Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 19.1
The metallic sound of a sword echoed, and sparks flew in the darkness.
Araseli jumped out of bed and stood protectively in front of me, sword at the ready.
“Lord Yuto, please escape.”
“Escape, but…”
“It’s useless.”
As the man danced into the room, a crashing sound came from beyond the sitting room. It was likely the sound of the soldiers guarding the entrance being attacked.
The large man who leaped in through the window had his face covered with a black cloth, but I recognized the blood-covered, machete-like greatsword. It was the same greatsword used by the bearded man who had sliced my classmate Yamagishi in half right after we were summoned.
“You, the one who was beside the First Princess when we were summoned…”
“Hoho, you recognized me well. But this is the end for you… Woman, that sword of yours can’t withstand my blows.”
In the moonlight filtering through the window, I hadn’t noticed, but blood was dripping from Araseli’s left elbow. She must have been injured by the blow that shattered the window frame.
Suddenly, the bedroom door was violently flung open, and four men with faces also hidden by black cloth entered.
“We’ve finished outside.”
“Alright, let’s end this.”
The masked large man lowered his blood-soaked greatsword and leisurely stepped down from the bed. The difference in power between the large man and Araseli was obvious.
Moreover, the strength of their weapons was worlds apart. The slender sword Araseli held would break if it took a direct hit.
“Lord Yuto, to the bathroom…”
“Useless!”
Just after Araseli instructed me to barricade myself in the bathroom, the masked large man raised his sword. At this rate, the merciless blow would slice Araseli in two, and I would be next.
Along with fear, a burst of anger exploded in my mind at the thought of losing something precious.
“Teleport!”
The machete-like greatsword, raised high, fell onto the bed instead of striking Araseli. The large man’s body was split diagonally from his left shoulder to his right flank, just like Yamagishi that day. Dragged down by the weight of the greatsword, he collapsed, spilling his innards.
I had taken a gamble and used the severance teleportation magic I had secretly practiced at every meal. Its sharpness left even me, the caster, in stunned amazement.
“What the…”
Araseli, who had been facing the large man, and the four masked men who had barged in afterward, froze in confusion, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Until a moment ago, they had been certain of their successful ambush, but in an instant, the tide had turned as they lost their strongest fighter.
“How… goh…”
The masked man’s mouth moved as he lay on the floor, but no meaningful sound came out. His right hand, which had dropped the greatsword, lifted slightly but soon fell lifelessly to the floor.
The room was enveloped in a silence as still as water. It must have taken a full ten seconds for the world to start moving again.
“Ah… aahh…”
