Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 16
Sui Yu lifted her arm to cover her eyes, feeling like the world around her was becoming more and more of a puzzle—one she was trapped inside with barely any of the pieces. The information she had was so limited, she could only remain lost in confusion.
Who exactly was the original Sui Yu?
The version she had read about in the book—was that really the full picture? Or just a fragmented portrayal created by the author?
“A-Yu…” Jiang Siyue called her name with concern when she saw her like that.
Sui Yu moved her arm away, looked up at her, and smiled. “I’m fine. Everything from the past is already behind me. I just suddenly figured something out.” She exhaled lightly, the corners of her lips curving. “We only get one life. Might as well live it freely.”
“I actually feel pretty relaxed right now,” she added, lying flat on the floor in a starfish position. “Look—I’ve handed off the company to Shen Jueshu. With her in charge, the company’s unlikely to go bankrupt. And I finally have time to do what I want. Isn’t that a win?”
“Sometimes, having too much makes you afraid to lose. But when you have almost nothing to begin with, loss doesn’t feel like such a big deal.”
Ever since arriving in this world, she had begun to shift her mindset. Since she was already here, she didn’t want to live in the suffocating, restrained way she used to—living according to others’ expectations of what she should be.
Now, she just wanted to live by her own heart.
Because nothing in this world truly belonged to her, there was nothing to cling to. And if someday it all had to be returned—so be it. She’d accept it without regret.
What isn’t yours to begin with, even if it must one day be given back—you accept that.
Jiang Siyue, listening to all this, only frowned deeper. When did Sui Yu’s fighting spirit become so defeated?
“You’re saying all this, but don’t forget—you forced Shen Jueshu to marry you,” Jiang Siyue said, a little exasperated. “She’s not yours either, so what exactly were you trying to hold on to?”
Sui Yu turned her head and blinked at her innocently. “I realized all this after the wedding.”
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Sui Yu patted her on the shoulder encouragingly. “And this logic applies to you too. So what if Li Jiang doesn’t like you? Let that weed go—you’ve got a whole forest ahead of you!”
Now she was getting fired up. She sat up and started listing things off on her fingers:
“If you’re into that whole refined-dangerous vibe, chase down President Yang from Jinquan Group. If you want someone more seductive and flirty, try President Bi from Dadi Group. There are so many high-quality options with all kinds of flavors—and you’re clinging to that one tree?”
To be fair, Sui Yu hadn’t just been slacking off the past few days.
She had practically memorized the entire who’s-who map of Linhai—faces, names, affiliations. Every key player. Every potential threat or asset.
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Just hearing Li Jiang’s name brought back the memory of seeing her at the club the night before—that distant, faintly disdainful expression, as if Jiang Siyue were nothing more than a speck of dust.
And the fact that she had gone to the club while in her susceptibility period—it was hard not to be suspicious of her intentions.
Even if she had been looking for something physical… Jiang Siyue supposed she could understand it. Li Jiang was a fully matured Alpha, after all—having needs was normal.
And someone with a reputation like hers…
But even if she tried to rationalize it, the idea still cut her like a knife.
Seeing Jiang Siyue fall silent, Sui Yu sighed softly, then patted her shoulder with the air of an exasperated elder, speaking sincerely, “If you’re worried about hurting someone’s feelings, you can always… sponsor someone who suits your taste. Just be upfront from the beginning—then there’s no such thing as betrayal.”
Jiang Siyue blinked in surprise, looking at her uncertainly. “You’re… that open-minded?”
Sui Yu shot her a glare. “You think, given our reputations, anything we do would still be considered shocking? If we went out and started keeping lovers, it wouldn’t raise a single eyebrow.”
Jiang Siyue groaned and covered her eyes. “Don’t smile like that… you have no idea how ugly you look right now.”
Sui Yu: “…”
She nearly had a stroke. This woman was clearly just trying to change the subject!
“Well, if I catch you acting like a pathetic simp around Li Jiang again, I’ll break your damn legs!” Sui Yu growled.
“…Got it,” Jiang Siyue muttered.
But even as she said it, she began to seriously consider Sui Yu’s suggestion.
Maybe if she redirected her attention to someone else… she could eventually let Li Jiang go.
Meanwhile, Sui Yu touched her sore cheek, then rummaged around for a face mask. The coarse fabric scraped against her already sensitive skin, making her wince. She gritted her teeth—Damn Shen Jueshu, that woman’s strength was no joke. Aren’t Omegas supposed to be soft and delicate? Shen Jueshu’s slap had nearly knocked her soul out.
Good thing she didn’t hit my ear, she thought. With that force, I swear my eardrum would’ve ruptured.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Siyue asked, watching her curiously.
“Get up. You’re driving me to the old house,” Sui Yu said bluntly.
Jiang Siyue: “…No. I don’t want to go outside.”
Sui Yu pulled her mask down and smiled sweetly. “I need to keep you where I can see you. Who knows if you’ll sneak off to find Li Jiang the moment I’m out of sight?”
“Sui Yu! You don’t trust me!” Jiang Siyue looked heartbroken, on the verge of tears—honestly, she looked like she could walk straight onto a film set.
Staring at her, Sui Yu suddenly paused in thought. She sat down cross-legged on the floor in front of her, scrutinizing her face and figure. Then she said, “You know… with your looks and that ‘cry-on-cue’ ability, are you really content being a pampered house princess? Why not try acting?”
With her status as the Jiang family’s third daughter, even if she was a social butterfly, few in the industry would dare mess with her. Add to that her well-known friendship with the original Sui Yu—no one in their right mind would offend her easily. At the very least, she’d be protected from the worst of the industry’s grime.
Jiang Siyue froze, eyes wide. “You really think I could act?”
Sui Yu gave her a second, more serious once-over, then nodded. “Absolutely! You’ve got the looks. You could even debut as a singer-dancer first—build a fanbase before transitioning into acting.”
If she launched straight into major roles with a ton of resources, the public might push back. Better to ease her in.
Jiang Siyue began to genuinely consider it.
Coming from a wealthy family didn’t mean she was talentless. She’d taken years of dance and music lessons. Picking it back up wouldn’t be hard.
And the entertainment industry… well, it thrived on image and spectacle. Wasn’t that exactly her niche?
“But what if I debut in the morning, get exposed by noon, and have to apologize and quit the same night?” she asked hesitantly.
Her reputation really wasn’t great.
Sui Yu: “…”
