Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 2
“I want a divorce!”
As soon as the words left Sui Yu’s mouth, Shen Jueshu—who had been dusting herself off—froze. She lowered her eyes to look at the drunken, dazed woman lying on the bed and gave a cold, mocking smile.
“Do you even know what you’re saying right now?”
Divorce? It was as absurd as her suggestion to elope during the wedding ceremony.
The shadow in Shen Jueshu’s gaze deepened. This marriage—wasn’t it something Sui Yu had schemed so hard to obtain? And now she had the nerve to act innocent?
Staring at Sui Yu, fury surged in Shen Jueshu’s eyes. In her past life, after their marriage, Sui Yu had used every possible method to force a mark on her. Someone like that was now saying she wanted a divorce so easily?
Then a thought struck her—what if Sui Yu had been reborn as well?
If Shen Jueshu could be reborn, why not Sui Yu? That would certainly explain her sudden change in behavior. After all, in their previous life, once she finally captured Sui Yu and locked her in the basement, she had returned every cruelty Sui Yu had ever dealt her.
So now… was she scared?
Shen Jueshu’s expression darkened, but after a long silence, she suddenly let out a quiet laugh. If that were truly the case—then things just got interesting.
Let’s see how long you can keep up this little act.
“Divorce isn’t out of the question,” she said coolly, examining her nails painted in delicate rouge. “But not now. We just got married. If word got out that we divorced immediately, it would be a public scandal.”
Sui Yu’s alcohol-fogged brain took a moment to process this, but it did sound reasonable. She let out an “Oh,” then rolled over in bed and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.
“Even if we can’t divorce right away, the fact that we want to is already established! That means we can’t sleep together!”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Did she really change personalities during that brief absence?
“Don’t worry—I never planned on sleeping with you.” She sneered. “After all, I think you’re filthy.”
That hit a nerve. Sui Yu sat up indignantly, slurring through her protest. “Don’t slander me! I’ve been single since birth—how could I possibly be filthy?”
She had never even held someone’s hand before! That kind of accusation was just plain slander!
But Shen Jueshu merely curled her lips, clearly unconvinced.
Who in their circles hadn’t heard of “President Su” frequenting every kind of exclusive club in the city? Rumor had it she dabbled in all kinds of wild indulgences. It was practically common knowledge in their social scene.
When neither of them spoke, Sui Yu finally caught a whiff of the strong alcohol reeking from herself. Staggering to her feet, she pointed at the bed and said, “Have someone come and change the sheets. You take the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Even in her drunken state, one thing remained clear in her mind—you have to treat girls gently.
It was just that Sui Yu, when caring for others, often forgot… she was also a girl who needed care.
Shen Jueshu watched as Sui Yu stumbled toward the bathroom, then finally sighed and called someone in to change out all the bedding. Afterward, she pulled out her phone to handle some work, waiting for the drunk fool to finish so she could take her turn washing up.
Maybe it was Sui Yu’s ridiculous “run away with me” line at the wedding, but Shen Jueshu now had even less faith in her mental capacity. Even though they were alone in the room—one Alpha and one Omega—Shen Jueshu didn’t feel the least bit threatened.
And even if Sui Yu did try something, she wouldn’t be afraid.
She hadn’t succeeded in the last life. This time would be no different.
Shen Jueshu had been given a second chance at life, and she had no intention of letting things play out like before.
This time, she would hold all the power.
A cold glint flashed through Shen Jueshu’s eyes, but she reminded herself—her current power was still far from complete. Glancing toward the bathroom door, she decided to let Sui Yu enjoy her last bit of peace for now.
After taking a shower, Sui Yu seemed a little more sober. She came out without sparing Shen Jueshu a single glance. Instead, she grabbed a pillow from the bed and went straight to the living room sofa to sleep. It was summer anyway—blanket or no blanket didn’t matter much.
Shen Jueshu only gave her a passing glance before heading into the bathroom to clean up.
As the shower rained down on her, Shen Jueshu suddenly realized something—she hadn’t smelled Sui Yu’s pheromones at all. In the past, every time Sui Yu saw her, her scent would flutter around like a butterfly. But tonight? Not even a trace.
Shen Jueshu gave a cold snort. She’s really putting on an act now.
When she exited the bathroom, Sui Yu was already curled up asleep on the sofa. Her long, damp hair was strewn across her face, soaking into the pillow beneath her head.
Sui Yu like this was someone Shen Jueshu had never seen before. Gone was the volatile, overbearing Alpha with a dangerously sharp gaze. In sleep, she looked… unexpectedly innocent.
Without giving her another look, Shen Jueshu climbed into bed and turned off the lights. Though she hadn’t looked forward to this wedding, being dragged through the ceremony all day had still been exhausting. She drifted off not long after closing her eyes.
And just like that, their so-called wedding night ended with one too drunk to function and the other too tired to care. A quiet, separate-sleep arrangement—uneventful, yet peaceful.
Early the next morning, Shen Jueshu was the first to wake. Her mind was still groggy, drifting back to her last life’s wedding night—a brutal battle of wills that had marked the beginning of her long nightmare.
She pushed away those messy thoughts. The past was the past. Right now, she had a fresh start. Every moment counted.
She had already washed up and dressed by the time she noticed that Sui Yu still hadn’t moved from the sofa. Shen Jueshu frowned. It was their first day as newlyweds—they had to at least put on a show. Was this woman planning to play dead and skip it?
She walked into the living room—and just one glance told her something was wrong.
Sui Yu was curled into an even tighter ball than before. Her face was flushed with an unnatural redness, her forehead drenched in cold sweat that matted her hair.
Thinking back to Sui Yu’s appearance before bed, Shen Jueshu quickly figured it out.
She let out a scoff. Did she overdo it last night and exhaust herself? What kind of Alpha catches a cold this easily? If that’s not weak, what is?
Still, seeing Sui Yu’s sweat-soaked face and red cheeks, Shen Jueshu’s eyes became unreadable. After a pause, she finally picked up her phone and called the family doctor.
It was just a cold. Nothing fatal. It probably wouldn’t even fry her brain. And besides, Shen Jueshu hadn’t yet solidified her footing—Sui Yu couldn’t be allowed to collapse so soon.
The doctor arrived, gave Sui Yu a quick examination, then hooked her up to an IV. “Nothing serious,” he said. “Once the drip is done and the fever breaks, she’ll be fine.”
Shen Jueshu responded with a faint nod. Well, it looks like we don’t have to go out and act like a happy couple today after all. Still, calling a doctor on the first day of marriage—if word got out, what would people think?
She glanced over at the incapacitated Alpha sprawled on the sofa and felt a flicker of disdain. Being tied to her is just embarrassing.
But with the Shen and Su families now bound together, Shen Jueshu had to maintain appearances—to make it look like this was more than a superficial marriage. It had to appear beneficial, strategic, even affectionate.
Sui Yu slowly opened her eyes, her head pounding and throat dry. She spotted Shen Jueshu calmly reading a book nearby and gave a light cough, weakly reaching out toward the hem of her skirt. Her voice was hoarse:
“Water… I need water…”
Hungover and now feverish, Sui Yu was in no shape to move. She could only hope the heroine would take pity on her and help her out.
But Shen Jueshu simply used the book in her hands to brush Sui Yu’s hand away. Her face remained as indifferent as ever, and she continued reading without saying a word.
Sui Yu clenched her teeth, then gave up begging. She forced herself upright from the sofa, glanced at the IV in her hand, then looked at the nearly empty fluid bag. Gritting her teeth, she yanked the needle from her hand and staggered toward the kitchen to find water.
What she didn’t know was that every move she made had fallen under Shen Jueshu’s watchful gaze. The moment she saw Sui Yu pull the needle out without hesitation, Shen Jueshu froze mid-page, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Wasn’t Sui Yu terrified of needles? In the past, she hadn’t even dared look at them—how could she pull one out so calmly now?
Before long, Sui Yu returned with a cup of water and sat beside her, her expression solemn.
Using a calm, deliberate tone, she said,
“Even if we’re going to divorce, since we’re not divorced yet, shouldn’t you at least fulfill some basic marital duties?”
Aside from forcing her into marriage, none of the horrible things from the novel had happened—so why did she seem to hate her so much already?
