Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 35.1
I hadn’t considered how intelligent a wyvern might be. I had thought about its size, physical abilities, and habits, but not about its level of intelligence.
I don’t know if it assessed the situation the moment it woke up or if it had been pretending to sleep while awake, but it definitely moved faster than we had anticipated.
The one who screamed was Emelian, who was bitten by the suddenly awakened wyvern and then immediately spat out.
Perhaps the wyvern didn’t like the taste of the metal armor, as it spat out Emelian, but his armor’s chest plate was crushed, and blood gushed from the holes made by the wyvern’s teeth. He couldn’t even get up, possibly because his spine was broken.
“Damn, my bad feeling was right! Don’t just stand there, move!”
Radin, with his large shield, tried to get between the stunned knights of Emelian’s team and the wyvern, but in the next moment, he was slammed against the warehouse wall. The wyvern had swept him away with its wings.
Seeing the massive Radin, who was built like a football player and clad in full metal armor, fly through the air like a paper doll left me stunned.
Fortunately, he wasn’t dead, but the impact left him unable to get up.
As I stood there, dazed, Araseli pulled my arm forcefully.
“Graaaarrr!”
The knights from Emelian’s team, who had been standing still until a moment ago, ran past me, and the wyvern’s huge mouth followed.
If Araseli hadn’t pulled me, I would have been eaten, and two of the knights were crushed by the wyvern’s jaws. Everything happened in an instant, but from the moment Araseli started pulling me, the scene seemed to play out in slow motion.
Whether it was the so-called superhuman strength in a crisis or the phenomenon of seeing one’s life flash before their eyes, I managed to activate my magic at that moment thanks to my regular training.
“Transfer!”
“Gaaaah!”
Since I activated the spell while rolling, I couldn’t produce enough power to sever, but blood spurted from the wyvern’s neck where it was biting the two knights. The wyvern’s large eyes rolled and focused on me.
“Yuto, get up!”
Reacting to her words, I stood up reflexively, and Araseli grabbed me and threw us backward. The wyvern’s wing grazed us with tremendous wind pressure, knocking down Hafiz, the fire mage, who was behind us.
Hafiz, who was slammed against the warehouse wall, fell near Radin. His neck twisted at an impossible angle, and he convulsed grotesquely.
The idea that the wyvern couldn’t fly in the warehouse and thus our attacks would reach it was overly optimistic.
While the wyvern couldn’t fly, we also had limited escape routes. Mauro’s team was attacking one of the three wyverns as planned.
Meanwhile, Saeed, the kingdom’s spear, had taken over the attack on the wyvern Emelian’s team was supposed to handle. In that case, I thought I could escape now, but the wyvern I had wounded was blocking the door.
Avoiding that powerful wing sweep and getting to the door was impossible. In that case, there was only one thing to do.
“Araseli, we’ll take down the wyvern in front of us and escape through the corridor. Tell me when to move.”
“Understood.”
The wind mage Urum was attacking the wounded wyvern, but it didn’t seem to be very effective.
「Groooooaaaaarrr!」
“Damn it, how tough is this thing…”
Urum seemed to be striking with blades of wind, but it appeared that a wind-affinity wyvern was a poor match for such an attack.
“Lord Yuto, I’ll circle to the right side of the wyvern. Let’s target its wings while it’s distracted by Urum.”
“Got it.”
