Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 25.3
Being suddenly embraced, Shen Jueshu froze. She couldn’t detect any ill intent from Sui Yu’s touch. On the contrary, the Alpha’s scent was soaked in compassion, guilt, and… unmistakable tenderness.
She’s… feeling sorry for me?
The thought startled Shen Jueshu. But no matter how she tried to rationalize it, the emotional imprint from Sui Yu was undeniable.
Those arms wrapped tightly around her waist. She could feel the warmth of Sui Yu’s tears soaking into the fabric on her shoulder.
“How did we end up like this…”
Yes, how indeed?
And strangely, in this embrace overflowing with pain and empathy, Shen Jueshu found she couldn’t even muster a shred of anger anymore. To lash out at someone like this… it felt wrong.
She was disoriented, left letting Sui Yu cry in her arms while her own heart throbbed in confusion.
If I stop hating her… then what’s left?
She felt like a lone boat drifting in a fog-covered ocean, rudderless and lost.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry…” Sui Yu sobbed quietly, the words torn from her throat.
I’m useless. I changed everything—and still changed nothing.
Why bring me here if I still can’t change the ending?
The woman hugging her wept with such gut-wrenching sorrow, saying words that weren’t hers to say. And all Shen Jueshu could do was stare blankly at her—utterly lost.
The worst of her heat slowly began to subside under Sui Yu’s pheromonal comfort. She grew clearer, while Sui Yu—who was still clinging to her—only grew weaker.
Eventually, Sui Yu’s sobs turned to soft, involuntary trembles.
She didn’t want to cry. She knew she looked pathetic. But she just… couldn’t help it.
She finally released Shen Jueshu and turned away, her back to her, not wanting to be seen in such a humiliating state. Voice hoarse, still choked with tears, she muttered:
“You can hit me… just don’t laugh at me.”
If Shen Jueshu laughed now, she’d honestly think it was to mock her breakdown, and that would break her more than a slap ever could.
But no response came.
Shen Jueshu was too quiet—eerily so.
Sui Yu waited a long time and still got nothing. Awkwardly, she turned halfway around to check on her, only to see Shen Jueshu still dazed.
The usual coldness and resentment were gone. She looked more like a lost child—confused and vulnerable.
“You… are you okay?” Sui Yu hastily wiped the tears from her cheeks and gently reached out, poking Shen Jueshu’s hand with a finger.
This lack of reaction… honestly unnerved her.
Wasn’t this the woman who slapped first and asked questions later?
Shen Jueshu’s eyes shifted, slowly focusing on her. She looked at Sui Yu’s worried face, and for a moment, a question burned on her lips:
“Who are you really?”
But in the end, she didn’t say it.
She didn’t know how to navigate this version of Sui Yu anymore.
The pain she had expected—had been ready to return tenfold—now felt meaningless in the wake of that desperate, tear-filled embrace.
Their pheromones still lingered in the room, fused together. And now, whether it was Shen Jueshu or Sui Yu—both of them wore each other’s scent.
Without scent blockers, the world would see them and know immediately:
They had marked each other.
“You…”
“I’ll get the mark removed!” Sui Yu blurted before Shen Jueshu could finish. “Just give me a bit of time, okay?”
She scrambled to explain. “They say it’s super painful and risky—I just need to mentally prepare myself first!”
Like hell she’d survive being dissected on the surgical table after all this! She might as well have died in Shen Jueshu’s arms—it’d be more poetic!
Shen Jueshu’s brows furrowed.
Wasn’t that line supposed to come from her?
After all, Omega markings had deeper biological consequences. By comparison, Sui Yu’s burden was lighter. So why was she the one bracing for trauma?
“…Why were you here in the first place?” Shen Jueshu asked quietly after a pause.
Sui Yu’s gaze dodged, voice soft:
“I smelled your pheromones.”
Fearing a misunderstanding, she hurried to clarify: “I thought you were out of suppressants. I asked Siyue to bring some over, but your scent was so strong she was worried she’d fall into heat too, and then I’d have to deal with two Omegas in heat, and…”
The longer she spoke, the quieter her voice got.
And she really didn’t know that the moment she walked in, she’d get bitten—marked—right there on the spot.
Shen Jueshu stared down at the discarded suppressant box on the floor.
Given what she saw, maybe—just maybe—Sui Yu wasn’t lying.
And aside from the marking, she hadn’t done anything truly out of line.
For a moment, silence fell between them. Neither of them knew what to say.
Sui Yu, on the other hand, couldn’t get over how calm Shen Jueshu seemed. She had literally marked her! In the novel, the original host couldn’t even get near her gland, let alone attempt a mark. Every time she tried, she’d fail—miserably.
Now? Sui Yu had done it. She’d succeeded—and Shen Jueshu was… fine?
The heat was gone, yes, but the pheromone saturation in the air was still thick. Sui Yu’s cheeks were flushed, her legs shaky, and even her breathing was a little erratic.
Omega pheromones really were dangerous to Alphas.
“Do you… do you want to go to the hospital?” Sui Yu asked hesitantly. Judging by Shen Jueshu’s reaction earlier, the usual suppressants clearly didn’t work on her anymore.
Shen Jueshu cast her a brief, indifferent glance, then got up and said coldly, “You should go home.”
“Eh?” Sui Yu blinked. She’s not even going to scold me for the mark?
“You—are you really not going to the hospital…?” Sui Yu asked again, more cautiously this time. If the suppressants didn’t work and she wasn’t getting medical help, what was she going to do the next time heat hit—just suffer through it?
Shen Jueshu looked down at her from above, lips curling into a cold smile. “What, you want to stay or something?”
Sui Yu’s face flushed scarlet.
Truth be told… she did want to stay.
If Shen Jueshu refused treatment and suppressants, and Sui Yu could help her but chose to walk away, wouldn’t that be just another version of what the original host had done?
But now that Shen Jueshu had said it out loud, the idea suddenly sounded sketchy. Like she had ulterior motives. Which she absolutely did not.
“If you’re not going to the hospital, then I’m not leaving,” Sui Yu said stubbornly, turning her head aside so she didn’t have to meet her eyes.
At this point, it didn’t really matter whether she stayed or not.
They’d already marked each other. How much worse could it get?
Shen Jueshu frowned.
Sure, she hadn’t held Sui Yu accountable for the mark—because she’d started it.
But that didn’t mean she’d let her take an inch and ask for a mile.
“You think an Alpha like you staying with an Omega like me is… appropriate?”
“Of course it is!” Sui Yu said, suddenly righteous. “What, you think I’m going to do something to you? You already did that earlier, and I didn’t even try anything. So what makes you think I would now?”
Besides, between the two of them, it wasn’t even clear who was more dangerous without the use of pheromone suppression.
Shen Jueshu let out a slow, cold chuckle.
But before she could reply, Sui Yu forced herself to stand—despite her aching back—and fished a small bottle of medicinal oil from her pocket. She shoved it into Shen Jueshu’s hand, wincing. “Here, apply this to my back. I hurt it earlier, and your little ‘episode’ made it worse!”
Every slight movement sent sharp pain jolting up her spine.
I need to go pray at a temple, she thought darkly. I must’ve angered the gods this year.
Shen Jueshu looked down at the bottle in her hand. Then at Sui Yu—limping, stiff, and red-faced as she awkwardly made her way toward the bed.
Her gaze eventually fell on Sui Yu’s neck, where bl00d was still seeping from the bite wound.
Shen Jueshu gripped the bottle tightly, her expression shifting.
Sui Yu paused at the bed’s edge, glanced at the pristine covers, then looked down at her mess of a body. Finally, she turned toward the sofa instead. With great effort, she lay down carefully.
Looking over at Shen Jueshu, she groaned, “Have a little pity, will you? If I keep this up, I’ll end up paralyzed. You think people won’t gossip if your Alpha wife turns into a useless wreck within days of marriage?”
That sort of rumor would explode—and not in a good way.
Shen Jueshu stared for a long moment, then finally walked over.
Seeing Sui Yu struggle to lift her shirt, she sighed and helped her.
“Hey, hey! Not too high!” Sui Yu yelped, face burning.
She wasn’t wearing anything underneath!
Shen Jueshu ignored her protests. Once the shirt was raised, she caught sight of a deep bruise, spanning the lower back. Her brow furrowed instinctively.
