Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 17
After that, Sui Yu didn’t rush off to the old house to dig up clues. If there were any to be found, they’d still be there whether she went today or later. What mattered more right now was helping Jiang Siyue find something to focus on—anything to keep her from obsessing over Li Jiang.
So, she pulled out paper and pen and started helping Jiang Siyue map out a plan. “You haven’t gone through any formal acting training. If you just jump into it now, you’ll only get minor background roles. Sure, we could throw money around and buy you a lead part, but without name recognition, you won’t carry the ratings. So… let’s take the long route. You join a talent competition show first, then slowly transition into acting.”
“Before that though, we shouldn’t hide your past. Who you are, where you come from—don’t pretend. At most, your reputation says you’re a little wild. But it’s not like you’ve ever played with someone’s feelings. If anything, we can use that to build you a bold, carefree image.”
There were too many people who knew their reputations. Trying to hide the past would only backfire. If the truth got dug up later, it would cause way more damage than just owning it up front.
Sui Yu clenched her fist and held it out like a pep-talk coach. “If we’re gonna do this, we’re doing it big. We’ll make you the most dazzling, uninhibited Omega the industry has ever seen! Don’t hold back—embrace your nature. We’ve got your back!”
Jiang Siyue burst out laughing. “What’s gotten into you? You’ve changed so much.”
She couldn’t even remember the last time Sui Yu had made her laugh like this.
Sui Yu shrugged. “Just trying to teach you something—live for yourself. Don’t overthink everything. Do what makes you happy.”
Jiang Siyue looked at her seriously, her expression gradually becoming more resolute. She nodded firmly. “I’ll become the brightest star out there!”
“Yes!” Sui Yu declared with passion. “And make that damn Li Jiang look up to you forever!”
“Exactly! A-Yu, you’re my goddess!” Jiang Siyue said, gazing at her with deep admiration.
At that moment, the front door opened.
The two froze, heads whipping toward the entrance in sync.
Standing in the doorway was Shen Jueshu, looking at them with a complicated expression. She didn’t say anything at first—just quietly stepped inside, changed her shoes, and walked over. Her eyes settled on Jiang Siyue, staring at her for a long moment before finally speaking:
“…You’ve really had it tough.”
Jiang Siyue: “???”
Sui Yu also wore a face full of confusion.
They had been worried she’d misinterpret something, but… what exactly was she referring to?
Then Shen Jueshu’s gaze shifted—to Sui Yu’s still-swollen face.
Ah.
Now they understood.
Jiang Siyue immediately burst out into a muffled giggle, covering her mouth.
Sui Yu looked at Shen Jueshu with a face full of outrage. “And just who do you think made me look like this?!”
How could this woman still have the audacity to act concerned?
But Shen Jueshu’s expression didn’t change. She simply walked into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water, utterly unbothered.
Sui Yu ground her teeth. When did I miss the memo that she was this infuriating?!
Still, now that she was home, Sui Yu figured she couldn’t exactly sneak off to the old house anymore.
“So, why are you back so early today?” she asked, leaning on the kitchen doorway and checking the time. It was only three in the afternoon. For someone like Shen Jueshu—a notorious workaholic—this was very out of character.
Shen Jueshu gave her a side glance. “Thanks to someone’s interference, my meetings got canceled. Work’s been a lot lighter today.”
After Sui Yu’s statement that morning, no one dared to test her limits. Everyone knew exactly what kind of person she was—wild, unpredictable, and very much capable of flipping the table if pushed.
So now, if negotiations could be finalized in a meeting room, no one dared drag them to a dinner table just to force drinks on Shen Jueshu.
As for company affairs, Sui Yu had originally been the one managing everything. Now that she had publicly declared her full support for her wife, those still unsure about where to stand quickly fell in line, and Shen Jueshu’s projects began advancing much more smoothly.
This sudden efficiency was the only reason she could clock out so early today.
Sui Yu chuckled softly and looked at Shen Jueshu. “Leaving work early isn’t so bad. Life isn’t all about work, you know.”
Shen Jueshu glanced at her but said nothing in reply.
As the two walked into the living room, Jiang Siyue saw Shen Jueshu and instantly lit up. A huge smile spread across her face as she dragged out the sweetest, most dramatic greeting:
“Saaaoo” (Sister-in-law~)
Sui Yu froze mid-step.
Shen Jueshu’s grip on her water glass tightened.
They both turned their heads in unison to stare at her.
But Jiang Siyue was unfazed by their stares. Eyes sparkling, she looked up at Shen Jueshu with a flattering grin.
“Sister-in-law, I remember you own a talent agency, right? Sign me, pretty please?”
It wasn’t until she saw Shen Jueshu that she remembered—of course! She had a whole agency. While it wasn’t a giant in the entertainment world, it was still well-established, and being signed by someone she knew would make everything easier.
Sui Yu’s expression grew increasingly complicated.
Has this girl forgotten that I’m divorcing Shen Jueshu?! And she still called her “sister-in-law” so naturally?
Shen Jueshu looked down at the cross-legged Jiang Siyue from her superior height.
To be fair, Jiang Siyue had the looks and figure for the entertainment industry. But why the sudden interest? Was this just a bored socialite looking for a new experience?
Seeing she wasn’t getting an answer, Jiang Siyue turned on the charm even more, her voice sugar-sweet and teasing:
“Sister-in-law~ come on, sign me already~”
The tone was so flirtatious it sent a jolt down Sui Yu’s spine. She rushed over, slapped a hand over Jiang Siyue’s mouth, and hissed through gritted teeth, “Have you forgotten we’re getting divorced?!”
She glared at her.
As her best friend, calling her soon-to-be-ex-wife “sister-in-law” in public—wasn’t that just asking for misunderstandings?
Jiang Siyue blinked innocently, her wide eyes saying: But… you’re not divorced yet, are you?
Shen Jueshu’s gaze flickered when she heard Sui Yu mention the divorce.
So she’d already told Jiang Siyue. That meant she wasn’t just bluffing—she was serious.
A contemplative look passed through Shen Jueshu’s eyes. She thought back to the wedding day—the moment Sui Yu tried to run.
That was the beginning of everything.
She pushed all the thoughts away, then calmly sat down on the sofa and said coolly, “I can sign you. But the resources? You’ll have to earn them yourself. Until you prove your value, I’m not handing anything to you.”
Giving her resources now would mean taking them from someone else—something Shen Jueshu refused to do unless Jiang Siyue had the ability to justify it.
“Don’t worry! One day, I’ll be so good that you’ll throw resources at me without blinking!” Jiang Siyue declared, chest puffed out, her tone as bold as ever.
Sui Yu finally smiled and nodded.
That’s more like it.
This version of Jiang Siyue—arrogant, determined—was a million times better than the crying mess from before.
Watching her friend, then looking at Sui Yu beside her, Shen Jueshu slowly took a sip of water.
No wonder these two are friends.
That level of stupidity really was… identical.
