Divorce Application - Chapter 35.2
Chapter 35.2
It was Wu Tianqi’s turn to give her vote. Wu Tianqi commented on Liu Sinan’s physical performance. His words were few but very precise. “For dancing, models have a great advantage.”
Then he gave her his vote and pressed the button.
Only You Yiyang and Bai Mei were left.
The camera was on You Yiyang. You Yiyang tilted his head, frowned, and directed the cameraman to a suitable position before picking up the microphone and asking, “Ms. Liu, you should be dancing modern dance, but I have a question.”
Liu Sinan nodded. “Please ask.”
You Yiyang’s expression didn’t change. He was still frowning and said with dissatisfaction, “Modern dance emphasizes aesthetics, but does Ms. Liu think her dance just now had any aesthetics?”
This question was very sharp.
“A dance tells a story, but all I see from this dance is messiness, patchwork, and disorder,” You Yiyang shook his head and said to Liu Sinan, “Being sophisticated and being a maverick are not the same thing. And for dance, no matter what kind of dance it is, you can’t lose the sense of ‘aesthetics’.”
The entire audience fell silent. More than half of the audience were You Yiyang’s fans. You Yiyang was a celebrity and had a large and loyal fan base. The fans were accustomed to blindly praising their idol. When their idol criticized Liu Sinan’s dance, they also remained silent.
Liu Sinan raised the microphone. “From ancient times to the present, ‘aesthetics’ has been passed down as a form of art, and the definition of ‘beauty’ is even more diverse…”
You Yiyang interrupted her before she could finish. “I’m sorry, but I’m choosing to not give a card.”
Liu Sinan paused, then quietly shut up. Her expression was very calm.
There was a small murmur from the audience, but it was just a very small sound.
Everyone had their own aesthetic preferences, but as a judge, one should have a certain level of professionalism and not make arbitrary decisions based on their own “aesthetics.”
This person was either arrogant and conceited, or they had a prejudice against her.
Liu Sinan gave up on arguing with him.
Now, only Bai Mei’s vote was left. If she gave her vote, Liu Sinan would advance directly. If she didn’t, Liu Sinan would temporarily stay and go through an elimination round.
Liu Sinan quickly shifted her attention to Ms. Bai Mei. In her anticipation and hope, a little nervousness arose.
“I’d like to answer Judge You’s question first,” Ms. Bai Mei said. Her voice didn’t sound old. Instead, it was very pleasant, low, and beautiful. “Can’t messiness, patchwork, and disorder be beautiful?”
“If Judge You likes to read, I recommend reading some magical realism literature. The stream-of-consciousness writing is not only chaotic but also has a lot of ‘patchwork.’ If you like photography, you can look at photos from photography competitions. Messiness can bring a rich expression of light and shadow, capturing reality in the most authentic way. If you like music, you can listen to some rock and punk.”
When Bai Mei said this, her gaze was always calmly on the stage and she didn’t turn her head to look at him.
After she finished speaking, she didn’t comment on Liu Sinan. She directly gave her a card and pressed the button, not giving You Yiyang a chance to respond.
Liu Sinan was listening attentively to Bai Mei’s comments. Before she could even process them, a light suddenly lit up above her head, followed by the music of promotion, and silver confetti fell from above.
Wang Wan’er smiled and said, “Congratulations to Ms. Liu for advancing directly.”
She advanced?
Liu Sinan was still a little dazed when she left the stage.
Amid her daze, there was also a little bit of happiness.
Ms. Bai Mei gave her a card!
And she spoke up for her!
And she let her advance!
Liu Sinan was so happy she felt like she was flying. She tried hard to suppress her joy. After she entered the waiting room, she took a big gulp of the water that Qi Qi handed her and then said ecstatically, “Did you see that?!”
“I saw it. Congratulations on advancing, boss,” Qi Qi smiled reluctantly. “But You Yiyang’s comments about you were really harsh.”
Liu Sinan didn’t care at all. She heard it and forgot it. “What did he say? Was there anything worth remembering, or was it just targeted comments?”
Qi Qi shook her head and pouted. “He didn’t say anything worthwhile.”
Liu Sinan comforted her a little, put You Yiyang out of her mind, and opened her phone to text Lan Qi that she was safe.
Not long after, after all the contestants had performed, the contestants who advanced needed to be grouped again into three teams to compete.
There were twelve contestants during the rehearsal, and there were indeed twelve left on stage.
In the waiting room, Liu Sinan had clearly seen at least twenty people. Many of them were familiar faces in the entertainment industry. It seemed that many of them were just there to get some exposure and would be eliminated after one episode.
The remaining twelve people were divided into three groups by drawing lots.
Wang Wan’er stood in front of the contestants and read the rules. “First, based on the scores from the live audience, the top three contestants will be selected as team captains. The remaining nine contestants will take turns drawing lots to choose their teams.”
“The captain of the first team is Li Chaoran.”
Liu Sinan had already heard of him. He was a young actor who was in movies. He didn’t have a huge fan base, but the quality of his fans was extremely high. You could see Li Chaoran’s name in the acknowledgments of many doctoral dissertations, such as, “Thank you to Li Chaoran’s movies for comforting me on every night I was balding from writing my thesis” and “Thank you, Li Chaoran, for your beauty that allows my eyes to rest in my busy life.”
Li Chaoran’s dancing was pretty good. After all, he was a professionally trained actor, and his physique was very good.
After Li Chaoran stood up, he smiled at the camera. He didn’t have the popular boyish look or the tough guy look. Instead, he had a more elegant and大气 look. His overall facial features were very refined and well-defined, making him very photogenic. His eyes seemed to be able to talk and were very good on camera.
He stood under the song “Breaking the Vows” and was the captain of the first team.
“The captain of the second team is Feng Nini.”
Feng Nini was also an actress, but she was older than Li Chaoran. She was not very popular and was in an awkward stage where she couldn’t take on the roles of young girls but also couldn’t bring herself to take on the roles of “mothers and mothers-in-law.” Her goal was very clear and utilitarian, which was to appear on the show to increase her exposure.
So the dance she prepared was not for a perfect performance. Instead, she tried to maximize her strengths and show her characteristics.
She stood under the song “Old Love and New Love” and was the captain of the second team.
“The captain of the third team is Feng Mingming.”
Feng Mingming’s bun was still not undone. She danced classical dance today. She performed after Liu Sinan, and besides Bai Mei’s vote, the other judges all let her pass.
The audience’s cheers were also very high, so it was not surprising that she was the captain.
Liu Sinan applauded with a smile.
When Feng Mingming stood up, she glanced at Liu Sinan, as if she was thinking about something. But when Liu Sinan looked back and smiled, she looked away and didn’t make eye contact with her.
Feng Mingming walked under “Ambush from Ten Sides” and was the captain of the third team.
The rest of the contestants drew lots. Sheng Ge was sitting across from Liu Sinan, but during the process of the contestants going on stage, she quietly moved over.
Sheng Ge said, “You should be on Feng Nini’s team. ‘Old Love and New Love’ sounds like modern dance.”
Liu Sinan smiled. “Didn’t the production team say it was a random draw?”
Sheng Ge looked at her as if she were an idiot. “How could it be truly random? Those young male celebrities are all men, so they’ll probably all go to Li Chaoran’s team. The rest are either classical dancers or modern dancers. You can tell from the songs the production team prepared.”
Liu Sinan nodded. “So you chose classical dance?”
“Not exactly,” Sheng Ge hesitated. “I’m not very good at dancing. My coordination is too poor. It’s just that I have a good sense of rhythm and can hit the beat accurately. The production team probably saw that I chose classical music and put me on Feng Mingming’s team.”
The contestants went up one by one to draw lots. It was exactly as Sheng Ge had said. Except for the contestants whose dance styles were not obvious, the rest were assigned to teams based on what they danced.
“Sheng Ge, Team 3,” Wang Wan’er smiled and revealed the lot in her hand. “Please go to Captain Feng.”
Feng Mingming gave her a ‘yeah’ sign, welcoming her arrival.
“Ms. Liu, please draw a lot.” It was Liu Sinan’s turn. She reached into the box and, as expected, there was only one card. She pretended to choose and touched it a few times before taking out the card and walking to Wang Wan’er.
Wang Wan’er took the lot from her, half-covered it, and scratched it open. Before revealing it, she glanced at Liu Sinan.
Just that one glance gave Liu Sinan a bad feeling. As expected, Wang Wan’er revealed the lot to the camera in the next moment.
“‘Ambush from Ten Sides’!” Wang Wan’er’s smile didn’t change. She whispered to Liu Sinan, “Ms. Liu, you’re going to Team 3.”
