Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 18
Sui Yu had no idea what Shen Jueshu was thinking about her at that moment. All she cared about was that Shen Jueshu had agreed to sign Jiang Siyue—so she dove straight into helping Jiang Siyue plan out her career path in greater detail.
Shen Jueshu, unsure if she was just bored, ended up sitting nearby and listening in.
But the more she listened to Sui Yu outline strategies, schedules, and audience psychology, the more a flicker of confusion began to surface in her eyes.
Had she not known that Sui Yu used to manage a company, she’d have genuinely mistaken her for a professional agent.
How did this woman know so much about the entertainment industry?
She wasn’t just familiar with the structure—she understood audience behavior and market trends with shocking precision.
If Sui Yu ever went into entertainment management, Shen Jueshu was certain she’d become a top-tier agent in no time.
The reason behind Sui Yu’s oddly deep understanding was simple:
In her past life, she’d been obsessed with anime, pop culture, and fandoms. For her, the entertainment world had always been an escape—a place where she could observe freely without becoming emotionally involved. That detachment allowed her to notice details most people ignored.
She could understand the rules without being ruled by the game.
As Sui Yu laid out one plan after another, Jiang Siyue’s expression grew more and more starry-eyed. Finally, she grabbed Sui Yu’s hand, eyes brimming with admiration.
“A-Yu! You’re just sitting at home doing nothing anyway—why don’t you become my agent?”
With Sui Yu backing her, she could charge forward without a second thought!
Sui Yu immediately pulled her hand back in disgust and pushed Jiang Siyue away.
“Get lost. Maintain proper A-O distance, please.”
Jiang Siyue clutched her chest, looking heartbreakingly betrayed.
Shen Jueshu sat silently to the side, watching them clown around.
It was easy to tell there was nothing between them beyond friendship. Pure, chaotic, ride-or-die friendship.
She sighed inwardly, then glanced at Sui Yu’s still-swollen face.
The more she observed her… the less she understood her.
“You don’t have to worry so much,” Shen Jueshu said coolly. “She’ll be assigned a manager. That person will plan everything for her.”
Sui Yu turned and blinked at her. “A capable manager, right?”
She didn’t mean to question Shen Jueshu’s judgment, but a good manager could make or break a rising artist. It wasn’t something to take lightly.
Shen Jueshu gave her a sharp look. “…I don’t hire incompetents.”
Satisfied, Sui Yu nodded. “That sounds like you.”
Jiang Siyue, thrilled, rushed over to pour Shen Jueshu a fresh glass of water and handed it to her with a sweet, practiced smile.
“Then I’ll start sucking up to the boss early!”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Her expression became a little more complex.
In both this life and the last, she had never really interacted much with Jiang Siyue. She’d assumed that, like Sui Yu, Jiang Siyue would be sharp-tongued, distant, and cunning.
But to her surprise, this woman was cheerful, outgoing—even kind of goofy.
She genuinely couldn’t understand how the previous version of Sui Yu had managed to get along with someone like this.
They were polar opposites in every sense.
That evening, the housekeeper originally planned to come over and cook, but Sui Yu had already called ahead and asked her to buy a pile of hot pot ingredients instead.
She’d decided—they were going to have hot pot at home.
Hot pot was warm, casual, and intimate.
Nothing brought people closer like sitting around a boiling pot and eating together.
And yes—she wanted to get closer to Shen Jueshu.
They were married. They lived under the same roof.
On top of that, Shen Jueshu was helping her build a laboratory and would inevitably be involved in many of her future plans.
If they kept throwing icy glares at each other every time they crossed paths, things would only become more difficult in the long run.
When Shen Jueshu saw the sheer pile of hot pot ingredients laid out before her, she paused in surprise.
“Do you eat spicy food?” Sui Yu asked.
Shen Jueshu glanced at the bubbling red oil broth on the table—its deep crimson color screamed fiery. She shook her head.
Seeing that, Sui Yu took out another pot and began preparing a mild mushroom broth base just for her. Once everything was set, the feast began!
“Air conditioning on, hot pot in summer—this is heaven,” Sui Yu sighed with satisfaction.
She used to eat hot pot alone, but having three people around the table this time… it felt surprisingly nice.
“Whoo~” Jiang Siyue had her mouth open, panting slightly. The food was spicy, scalding hot, and incredibly satisfying. Her eyes were beginning to redden, but her chopsticks never stopped moving.
“Sis-in-law, you have to try the spicy broth—it’s amazing!” she said between bites, then glanced disapprovingly at Shen Jueshu’s mild broth. “Clear soup has no soul! Respecting hot pot means going spicy, or go home!”
Shen Jueshu glanced down at the clean, mild broth in her pot… then glanced at their chili-red cauldron. Honestly, the food from their side did look more appetizing. But their lips were bright red, eyes watery—if she ate from it, wouldn’t she end up looking even worse?
“Just try it. How will you know if you can handle it unless you do?” Sui Yu said, her voice slightly thick from the heat.
Shen Jueshu couldn’t tell if it was a trick of the spicy steam or not, but Sui Yu’s face looked even redder—and more swollen—than before.
Still, Shen Jueshu didn’t move her chopsticks.
Years of etiquette training had conditioned her not to react in embarrassing ways. No way would she be caught huffing and puffing like Sui Yu and Jiang Siyue were doing now.
Sui Yu, even while fanning her mouth and wiping at her eyes, was sneaking glances at Shen Jueshu.
She noticed how Shen Jueshu kept glancing—longingly—at the spicy broth.
Oh, she thought, she actually wants to try it.
Sui Yu almost laughed out loud. Why be so conflicted about it? If you want to eat it, then eat it!
She stood up and poured a glass of warm water, then took the public chopsticks and dipped some food into the spicy broth. After a quick rinse in the hot water to reduce the spice, she placed it gently into Shen Jueshu’s bowl.
“Try it this way—it won’t be too spicy,” she said.
Shen Jueshu stared at the food in her bowl, her expression stiffening just slightly. She glanced at Sui Yu, who had already sat back down and returned to eating her own food like nothing had happened—not even glancing her way.
After a moment of silence, Shen Jueshu lowered her eyes, paused, and then… picked up the food.
Because it had been rinsed in water, most of the spice was gone—but even the small amount left was enough to make her eyes sting. Her lips reddened as if flushed with bl00d, and her eyes began to mist slightly. But even then, she refused to open her mouth and pant to ease the burn.
Too spicy.
She had never eaten spicy food before. Growing up, her family considered spicy food too stimulating, unsuitable for a refined lifestyle. Their meals had never included even a hint of chili.
Sui Yu noticed her struggle and quickly got up to pour her a glass of milk, placing it gently by her hand. Her eyes widened slightly in disbelief.
She really can’t handle even this little spice?!
“If you can’t take it, then don’t. The mushroom broth is still tasty,” Sui Yu said hurriedly. She reached out and began picking the food back out of Shen Jueshu’s bowl into her own.
Shen Jueshu’s eyes were already watery from the heat—Sui Yu didn’t want her to end up traumatized.
Shen Jueshu’s eyes widened slightly. Even through the watery blur, she clearly saw what Sui Yu was doing.
That food…
She had already eaten some of it…
