Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 9.2
I mean, you sold me these buttons, so that expression isn’t really appropriate. That said, you can’t see the fine burrs unless you look closely.
They certainly look better than the plain wooden buttons.
“Tariq, let’s grab something to eat. You’ve been helping me out a lot, so it’s on me.”
“Really? In that case, I’ll show you a cheap and delicious place.”
“Sounds good. Let’s go there.”
The place Tariq took me to was the Escrode version of a curry shop. Although it didn’t use the complex spices commonly found in Japanese curry, the way it was served over white rice and eaten with a spoon was quite similar.
The only choices were the amount of rice and the type of meat, but there was an unglazed jar filled with chili peppers on the table, allowing you to adjust the spiciness to your liking. A deep dish of rice topped with a tomato-flavored sauce, charred green, yellow, and red peppers, and a large piece of chicken thigh for seventy fal was quite affordable.
As soon as our plates were placed on the table, Tariq scooped out chili peppers from the jar with a wooden spoon and sprinkled them generously over his plate, then handed me the jar with a smirk. This was clearly a challenge.
Naturally, I sprinkled the same amount of chili peppers on my plate, then scooped out a bit more and added it before calmly placing the jar back on the table.
“Nice one, Yuto…”
Tariq, taking the jar again, heaped a mountain of chili peppers onto his plate. His face seemed to twitch slightly.
Tariq, arms crossed and with a smug look, returned the jar to the table. I ignored his attempt at showing off.
“Let’s eat before it gets cold.”
“Yeah… sure…”
I didn’t sprinkle extra chili peppers to show off; I just happen to like spicy food.
“This is delicious! The spiciness really kicks in, but it’s so good!”
“Right? This spiciness… ugh…”
Tariq’s face turned bright red as he fell silent, with sweat pouring down his forehead.
“What’s wrong, Tariq? Don’t hold back, it’s my treat.”
“Yeah… right… Thanks, Yuto… ugh!”
By the third bite, Tariq couldn’t hide his struggle with the spiciness. Many customers in the shop laughed as they watched him.
After refilling his water five or six times, Tariq finally finished his meal, his lips swollen like tarako.
“Yuto, let’s get something sweet to cleanse our palate… oh no, the curry splattered on my best clothes…”
“Don’t worry, Tariq. Just lean forward and pull your shirt.”
“Like this?”
“Yes, hold still… Transfer!”
With my well-honed stain removal technique, a curry stain was no problem.
“No way… that’s amazing… You saved me, Yuto.”
“Alright, the next place is on you, Tariq.”
“Fair enough. Considering the stain removal, it’s a cheap price to pay.”
Cheered up, Tariq and I started walking towards the dessert shop, but the street ahead suddenly became noisy.
People walking ahead turned around and started coming back.
“It’s the second prince! Watch out, it’s the second prince!”
Confused by the commotion, I was pulled aside by Tariq.
“This way, Yuto.”
“What’s happening?”
