Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 29.1
That morning, as usual, I visited the area where the royal family lives, but the inside of the castle felt different, the atmosphere was clearly tense.
“Good morning, is something wrong?”
I asked the soldier guarding the bridge over the moat, but he couldn’t give me a clear answer.
“You should ask Prince Alberic for the details. We can’t decide whether it’s okay to talk about it.”
“Understood, thank you.”
Currently, my greatest concern is the classmates who went to the border with the eastern neighboring country, Fulmelinta. I have a bad feeling.
Even when I reached the room where the procedure is performed, Alberic did not appear.
As time passed without Alberic showing up, my bad feeling turned into a certainty.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Yuto.”
“Good morning, Your Highness.”
“I’d like to get started with the procedure right away… but I need to explain why I was late.”
From Alberic’s expression and tone, my bad feeling turned into a definite conviction.
“You’re sharp, Yuto, so you might have already guessed, but we’ve entered into a conflict with Fulmelinta.”
“Isn’t it the usual skirmishes that happen every year?”
“Unfortunately, it’s turned into a full-fledged battle. It seems Belnort’s forces have occupied the disputed island.”
Alberic spat out the words as if they were bitter.
From inside the Kingdom of Yurefelt, it appears that the second prince’s faction is conducting operations, but for Fulmelinta, it doesn’t matter which faction it is.
They probably see it as an invasion by the Kingdom of Yurefelt.
“Your Highness, are those who were summoned with me involved in this battle?”
“Not just involved, they were sent to the front lines.”
“What? Are there casualties?”
“I don’t know the exact number, but it seems some have lost their lives.”
“Oh, no…”
I forgot I was in front of the first prince and looked up at the ceiling, holding my head in despair.
Later, I learned about the situation through Alberic. It seems the attack was conducted recklessly without any proper strategy.
For the past few years, only skirmishes to alleviate the residents’ dissatisfaction were conducted, so Fulmelinta didn’t expect a serious invasion. As a result, the checkpoint was broken, and my classmates managed to invade.
Most of the buildings on the upper side of the road controlled by Fulmelinta were burned down, and many non-combatant residents lost their lives.
After my classmates’ invasion, the second prince’s troops arrived one after another, taking control of the entire island. Now, both armies are glaring at each other over the bridge on Fulmelinta’s side.
“Prince Alberic, isn’t this situation among the worst possible scenarios?”
“Yes… although the combat zone is limited to the island for now, if the battle spreads, it could turn into a full-scale war.”
Alberic tried to remain calm, but I could sense his inner turmoil.
Is the king not saying anything about this situation, where a war with a neighboring country could break out?
“Your Highness, what does the king say about this?”
“My father…”
Alberic muttered, frowning and falling silent.
I heard that the current king was a son-in-law from one of the three major marquis families, but could it be that he can’t issue orders to the military?
