Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 55.1
About twenty days had passed since the commotion involving Tariq.
I had been reminded of my powerlessness once again and had spent the time tightening my resolve, which had loosened after defeating the wyvern.
I also reviewed the process of removing the curse mark of Ao-Yami to make it more efficient, and I had already completed the treatment for the Second Princess, Bridget. Frankly, continuing the treatment in that position had been tough, so I was really relieved it was over.
Queen Sharlene, who had been observing the treatment, asked me if this method could also be applied to beauty, given that it could remove accumulated pigments. Indeed, if I wanted, I could also remove spots or moles.
In fact, the treatment for the First Prince, Alberic, could be described as a facial beautification and whitening procedure. Even though Ms. Umino uses magic in her beauty treatments to rejuvenate the skin, she cannot remove spots that have already formed.
In Japan, there are technologies like laser treatments that can remove spots, but such technologies do not exist in this world. In other words, if Ms. Umino and I teamed up, we could offer the perfect facial treatment… that’s what Sharlene seemed to imply.
“You know, Sir Kirikaze, women are concerned about colors in other places as well.”
Sharlene whispered something unbelievable to me. It might be true that some women care about those areas, but I really didn’t want to perform treatments while staring at such places.
The treatment for the First Prince, Alberic, had now progressed to around his eyes. All that remained was a bit of work on his cheeks, lips, and neck.
At this rate, I should be able to finish the treatment in less than a month. The hair growing from the treated areas of his scalp had already returned to his natural blond color.
There were no issues with the treatment’s effectiveness, and as Alberic’s face regained its fairness, Queen Sharlene’s mood improved noticeably. Given the past misdeeds of the Second Prince, Bernolt, it was almost certain that Alberic would be crowned the next king.
The reconstruction of the castle town, which Alberic was overseeing, was also proceeding smoothly. Many of the destroyed buildings were simple structures, not much more than shacks, so with materials and subsidies provided, the residents had been able to handle most of the restoration themselves.
As for the castle itself, extensive repairs were needed, so it wasn’t something that could be finished quickly. However, even if the repairs weren’t completed, events could still be held by opening other facilities.
Despite the devastation caused by the wyvern migration, the capital and its surroundings were gradually returning to their usual state with each passing day.
On the other hand, there were things that had not progressed at all: the recovery of the Eberwein Duchy, which had been taken by Fulmelinta.
According to rumors that Ms. Umino had picked up about twenty days ago, the Second Prince’s forces were supposedly winning battle after battle, having reclaimed half of the stolen territory in no time. If you did the math from the date when the Second Prince’s army had departed, that would mean they achieved all that in just two or three days, but it was merely pre-planned propaganda.
Now, twenty days later, the reports from the Second Prince’s faction claimed that they had pushed Fulmelinta’s forces back to the middle of the river, but the actual situation was vastly different.
According to the First Prince’s faction’s intelligence network, which Araseli belonged to, they had barely reclaimed any territory at all.
When the Second Prince, Bernolt’s, forces attacked, the Fulmelinta soldiers occupying Eberwein simply began to retreat. However, when Bernolt’s army, thinking it was an opportunity, pursued them, the hidden Fulmelinta troops attacked from the flanks, throwing Bernolt’s forces into total disarray.
Moreover, the retreating Fulmelinta forces counterattacked, pushing Bernolt’s army back to their original position.
“How much has Yurefelt suffered?”
“I don’t have precise numbers, but it’s estimated to be between five thousand and ten thousand.”
“What about Fulmelinta?”
“Even at most, around two thousand.”
While I was treating Alberic, Araseli gathered information, and during dinner, we compared it with the rumors Ms. Umino and the others had heard, but the outlook was grim. It seemed that Yurefelt had underestimated the enemy and was suffering from severe counterattacks.
“From what I’m hearing, it sounds like Fulmelinta is going to end up keeping the territory.”
“Things aren’t going well in the west, but it seems the northern front is making steady progress.”
“Really?”
“Yes, Viscount Selkink, who governs the northern part of Eberwein, has been steadily reclaiming land with cautious tactics.”
Viscount Selkink was a noble loyal to the First Prince, and he had been advancing southward along the river that marks the border between Yurefelt and Fulmelinta. Although his pace was slow, he was fortifying his reclaimed land and repelling Fulmelinta’s counterattacks.
“If Viscount Selkink’s forces continue to advance, Fulmelinta’s army will be exposed to attacks from the flanks, forcing them to retreat.”
“A steady flanking attack would be a nightmare for Fulmelinta.”
“Yes, and if they’re not careful, their frontline could become isolated and suffer a two-pronged attack.”
“So, if Viscount Selkink’s army keeps advancing, Fulmelinta might have to retreat.”
