Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? (GL) - Chapter 6
Shen Jueshu sneered inwardly at Sui Yu’s words. She says she won’t mess around? And she wants me to feel at ease? Hasn’t she fooled around enough already? Were all those stories I heard just rumors?
“Do whatever you want—just don’t get caught on camera.” Shen Jueshu picked up her coffee and took a sip. If this woman wanted to go out and party, that was better than staying home and setting her sights on her.
Sui Yu was momentarily stunned. How many days has it been since the wedding? And they were already living separate lives?
“…Alright.” Sui Yu replied with a helpless tone.
Shen Jueshu went back to her work without looking up. Sui Yu sat across from her for a while, but couldn’t find anything else to say. Eventually, she could only get up and leave, feeling a little awkward.
Back in her room, surrounded by the quiet and cold atmosphere, Sui Yu let out a long sigh. For the first time, she truly understood that ancient feeling of being a stranger in a foreign land.
She glanced at the clock—it was already midnight. She sighed again. Back in her original life, if she was still awake at midnight, it was only because she was working in the lab, busy analyzing data. On a normal day, she never stayed up this late.
But now, even though this might be her rest time, it wasn’t for the original owner of this body.
The name lighting up on the phone screen made her frown slightly. In the novel, this person was a childhood friend of the original Sui Yu—a classic bad influence with a questionable reputation.
“…Hello.” In the end, Sui Yu decided to answer the call.
“Ah Yu! I didn’t call you these past few days on purpose—I figured you’d be too thrilled with married life to bother talking to me, hahahaha.” Jiang Siyue’s cheerful voice came through the phone.
Sui Yu had to admit, as someone who appreciated good voices, Jiang Siyue’s bright and clear tone really caught her ear.
“Happy? Yeah, I guess I am.” Sui Yu answered casually. And it was true, to some extent. At least since the wedding, the plot had started to shift a little. So far, she and Shen Jueshu hadn’t had any major conflicts.
As long as she had no interest in Shen Jueshu, they could keep things civil and respectful.
“If you’re in a good mood, why not come out for a drink?” Jiang Siyue offered.
Sui Yu frowned. Knowing what kind of people Jiang Siyue and the original Sui Yu were, a “drink” could easily turn into one of those wild, indulgent nights.
“I’m married now,” she said, trying to decline politely.
Jiang Siyue raised an eyebrow on the other end. “So what? You’re married—you can’t go out for a drink? Don’t tell me you need your wife’s permission now? Just let her know it’s nothing serious, just the two of us. I’ll make sure you get home safe and sound.”
Just the two of us? That was acceptable. Sui Yu was also curious to meet this person in real life and get a better understanding of who Jiang Siyue really was.
In the novel, it was mentioned that they were childhood friends—both well-known in Linhai City’s high-society circles. The difference was, Jiang Siyue never took part in the twisted things the original Sui Yu had done. In fact, when the original Sui Yu was eventually taken down by the female lead, Jiang Siyue had even helped her.
“Alright. Send me the address—I’ll come to you,” Sui Yu agreed without hesitation.
If the original Sui Yu and Jiang Siyue were really that close, maybe she wouldn’t have to rely on Shen Jueshu for help with the lab situation after all.
She still wanted to keep her distance from Shen Jueshu as much as possible.
By the time she’d changed and gone downstairs, Shen Jueshu was nowhere to be seen. That made Sui Yu breathe a little easier. Hopefully, Shen Jueshu had already gone to rest. The novel had hinted that her overwhelming workload eventually wore her down physically.
But who had taken care of her during that time?
Her fated Alpha.
Since they lived halfway up a mountain, it wasn’t exactly easy to catch a ride. Sui Yu went to the garage to take a look—and when she saw the rows of luxury cars filling the entire space, she let out a low whistle.
She couldn’t help but feel a little bitter. Any one of these cars… is probably worth more than what I could earn in a lifetime.
As she sat down in the car, a strange feeling crept up on her.
It felt like all of this… wasn’t hers.
Like she had stolen someone else’s life.
She curled her lips into a half-smile and shook off the thought. There was no point dwelling on something she couldn’t change. Following the GPS, she drove to the clubhouse Jiang Siyue had mentioned.
After handing the keys to the valet, she asked to be shown to the room number Jiang Siyue had given. As soon as the door opened, she saw a strikingly attractive woman sitting with another, more provocatively dressed woman. They were drinking, playing cards, and occasionally cracking jokes.
Sui Yu frowned. “Didn’t you say it’d just be the two of us?”
Seeing her arrive, the sharp-featured woman gave a clean, pleasant smile, stood up, and dusted off her clothes—even though they were spotless.
“You’re married, so you have an excuse to avoid these things. But I don’t. I still need to keep up appearances.” She led Sui Yu into a back room, leaving the other woman outside with her drink and her phone.
Watching the scene unfold, Sui Yu was full of questions. She couldn’t make sense of what was going on.
Keep up appearances? Why? For whom? The woman outside seemed completely used to this arrangement—calmly scrolling on her phone without a care in the world.
She held onto that question, but didn’t dare show it.
Instead, she followed Jiang Siyue into the inner room, trying to act natural. But when she saw the room filled with even more bottles of alcohol, her confidence began to falter—she knew she couldn’t hold her liquor at all.
Jiang Siyue was about the same height as Sui Yu—around 172 or 173 cm. She had a tall, elegant figure and a striking appearance. Yet she was, surprisingly, an Omega with a white peach-scented pheromone.
That’s right—anyone who saw Jiang Siyue’s face would never guess she was an Omega. Her looks and presence perfectly matched society’s typical image of a female Alpha.
It was because she was an Omega and the original Sui Yu was an Alpha that there had always been rumors of the two being romantically involved.
“Why the sudden urge to drink?” Sui Yu sat down across from her, trying to appear casual, but secretly hoping to learn something she didn’t already know.
She realized that what the novel described was only a snapshot of a moment in time. The story never went deep into the characters’ pasts, nor did it reveal who they truly were beneath the surface.
We, as readers, always see what the author chooses to show—but rarely get to understand who the characters really are.
Take the rumors, for example. The world said she and Jiang Siyue were regulars in nightlife circles. And yes, technically they were. But judging from Jiang Siyue’s earlier behavior—cold and distant toward that other woman—it seemed likely they often invited people to “join” them just to maintain appearances, while keeping them outside like tonight.
But why go through all that?
Jiang Siyue poured herself a drink, then raised her glass with a smile.
“Of course I’m here to congratulate you—on getting exactly what you wanted.”
“Marrying Shen Jueshu.”
Sui Yu quietly held her glass, fingers lightly rubbing the rim, saying nothing. Her mind was swirling with thoughts and hidden meanings.
Seeing her lack of enthusiasm, Jiang Siyue asked, “What’s wrong? Is married life not going well?” Then, almost to herself, she added, “Makes sense… she didn’t marry you willingly after all.”
Those words struck Sui Yu right in the heart. Exactly—because it wasn’t by choice, that’s why this whole situation feels so unstable.
Jiang Siyue suddenly tilted her head back and took a long drink. As the alcohol slid down her throat, tears silently welled up in her eyes. Her expression shifted; her eyes reddened, and she looked at Sui Yu, choking out, “Honestly, I don’t always agree with the way you do things… but I do envy you sometimes—for having the courage to do them.”
Seeing her like that, Sui Yu blinked, a bit unsure.
“Are you… okay?” she asked hesitantly. She really looks like someone with a broken heart.
Jiang Siyue downed the rest of her drink in one go, then covered her face and began to sob.
“Li Jiang, that bastard—why does she have to be so cruel?”
Why did I fall for someone like her?!
Sui Yu froze. Li Jiang? Wasn’t that one of Shen Jueshu’s people? Back when Shen Jueshu escaped from the original Sui Yu’s basement, Li Jiang played a major role. And afterward, when Shen Jueshu sought revenge, Li Jiang stood firmly on her side.
So Jiang Siyue… liked Li Jiang?
That was never mentioned in the novel.
Sui Yu suddenly felt a bit of pity for her. If she remembered right, Li Jiang might have been Shen Jueshu’s friend—but she clearly had feelings for her too.
Honestly, it wasn’t hard to see why. Shen Jueshu was an incredibly capable Omega, and for an Alpha, she was hard not to fall for.
What a mess this story has become.
“You… maybe you should fall for someone else?” Sui Yu suggested cautiously.
Liking Li Jiang felt like a dead end.
Jiang Siyue looked up at her, suddenly indignant.
“Then why don’t you fall for someone else? Why are you so hung up on Shen Jueshu?!”
You even forced her into marriage!
Sui Yu: “…”
“I’ve already given up,” she muttered, looking innocent. “I don’t plan to chase her anymore.”
Jiang Siyue froze, her anger vanishing in an instant.
“What did you say? You’re giving up?”
You married her, and now you’re saying you’re giving up? Do you even hear yourself?
“Mhm,” Sui Yu nodded, a little sheepishly.
“…Then why the hell did you force the marriage?” Jiang Siyue looked absolutely baffled.
Sui Yu blinked and replied in a completely innocent tone, “Because during the wedding, when I was standing at the altar… I suddenly had a moment of clarity. I couldn’t say ‘I do.’ Shen Jueshu doesn’t love me. Forcing it is wrong.”
Jiang Siyue stared at her in silence.
The more she thought about it, the more she realized… this was exactly the kind of thing Sui Yu would do.
“…So what now? You’re married, but you say you don’t love her anymore. What is she supposed to do?”
You basically made her a divorced woman waiting to happen. Bravo.
Sui Yu leaned back on the sofa and shrugged.
“She probably can’t wait for me to get lost. And as compensation, I gave her 20% of the company shares. I even gave her full management rights.”
“What?!” Jiang Siyue practically jumped to her feet. “Are you insane?! Do you know how hard you worked to get that? And now you’re just handing it over?! Have you forgotten everything you went through to get where you are?”
With the way you forced the marriage—now that Shen Jueshu holds that much power—it’d be easy for her to destroy you.
Sui Yu didn’t respond. The truth was, she didn’t know—she didn’t have the original host’s memories.
Jiang Siyue suddenly slumped back into the sofa like she’d lost all strength.
“If even you are giving up… what’s the point in me holding on anymore?”
Back then, Shen Jueshu may have disliked Sui Yu, but she was never cruel. Li Jiang, on the other hand… she had no heart.
Jiang Siyue silently poured herself another drink and said softly, “Actually, if you think about it… giving it to her makes sense. You wanted all that power so you could stand a chance with Shen Jueshu, right? And now, it all ends up in her hands anyway.”
Sui Yu finally took her first sip of the night.
So the original Sui Yu really did love Shen Jueshu? Loved her for a long time?
If that was true, why pretend to be such a womanizer?
“This is all so pointless,” Jiang Siyue muttered, downing another glass. “The things we want are always out of reach, and we’re left walking on eggshells just to stay afloat.”
Sui Yu stayed silent, unsure how to respond.
The two continued drinking. Sui Yu watched Jiang Siyue get more and more drunk and finally reached out to take her glass away.
“You said you’d make sure I got home. Don’t make me have to carry you back instead.”
Strangely, though, being around Jiang Siyue didn’t feel awkward at all. It felt… familiar. Like they really had been friends for years.
“Stop drinking,” Sui Yu said gently. “You’ll regret it if you throw up later.”
Jiang Siyue looked up at her, eyes hazy, and suddenly said,
“If you’re really done chasing Shen Jueshu, then forget Li Jiang. Why don’t we get together instead? Make the rumors true.”
Sui Yu: “…You’re drunk.”
She gave an exasperated sigh. Is love really something you can decide on the spot like that?
Jiang Siyue curled into herself. “Right… You’re still married. That’d make it cheating.”
Then she started crying again. Her tears just wouldn’t stop.
“What’s wrong with me?” she choked out. “Li Jiang doesn’t want me. You don’t want me. Am I really that unlikeable?”
Eventually, she broke down into full-on sobs.
She knew her words were mostly driven by frustration. She didn’t really want to be with Sui Yu. But hearing that rejection still reopened all her wounds.
Li Jiang had rejected her coldly one too many times.
“Tsk…” Sui Yu rubbed her temple, feeling a headache coming on. She couldn’t help but wonder:
What kind of person is Li Jiang, to be able to reject someone like Jiang Siyue?
Judging by looks alone, Jiang Siyue had everything going for her. And from what Sui Yu had seen, she had a good heart too—maybe even a little too innocent.
“There, there,” Sui Yu sighed. “There are so many people in this world—why get hung up on these two broken trees?”
She even included herself in that metaphor.
Jiang Siyue kept crying, though more quietly now, as the alcohol seemed to fully take hold.
Watching her like that, Sui Yu thought:
Love really is the most painful thing of all.
She raised her glass and drank.
Love is cruel. Life is hard. No wonder they say the human world is hell.
Eventually, Sui Yu got tipsy herself. She stood up and helped Jiang Siyue to her feet.
So much had happened tonight—things far beyond anything she could’ve expected.
The story she thought she knew clearly couldn’t prepare her for reality.
As she helped Jiang Siyue stagger out, they found that same woman from earlier still waiting outside. When she saw them, she quickly ruffled her hair, messed up her clothes, applied some makeup to her face, and in no time at all, transformed into a soft, alluring figure.
Sui Yu was stunned by her swift transformation. Before she could react, the woman was already helping her support Jiang Siyue, casting a shy, suggestive glance her way.
“I’ll drive you home,” she said gently.
As they left the room, people they passed gave them looks full of unspoken meaning.
Sui Yu felt numb. Maybe it was the alcohol. She gave the woman their address, then let her drive them home.
When they arrived, the woman even offered to help her inside. But as soon as they stepped through the door, Shen Jueshu appeared at the top of the stairs.
She looked down at them—at their intimate posture, at the woman’s messy hair and smudged makeup—and let out a cold, mocking laugh.
Just as expected, Shen Jueshu thought. You can never trust an Alpha. Especially not Sui Yu.
