Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 39.1
Running down the castle corridors and slipping into a hidden passageway, the roar of the rampaging wyvern grows fainter.
As we descend the narrow stairs and pass through the door, Radin, who was leading the way, slows his pace.
“Yuto, are you hurt anywhere?”
“No, the mission was a success.”
“Yes, we managed to take down the wyvern as planned. It was a great success. However, I’m worried about the other wyvern that appeared afterward.”
The goal of this mission was to use my severing transfer magic to kill a wyvern, while the other teams were supposed to hold off the rest of the wyverns.
However, near the end of the mission, another wyvern appeared at our target’s location.
Was it because the other teams couldn’t hold their ground, or was it…
“Could it be that a new wyvern has appeared…”
“Stop it, Yuto. I don’t want to think about any more wyverns showing up.”
“Yeah, you’re right… I guess we’ll find out when we get back to the hall.”
“Exactly. I hope everyone is safe…”
Radin, known as the Kingdom’s Shield, is a burly man with a face half-covered in a thick beard. His stern appearance could make a child cry, but he’s a friendly and considerate person when you get to know him.
When we first passed through the door at the bottom of the stairs, he smiled broadly like a lion dancer, but his expression has become more worried as we move further down the passage.
“Have the others returned?”
“No, Radin-sama, you are the first.”
“I see…”
Radin asked the knight guarding the entrance to the underground hall, and it seemed we were the first to return.
As we were handed cups of water by the waiting attendants, the king, hearing our voices, appeared.
“Radin, you’re back. How did it go?”
“Yuto’s magic inflicted a deep wound on a wyvern’s belly. Its blood was gushing out, and its entrails were spilling, so it should be dead soon.”
“I see, well done!”
The king, smiling broadly, walked over to me after hearing Radin’s report.
“Yuto, you’ve done well. This makes it the third wyvern you’ve taken down, doesn’t it?”
“No, it was thanks to Radin-san, Mauro-sama, Saed-san, Araseli, and many others who helped with the preparations.”
“Yuto, you’re always so humble. But without you, we couldn’t have killed the wyvern. I will make sure you are properly rewarded for this achievement.”
“Thank you.”
The king also expressed his gratitude to Mauro, Saed, and Araseli.
With such consideration and decisiveness, one would think the king could quickly end the succession dispute, but the factional strife dividing the kingdom is not so easily resolved.
While we were receiving the king’s praise, the team that had been distracting the other wyverns returned to the hall.
The first to return was the team that had been dealing with the two wyverns in the dance hall, but they were quite exhausted, and some were injured.
“Are you alright, Leuven? Is everyone safe?”
Saed, who ran over, called out to the knight leading the team.
Leuven, who seemed utterly exhausted, smiled and clenched his fist.
“One guy has a broken bone, but no one is fatally wounded. We’re safe.”
“I see, that’s a relief.”
“By the way, you took one down, didn’t you?”
“We didn’t deliver the killing blow, but it was mortally wounded and won’t survive.”
“Then there are three left.”
“Yes, let’s take back the castle from these wyverns.”
Seeing Saed and Leuven bump fists, a cheer rose from those in the hall, brightening the atmosphere for a moment, but the joy was short-lived.
