Disappointing Teleportation Magic ~ Even Though The Movement Distance Is Only 1 Millimeter, I Will Rise Through Ingenuity ~ - Chapter 61.1
On the day of departure for Fulmelinta, the royal family wanted to hold various ceremonies, but I asked them to cancel all of it.
We are still in the process of recovering from the Wyvern migration, and I suggested that the funds for the farewell be redirected towards that effort.
Moreover, if they were to treat me as the hero who slew the Wyvern, it would only demoralize the public to see such a person taken by Fulmelinta.
It’s better to leave subtly, like a typical noble returning to their territory, without drawing attention from anyone.
The journey to Fulmelinta will be by a four-horse carriage. Accompanying us are a driver, someone in charge of the arrangements along the way, and four knight escorts.
Until Alberic’s treatment was completed, I lived in fear of the Second Prince faction’s shadow, but now that I’m being offered as a valuable tribute to Fulmelinta, there’s no concern about being targeted.
Still, having four knights as escorts seems to be more about royal pride and the knights’ gratitude.
I tried to decline, but when Radin said that we couldn’t let a comrade who fought alongside us leave without protection, I couldn’t refuse.
As the carriage left the castle, Araseli, sitting next to me, started a conversation.
“Lord Yuto, was it really fine to refuse the send-off?”
“I’m not a fan of formalities, so it’s better without a send-off from the king or the princes. Besides, there are people I’d rather not face.”
We were summoned by the First Princess Aurelia, and while I saw her a few times in the underground evacuation space, she completely ignored me. Maybe she didn’t notice me, or perhaps she pretended not to.
Because of her, many of my classmates lost their lives. I’d love to slice her in half, but facing punishment for that wouldn’t be worth it.
I advised Alberic to weaken the Second Prince’s power, but I doubt how much he can actually accomplish. Compared to Bernolt, he’s a more decent prince, but his ideals are too lofty, and he’s too rigid—his realistic judgment seems lacking.
Since I don’t know how I’ll be treated in Fulmelinta, I couldn’t bring Umino and the others along, so I asked the king and Alberic to protect them. However, I’m relying on Ludienne for their actual protection.
Ludienne and Ekkels seem more reliable than the overly kind prince.
I parted ways with Umino and the others in front of their lodging. All three of them wanted to see me off, but I told them it’s not a final farewell, so it’s better to just leave casually, and they agreed.
Once I establish a foundation for living in Fulmelinta, I plan to have the three of them brought over.
Since then, I’ve spent two nights with Umino.
I originally intended it to be a one-time thing, but when Umino came to my bedroom in place of Araseli, I couldn’t turn her away.
Even I think I’m an undisciplined man, but I couldn’t stop myself from feeling the same affection for Umino as I do for Araseli.
When we parted in front of the lodging, Umino placed both hands on her belly, smiled, and nodded.
It wasn’t a smile of hope, but one of certainty, I believe.
I probably shouldn’t think like this, but it made me a little scared.
By the time I bring Umino and the others to Fulmelinta, the number of people I’ll need to support might not be just three.
“Lord Yuto, why do you look so happy?”
“Well, since I came to this world, I’ve only left the castle three times. One of those times, I was just paraded around as a hero, and the other time, I was attacked by Kawamoto and his group. So it’s only natural I’d be happy to travel and see new places by carriage like this.”
“But Lord Yuto, you’ve worked so hard…”
“Oh, let’s not talk about that anymore.”
“But…”
