Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 11
Perhaps it was because she had invoked Shen Jueshu’s name that the two Omegas finally agreed to trust her. Since the laboratory had yet to be established, Sui Yu asked them to prepare from home for the time being. Naturally, she assured them their promised compensation would still be paid as usual.
The two Omegas hadn’t expected such a generous arrangement and began to see Sui Yu in a more favorable light.
Once everything was settled, they didn’t linger. After parting ways, Sui Yu headed straight to the headquarters of Suihe Group. This time, she no longer needed anyone to lead the way. She walked confidently to the door of Shen Jueshu’s office and knocked. Only after hearing a voice say “Come in” did she dare to push the door open.
Shen Jueshu looked a little surprised to see her. She didn’t quite understand—Sui Yu had already handed over all managerial authority, so why was she still showing up here every day?
Seeing her gaze, Sui Yu gave an awkward little cough. “Don’t look at me like that. I came because I have something I need to tell you—and I thought it wouldn’t sound sincere enough if I just said it over the phone.”
Shen Jueshu: “…Speak.”
She didn’t know why, but it felt like Sui Yu had become a little dimmer lately. Then again, that might not be a bad thing—easier to control.
Sui Yu glanced at her expression and tried to soften the blow. “Don’t be mad, okay? It’s really not a big deal.”
Shen Jueshu’s patience was clearly wearing thin. This woman was stalling and dancing around the topic—what exactly was she trying to do?
Not daring to drag it out any further, Sui Yu shut her eyes like someone heading to the gallows. “I kind of… used your name without asking. You know I’ve been trying to set up a lab, right? Well, I needed staff. I met with two Omegas today, and they didn’t believe in me. So… I had to mention you to make them feel more secure.”
She knew it wasn’t exactly aboveboard to use someone else’s name as a guarantee without permission. Whatever consequences came next, she’d take them.
Shen Jueshu: “…That’s it?”
She looked at Sui Yu’s tense, dramatic expression—like she was facing a ferocious, man-eating beast. The sight stirred something complicated in her heart, and a shadow passed through her eyes.
After a long silence, Sui Yu started to get nervous. Her eyelids twitched, and she carefully opened one eye to peek at Shen Jueshu—only to immediately snap it shut again when she saw the grim expression on her face.
She really was mad.
“It’s fine,” Shen Jueshu finally said coolly. Since they were married now, the outside world already viewed them as one entity. Their reputations were intertwined—one’s success or failure would affect the other’s.
“Eh?”
Sui Yu opened her eyes. Seeing Shen Jueshu had already returned to her usual aloof self, she was a little confused. Wasn’t she just fuming a second ago? How did her mood flip so fast?
If Shen Jueshu weren’t a CEO, she’d have made an amazing face-changing opera performer.
“Really?” she asked cautiously, worried that Shen Jueshu might say it was fine now only to throw it back in her face later.
Shen Jueshu shot her a cold look.
Okay—Sui Yu believed her now. She flashed a bright smile and said, “Don’t worry! To repay you, I’ll make sure to develop the most low-side-effect inhibitor for your personal use!”
Shen Jueshu let out a cold chuckle, clearly unimpressed by the promise.
Feeling a little awkward at the cold reception, Sui Yu was saved by the sudden ring of her phone—it was Jiang Siyue. She glanced at the screen and quickly picked up. As it turned out, Jiang Siyue was asking her out for drinks again. Grateful for the excuse to leave, Sui Yu agreed without hesitation.
After hanging up the phone, Sui Yu pointed to her mobile and said to Shen Jueshu, “Siyue called. I’m heading out.” She had already walked halfway to the door when she suddenly turned back and added, “Don’t work too late. And don’t drink too much at social events. If you really have to drink, and you don’t mind… you can call me, and I’ll come pick you up.”
That last sentence was something she forced out through gritted teeth.
No matter what, Shen Jueshu was now her wife. Even if there weren’t any real feelings between them, Sui Yu was still willing to do what she could for her.
Shen Jueshu looked slightly stunned, but before she could respond, Sui Yu had already opened the door and left.
As the door shut, Shen Jueshu lowered her gaze, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, outside the office, Sui Yu’s steps grew quicker as she walked. She barely responded to greetings from others in the building, offering only the briefest acknowledgments. This left people puzzled, wondering—was she really done caring about the company?
But Sui Yu didn’t care what they were thinking. It wasn’t until she walked out the front doors of the building that she finally let out a breath of relief. Previously, she had reasons to be cautious around Shen Jueshu, but after so many direct dealings, she was surprised to realize she still felt nervous.
She didn’t understand it—and maybe she didn’t want to.
So, instead of dwelling on it, she pushed the thought aside. The sky ahead was already tinged with shades of sunset red as she drove toward the same private club from before.
When she entered again, everything was exactly the same. By now, Sui Yu was unfazed. Calmly, she followed Jiang Siyue into the private room while the others remained quietly stationed outside.
As soon as the door shut behind them, Jiang Siyue’s expression grew serious. She pulled Sui Yu over and asked, “Have you had any conflicts with Shen Jueshu lately? Have you noticed anything off about her behavior?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Sui Yu looked at her, confused. Aside from their earlier tensions, there hadn’t been any major arguments. She wouldn’t even dare raise her voice at Shen Jueshu, let alone fight with her.
Seeing that Sui Yu was completely unaware, Jiang Siyue looked like she was about to explode from frustration. “Do you have any idea what I saw earlier this afternoon?!”
Sui Yu sat down and opened a bottle of wine. Though this time, she didn’t dare drink too much—just poured herself a glass and took a small sip before slowly asking, “What did you see?”
Jiang Siyue looked like she was going to faint from exasperation. She snatched the wine glass out of Sui Yu’s hand and said, voice rising, “Your wife went to see another Alpha! And not just any Alpha—your archrival!”
Sui Yu didn’t get angry at the interruption. Instead, she blinked and asked calmly, “And who’s my archrival again?”
Jiang Siyue: “…”
She could hardly believe her. “Li Jiang! Li Jiang!”
The last time she mentioned Li Jiang and Sui Yu didn’t react negatively, Jiang Siyue had already found it suspicious. In the past, Sui Yu hated hearing that name. Every time she saw Jiang Siyue fawning over Li Jiang, she’d get so frustrated she looked ready to slap some sense into her.
“Uh…” Sui Yu was momentarily speechless. Now that Jiang Siyue mentioned it, Li Jiang really was the original Sui Yu’s nemesis. The two of them were the only top-tier Alphas in Linhai, and their companies competed in several overlapping markets—it was natural for rivalry to develop.
What surprised Sui Yu more, though, was that Jiang Siyue didn’t know Shen Jueshu and Li Jiang were friends.
Seeing Jiang Siyue still looking so anxious, Sui Yu narrowed her eyes. “How did you know they met? Did you go looking for Li Jiang again?” Then, suddenly annoyed, she tapped Jiang Siyue’s forehead and gritted her teeth. “She’s ignored you all this time and still you chase after her? Do you have to make yourself so cheap?”
Sui Yu could understand someone making sacrifices for love—but she drew the line at turning yourself into a groveling doormat.
Jiang Siyue looked guilty. Her eyes darted everywhere but at Sui Yu. After all, she had just cried her heart out over Li Jiang a few days ago—and now here she was, running back again. It was pretty humiliating.
“We’re supposed to be talking about Shen Jueshu and Li Jiang! Aren’t you afraid she’s cheating on you?”
Even if cheating wasn’t exactly Shen Jueshu’s style, it wasn’t impossible they were plotting something against Sui Yu together.
Sui Yu let go of Jiang Siyue and replied calmly, “She wouldn’t.”
She didn’t know why—but somehow, she was absolutely certain.
If those two could’ve been together, it would’ve happened a long time ago. Besides, in the original storyline, nothing ever came of their relationship.
Jiang Siyue’s face twisted into a complicated expression. “She might not—but Li Jiang would! And today… is Li Jiang’s susceptibility period!”
Sui Yu: “……”
