Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 43.2
If the first shot misses, the second and third shots probably won’t hit either. But if the first shot lands, it should be a fatal blow. I’ll follow Saed’s wishes here.
Besides me performing the wall penetration attack, the knights who had been distracting the wyverns until the day before will also participate in this attack. Their role is to hold off the other wyvern after we attack the first one.
Whether the wyvern wakes up or not, we plan to end this battle today. With the final approach routes and positions confirmed, the time for the decisive battle arrived, and Saed gave his final instructions.
“Listen up, today we will end the battle with the wyverns. We’ll show those lizards who pushed us into this hole how foolish they were. When this is over, we’ll drink plenty, so be ready… let’s go!”
“Yeah!”
Saed’s joking tone indicated his confidence in the success of the operation, and the participating knights and soldiers also radiated confidence. I was carried along by the atmosphere, but I couldn’t shake off the anxiety in the pit of my stomach.
The thought of a death flag kept lingering in my mind. Sensing my unease, Araseli squeezed my hand.
“Let’s end this, Yuto-sama.”
“Yeah, I’m tired of living underground.”
I wouldn’t say it out loud, but I thought to myself that once this is over, I’ll spend a lot of intimate time with Araseli.
Taking a different passage from yesterday, we headed above ground. The distance from the underground hall was shorter today, so everyone walked silently, suppressing their footsteps.
As soon as we passed through the door, we could hear the wyverns’ snores. The heavy, low sound didn’t seem like it came from a living creature, but I was used to it now.
We separated from the decoy team halfway down the corridor and continued toward the hall. The wyverns’ snores echoed off the hall walls, making it seem like our entire bodies were vibrating.
In this volume of sound, our footsteps probably couldn’t be heard… but thinking like that could be fatal. We carefully, cautiously walked into the lounge adjacent to the hall.
Entering the lounge made the wyverns’ snores quieter, but we weren’t farther away. I visualized the wyverns’ positions on the floor plan in my head and approached the wall where I thought their heads would be.
I signaled to Saed, checked the spot through the wall, and saw the wyverns. We were ready, just waiting for the wyverns to wake up and move. But suddenly, a shock rose from beneath our feet.
Immediately after, we were hit by a strong horizontal shake. Of all times, to have an earthquake now, our timing couldn’t have been worse.
The shaking blurred my vision, making it difficult to aim, but I forcibly activated the magic.
“Transfer!”
“Gwaaaaa!”
With the wyvern’s scream, the wall separating the lounge and the entrance hall was destroyed.
Just before, Araseli had pulled me down, and thanks to the shields held by Saed and Radin, I avoided the direct impact of the debris, but I was thrown in front of the injured wyvern.
The door to the lounge was blocked by debris, cutting off our escape route.
A silver flash streaked towards the large mouth of the wyvern, which was baring its sharp fangs and approaching.
“Gyaaaaa…”
