” Sui Yu’s voice cracked slightly. Anyone would be terrified to suddenly run into such a gloomy face! And the woman walked without making a sound!
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond. She walked past her, pressed the brick again, and left the room.
Seeing her do that, Sui Yu didn’t even have time to question if she was really drunk. She hurried after her, worried Shen Jueshu might shut her in there. Even though she now knew where the switch was, who knew what other tricks Shen Jueshu might have to prevent her from getting out?
Once outside, Sui Yu watched Shen Jueshu walk into the kitchen and pour herself a glass of water. She truly didn’t know what to think anymore—was this woman drunk or not?
Although it was unclear whether Shen Jueshu was truly drunk, she certainly appeared quite sober at the moment. Sui Yu, now feeling tired herself, simply greeted her before heading upstairs to her room to sleep, not planning to stay and entertain her any longer.
What Sui Yu didn’t know, however, was that after she left the room, Shen Jueshu took out her phone and tapped a few times. Instantly, an image of Sui Yu appeared on the screen.
She had installed a surveillance camera in Sui Yu’s room!
Rubbing her aching head, Shen Jueshu stared indifferently at the screen, watching Sui Yu pull back the blanket and get into bed without any unusual behavior. After a while, finding nothing of interest, she switched off the phone. Her expression shifted between calm and troubled.
Even though she now suspected that Sui Yu might no longer be the same person as before, she still couldn’t let her guard down. When it came to Sui Yu, she always felt it was better to be overly cautious than caught off guard.
The next morning, Qin Qing sent over the résumés and personnel lists of all those who had recently resigned. Sui Yu spent the entire morning in the study reviewing them and browsing the internet for any papers or research these individuals had published. From this, she selected two promising candidates and immediately called to arrange meetings with them.
The recipients of the sudden calls were surprised, but the generous terms Sui Yu offered quickly caught their attention. Still, they weren’t fully at ease and insisted on meeting her in person.
The three of them agreed to meet at a café. Upon seeing Sui Yu, the two women were visibly shocked. They hadn’t expected the person reaching out to them to actually be that Sui Yu—the infamous socialite of Linhai.
At this point, there was probably no one in Linhai who didn’t know her. On her wedding day, she had rented out every cinema in the city to offer free movie tickets—a gesture bold enough to ensure her name would be remembered.
Not to mention all the tabloid gossip that followed her.
“You were serious about what you said on the phone?” one of the women asked hesitantly, eyeing the Alpha before her. Tall and slender, with bright features and a refined handsomeness unique to women, Sui Yu carried a warmth in her deep brown eyes that made her seem unexpectedly approachable.
Looking at her now, there was no trace of the hedonistic reputation the rumors suggested.
“Of course I was serious,” Sui Yu said with a soft laugh. “I’ve read through both your backgrounds. I believe I can offer you the best platform—no office politics, no faction fights. All I want is for you to focus on your research and deliver results.”
By “faction fights,” she referred to the kind of toxic corporate environments the two women had previously endured—places where departments were divided and infighting was rampant. No matter which side you chose, life was difficult.
Both women were Omegas. Perhaps because of this, they understood the critical importance of inhibitors for Omegas. Graduates from top universities, they had entered the workforce full of ambition, only to be cast aside amid internal power struggles.
Though they were still wary of Sui Yu’s promises, they had few options. Neither of them wanted to go abroad just yet, but domestic research conditions were far from ideal. Since resigning, they had been stuck in limbo, unsure of their next step.
After a moment of thought, Sui Yu added, “If you don’t trust me, then perhaps you trust Shen Jueshu? She’s, my wife. With her involved, maybe that gives you at least some assurance.”
Shen Jueshu had always understood the difficulties Omegas faced in society. Every year, she sponsored many of them—helping them gain knowledge and learn skills—so they could one day claim what was rightfully theirs.
What Alphas acquired with ease, Omegas often had to fight for with ten times the effort.
And Sui Yu never thought there would come a day when she’d use Shen Jueshu as her guarantor.
She sighed deeply.
All of this… was thanks to the ruined reputation left behind by the former “Sui Yu.”
