Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 19
After seeing her drink, the milk and calm down a bit, Sui Yu finally relaxed and began eating her own food. However, she no longer tried to persuade Shen Jueshu to eat from the spicy hot pot.
Although Shen Jueshu did look heartbreakingly delicate after eating something spicy, her discomfort seemed quite real.
Meanwhile, Shen Jueshu, sitting across from Sui Yu, watched as Sui Yu calmly finished the food, she’d picked from Jueshu’s bowl. Jueshu didn’t even know what expression to wear anymore—she couldn’t understand how Sui Yu could eat from her bowl so nonchalantly.
“Hmm? What are you looking at?” Sui Yu noticed her gaze and looked back in confusion.
Shen Jueshu averted her eyes and said nothing, quietly continuing to eat from her own mushroom broth pot.
Sui Yu was full of questions, but she didn’t dwell on it. When she saw Jiang Siyue scoop out all the tripe from the pot, she immediately grew angry. “How could you take it all?! Couldn’t you at least leave me some?!”
At the sound of her voice, Jiang Siyue, who had been eating with her head down, hurried to add a bit more tripe back into the pot and gave a placating smile. “There’s still some left.”
Sui Yu snorted lightly in response.
Shen Jueshu glanced at the two of them and couldn’t understand why they were being so childish.
After dinner, Shen Jueshu didn’t stay any longer. She simply told Jiang Siyue to report to the company at 10 a.m. the next morning, then got up and went upstairs to her room.
As soon as she left, Jiang Siyue looked up with a somewhat secretive expression and asked Sui Yu, “A-Yu, are you really going through with the divorce?”
Sui Yu picked up a piece of tripe and replied casually, “Do I not seem determined enough?”
If she didn’t want a divorce, shouldn’t she be chasing Shen Jueshu with flowers by now?
Jiang Siyue shook her head regretfully. “Your wife’s actually really great. If you let her go, you might never find someone as good again.”
Sui Yu shot her a glance. “Don’t start sucking up to her just because she agreed to sign you.”
Of course Sui Yu knew Shen Jueshu was great—but that greatness was for others, not for her. If Jiang Siyue knew that, in the original storyline, Shen Jueshu had once locked the protagonist in a basement for years, she might not be so quick to praise her.
“What do you mean! Seriously—tell me, what’s wrong with her? She’s beautiful, capable, morally upright. Even as an Omega, I find her absolutely magnetic!”
Sui Yu’s hand paused slightly as she picked up some vegetables. After a moment, she sighed and said softly, “She is amazing, but being amazing doesn’t necessarily mean she’s the right one. If you’re looking for someone to spend the rest of your life with, it has to be someone compatible.”
Shen Jueshu was too outstanding—so much so that Sui Yu couldn’t even dare to hope.
Hearing that, Jiang Siyue also slowly put down her chopsticks. She looked at Sui Yu, suddenly sounding a bit downcast. “In life… should we choose the one we love, or the one who’s right for us?”
It was something she had pondered many times before. But each time, she was left with disappointment and no answers. If life isn’t spent with someone you love, what’s the point? Yet, more often than not, life doesn’t go the way we want. Just because you love someone doesn’t mean the feeling is mutual.
Seeing her like that, Sui Yu smiled faintly and leaned over to ruffle her hair, as if she were petting a giant rabbit. “Things like this should just follow the natural course. People’s thoughts can change easily. Right now, you might think that life is short and being with the one you love is the most important thing. But in the future, after going through more in life, who’s to say your choices won’t change?”
Watching Jiang Siyue sniffle, Sui Yu gave a small, distant smile. Her thoughts wandered a bit. Although this world was fictional, created by the author as a second-dimensional setting, the emotions within—warmth and coldness, love and hate—were no different from real life.
Upstairs, Shen Jueshu watched the surveillance feed on her phone and listened silently to the voices coming from the speaker, her brows furrowed in thought.
Downstairs, unaware that their every move had been seen and heard, Sui Yu and Jiang Siyue finished their hot pot. Suddenly, Sui Yu burst into laughter.
“What are you laughing at?” Jiang Siyue’s eyes were already red from both the spicy broth and her earlier crying, making her look even more pitiful.
Sui Yu pointed at the mess on the table. “We don’t have to clean up!”
That, in her mind, was a moment of absolute joy! Every time she’d had hot pot in the past, she always had to clean up the mess afterward, including scrubbing the greasy pot. But now, she didn’t have to do a thing once the meal was over. Just for this alone, Sui Yu felt like transmigrating into this novel had been worth it.
Jiang Siyue: “…” She sniffled, not quite following Sui Yu’s train of thought. Hadn’t they always had help cleaning up anyway?
“Go wash up and get some rest,” Sui Yu said. “You need to look good for your company onboarding tomorrow. Just look at the state you’re in—don’t get kicked out before you even sign in. Image matters when you’re an entertainer!”
With a dramatic sniff, Jiang Siyue stood up, puffed up with determination, and marched toward the bedroom. In her heart, she resolved to forget about Li Jiang completely!
After she left, Sui Yu also returned to her room. She decided she would go to the old family estate alone. It would be fine to call a driver to take her there in the morning.
The next day, by the time Sui Yu woke up, Shen Jueshu had already left for work. Jiang Siyue, too, was dressed up and out the door, carrying the business card Shen Jueshu had given her—leaving Sui Yu all alone.
Sui Yu let out a light sigh. Everyone else had serious things to do, while she was the only one with nothing but free time.
She called the driver and had him take her to the Sui family’s old estate. Once they arrived, she told him to leave.
Standing before the sprawling manor, Sui Yu once again marveled at how wealthy the original character’s family truly was. The moment she stepped out of the car, someone immediately came over to open the door for her. Even though the estate no longer had any residents, there were still staff maintained to keep the place spotless—hence why everything looked so pristine when she arrived.
But a thought began to gnaw at her. Wouldn’t this mean that any clues left behind might have been cleaned away too?
“Young Miss, per your instructions, we haven’t touched anything above the second floor, so there may be quite a bit of dust,” the butler said quietly beside her.
Sui Yu’s expression remained composed, but her heart was filled with relief. If that were the case, then any items the original character had left behind were likely still preserved!
“Alright. I understand. You all can go back to work. I’ll just look around on my own,” Sui Yu said calmly.
“Yes, Miss.” The butler bowed slightly and turned to leave. As he walked away, he glanced at her from the corner of his eye, then departed as if nothing had happened.
Once everyone had left the main building, Sui Yu headed straight for the second-floor bedroom. She remembered from the novel that the original character’s room had been at the very end of the second floor.
As she walked through the corridor, she realized that not only had the place gone untouched, but no one had even set foot up here. A thin layer of dust coated the carpet—her footsteps left visible prints behind.
Sui Yu frowned slightly. Why wouldn’t the original character even allow people upstairs?
When she opened the door at the end of the hall, the room inside clearly hadn’t been lived in for a long time. Dust covered everything in sight. But what was most shocking wasn’t the decay—it was the wall.
One entire wall was covered in scratches. The once-smooth surface was now scarred and torn, almost beyond recognition.
Sui Yu stepped closer. Beyond the chaotic markings, she could practically feel the overwhelming bitterness and resentment radiating from them.
Hatred.
Hatred.
Hatred.
