Divorce Application - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Divorce
“Miss Liu, I am Mr. Li’s private lawyer. This is the drafted divorce agreement. Please take a look. If there are no issues, you can sign it.”
On the balcony of a mountain villa, a lawyer in a suit hands a slightly thick folder to the woman sitting there.
The woman is very young and has an outstanding appearance. Even in today’s entertainment industry, which is full of beautiful women, she is one of the best.
The glass partition cuts the intense afternoon light, leaving only a gentle halo that outlines her silhouette, but it doesn’t soften her sharp curves much. The woman is too thin, so thin that a gust of wind could almost break her.
Liu Sinan doesn’t turn around. She just stares at the garden below, her gaze so calm it’s almost dead.
She subconsciously grips the raised edge of the chair, trying to suppress her involuntary trembling.
“Is she really going to divorce me?”
A crack finally appears in Liu Sinan’s expression. Her eyes reveal unbearable pain and incomprehensible bewilderment.
The person who once regarded her as a star in the sky, who used all her gentleness to cherish and pamper her for nearly seven years, is suddenly going to abandon her.
But within this bewilderment, there is a hint of something she had already glimpsed.
Their marriage was initiated by Li Jinping.
Li Jinping, a renowned international jewelry magnate, owns countless companies and brands, and her wealth has accumulated to a terrifying level.
She is a figure who can cause an upheaval in the jewelry, entertainment, real estate, and even financial industries with a single stomp of her foot.
Yet, this influential person used all her gentleness, sincerity, and influence seven years ago to forcefully bring Liu Sinan back to the country, marry her, and enter into a marriage that everyone envied.
Liu Sinan had protested and tried to escape, but in the end, she stayed in this villa, entangled with her for seven years.
However, Liu Sinan always held a grudge.
She was always temperamental, willful, and rebellious. She put up her thorns, stabbing at Li Jinping, and ultimately at herself.
A year ago, Li Jinping started coming back to this villa less and less. They spent only half of their time together this year, and three months ago, they had such a fierce argument that it reached an irreconcilable point.
It was then that Li Jinping brought up the divorce.
Her tone was as elegant and pleasant as ever, but it carried an unquestionable forcefulness: “Sinan, let’s get a divorce.”
Liu Sinan’s mind went blank at the time. The pride she had held in front of Li Jinping for so many years made her agree without hesitation: “Okay.”
But after she hung up, she felt completely empty.
She spent three months processing the news, and Li Jinping’s private lawyer finally finished inventorying their joint marital assets and came to split them with her.
Liu Sinan didn’t see the words on the divorce agreement clearly. Her eyes were clouded with tears. In a daze, she signed her name, feeling as if her whole being was sinking into an unrecoverable void.
Seeing her in such pain, the lawyer was a little moved, but his tone remained professional. “Now that you two are officially divorced, this villa is Mr. Li’s pre-marital property. Miss Liu has ample time to pack her belongings and leave.”
Liu Sinan’s eyes finally showed some emotion. She grabbed the lawyer’s sleeve and said almost inaudibly, “Did she… did she leave any words for me?”
The lawyer lowered his eyes and shook his head. “Mr. Li did not leave any message.”
No words.
Only a cold eviction.
Liu Sinan walked barefoot up the stairs, one step at a time, back to her room.
That person really didn’t want her anymore.
Like a zombie, she returned to her room and sat down, when she suddenly felt her stomach churn. She rushed to the bathroom and threw up for a long time.
She hadn’t eaten anything in days, so nothing came out, but she felt like she was retching her stomach out.
She lay weakly on the cold bathroom floor. The icy surface sent a chilling sensation through her.
Only then did she feel a true sense of reality.
This was their master bedroom, in the center of the third floor. Everything here was designed and decorated by the two of them.
The floor lamp, the overhead window, the curtains, the desk, the fan…
Even the peach-scented incense by the bathtub was something they carried back from a trip abroad.
She remembers insisting on spending $200 on this seemingly roughly made incense, just because the seller was a little girl in ragged clothes.
Li Jinping had no choice but to buy everything from the girl’s stall. Then she took Liu Sinan’s hand and whispered, “We gave her the money, but let’s not take the incense. Our luggage isn’t big enough.”
At that time, Liu Sinan only felt that Li Jinping disliked the low-quality incense, seeing it as the condescending pity of a person in a high position toward a poor person. So she was persistent and insisted on bringing all of it back, even lighting a stick every time she bathed.
At that time, there seemed to be a hint of surprise in Li Jinping’s eyes, but what was more evident was her silent tolerance and doting love.
But no one could have predicted that the person who once held her in her arms, called her her muse and her destined lover, and promised to use all her love to cherish her, would one day be so eager to divorce her.
And even to make her move out of the home they shared for seven years.
This time, Liu Sinan couldn’t hold back anymore. She covered her face and began to cry.
She felt so miserable, her emotions had nowhere to go, so they turned into tears flowing freely. At some point, she cried herself to sleep. When she woke up, she was still lying on the hard floor.
In front of her was the worried Housekeeper Wang.
She had been Li’s family’s nanny since childhood, raised Li Jinping, and had watched their marriage fall apart step by step.
But seeing Liu Sinan like this, she couldn’t help but feel a little sympathy.
“Why are you sleeping here? Get into bed,” Housekeeper Wang said from the doorway. “Are you hungry? I’ll go make something to eat.”
“I’m not hungry,” Liu Sinan said, her voice hoarse, barely audible. She was startled by her own voice and was silent for a moment before saying in a low voice, “I’ll be fine after a little sleep.”
Housekeeper Wang exited the bedroom and quietly closed the door.
The room fell silent again, but Liu Sinan, who was now back in bed, couldn’t fall asleep again.
On the second and third days, she dragged her feet while packing her belongings, not knowing how long she could stall. Fortunately, no one rushed her.
She didn’t have many belongings. Although she was an excellent model, she didn’t keep a lot of extra clothes at home.
Every time she went out for work, her studio would send clothes. Wearing haute couture gowns from various brands that hadn’t been released yet and jewelry custom-made by Li Jinping, she would walk on the runway with a professional model’s stride. Surrounded by camera flashes, she was the unique center of attention.
But now, she’s like a stray dog, completely kicked out of the house by her owner, with nowhere to go.
Liu Sinan packed two suitcases, finally stalling until the very end.
She opened her contact list, a place she had opened countless times before, and her finger hovered over the name “Li Jinping,” then stopped.
What more could they possibly say to each other?
Or rather, what was left to say between them?
In the end, Liu Sinan still dialed Li Jinping’s number.
After all, she was moving out of their home, so she should let her know.
To let her know that she was leaving for good.
The phone rang for a long time before someone finally answered.
“Hello, may I help you? Are you looking for Mr. Li?” a soft female voice came from the other end. The background was very quiet.
Liu Sinan’s mind was a mess, feeling as if she had been hit on the head. She didn’t know the person on the other end. She knew all of Li Jinping’s assistants, but she had never heard this voice before.
“Hello? Are you still there?” the voice on the other end urged.
But even the urging was in a soft tone, like a sun-warmed marshmallow, making it impossible to get angry.
But Liu Sinan felt a sense of irritation in that soft tone. She said coldly, “Yes, I have something to say to her. Put her on the phone.”
The person on the other end seemed to freeze for a moment, a little at a loss because of her sudden coldness. “Okay, alright. But Mr. Li is resting now. Could you leave your information?”
The hand Liu Sinan was holding the phone with started to tremble. “Doesn’t she have my contact information saved?”
The person on the other end seemed to check their phone. “No, she doesn’t. There’s only a string of numbers.”
The other end was all business. “Do you need me to leave a message for you?”
Liu
The other end paused, a little hesitant. “But Mr. Li doesn’t have any time recently.”
Liu Sinan closed her eyes. It seemed a certain hidden emotion was slowly collapsing, tearing a small hole in her heart, from which bitter and unspeakable emotions flowed. “Then please… tell her to call Liu Sinan back.”
“Oh, so it’s Miss Liu,” the voice on the other end seemed to have suddenly realized her identity and chuckled softly. “I will inform Mr. Li.”
