Divorce Application - Chapter 37.1
Chapter 37.1: Heart Ailment
Lan Qi seemed to be busy. She instructed Liu Sinan not to panic, to stay calm, and not to accept any interviews. “Zhao Qiran’s actions this time were too extreme, which gives us a lot of leverage. We’re currently figuring out a strategy. You should go back to the hotel first. Don’t rush, and don’t make any statements. We’ll make a decision after we’ve discussed everything.”
Liu Sinan nodded. “I understand.”
Zhao Qiran had gone too far to suppress her. They were now at a disadvantage, and the only thing they could do was to wait and see.
On her way back to the waiting room, Liu Sinan ran into many production team members. She kept her head down, scrolling through her phone. The people around her looked at her with scrutiny and curiosity, as if they were watching a show. Only one person looked very ashamed.
A timid intern called out to Liu Sinan. “Ms. Liu, please wait.”
Liu Sinan was scrolling through the trending topics and had just seen how the production team had maliciously edited her beautiful dance, chopping it into pieces. She was annoyed, and her tone wasn’t very good. “What do you want?”
The intern looked at her sadly. When she glanced at the content on Liu Sinan’s phone, she felt a sense of shame. “Ms. Liu, your performance was really good. I also posted a direct-shot video online, but not many people saw it. But I believe that as long as we persevere, the truth will be revealed…”
Liu Sinan didn’t make things difficult for her. “What truth? You’re just an intern. What do you know?”
Liu Sinan looked behind her. Someone was already looking at them. She said impatiently, “Go back quickly. Don’t hover around me.”
The intern was stunned. She turned her head and looked in the direction Liu Sinan was looking. The people who met her gaze quickly looked away.
“I won’t cause you any trouble,” Liu Sinan’s expression was quite cold when she didn’t smile. “But with the way this production team operates, there’s no way I can have any relationship with you. Do you understand, little fan?”
She wasn’t blind. The intern had shown her kindness from the very beginning, then she started to remind and comfort her, which clearly showed that she was her little fan.
Liu Sinan walked past her without looking at her, scrolling through her phone.
But given how disgusting the production team was, even if she just filmed the show honestly, they could still smear her. If an intern got close to her and defended her, she would be noticed and probably ostracized.
When she returned to the waiting room, Qi Qi and Joey were surprisingly not shouting. Instead, they were focused on their phones.
There were seven or eight phones in front of them, and each screen showed a different anonymous account.
Qi Qi’s fingers were a blur as she typed out comments on various trending topics and marketing accounts.
Liu Sinan reached for one of the phones. The screen showed “Liu Sinan has no sense of aesthetics.”
The content was based on You Yiyang’s comments about her. For some reason, once a person started to criticize, people would somehow mistakenly think that the harshness of the criticism was sharp and witty. You Yiyang’s fans all jumped out to defend him, while Ms. Bai Mei’s questions to You Yiyang were completely edited out.
“We knew from the show’s preview that Liu Sinan is a weirdo who only knows how to dance weird dances.”
“How can a person dance so ugly?”
“She even forced our gentle Yang Yang, who never says harsh words, to not give her a card.”
Liu Sinan used Qi Qi’s anonymous account to reply, “If Liu Sinan’s dance was as bad as you say, why did Ms. Bai Mei give her a vote?”
The production team had released the content of the first episode. Ms. Bai Mei had only given two votes, one to Han Lanxi, and the other to her.
Ms. Bai Mei had commented on every contestant. Sometimes it was just one sentence, and sometimes it was just a few words. But when it came to her, Ms. Bai Mei didn’t say anything and just gave her a card.
Some observant audience members also noticed this detail. Soon, the comment had dozens of replies.
“But Ms. Bai Mei was too lazy to even comment.”
“Yeah, why didn’t Ms. Bai Mei comment?”
“Bai Mei probably has a private relationship with Liu Sinan.”
“What the person above said is not accurate. What is Liu Sinan? She’s probably her former sugar mommy.”
“Maybe Ms. Bai Mei’s aesthetics just happened to match?”
“What kind of person can appreciate this kind of dance? Maybe she’s getting old, and her taste is getting worse.”
“If you’re going to question Liu Sinan, don’t drag Ms. Bai into this. You’re not qualified to comment on Ms. Bai’s artistic achievements.”
“I heard someone talking about Ms. Bai Mei. I won’t say anything. I’ll just list the awards Ms. Bai Mei has won since she was a child. At 12, she won the National Youth Group Golden Vase Award (note that this was in the youth group, and 12-year-old Ms. Bai Mei was competing with a group of sixteen and seventeen-year-olds). At 16, she performed on the international stage. At 18, she won the ‘Black Hawk’ dance gold medal for China, the first time a Chinese person had won in thirty years. At 22, she went on a global tour. At 26, she was on the Spring Festival Gala stage…”
More and more people replied. The thread started to go off-topic from here. The people who were trolling Liu Sinan started to verbally abuse Bai Mei, but Ms. Bai Mei was highly respected. She not only had a large number of loyal fans, but she was also very popular with the public. The people who were scolding Ms. Bai Mei were quickly drowned in a flood of insults.
Ten minutes later, the phone screen showed, “Your comment has violated community guidelines and has been deleted.”
But the thread had already reached over a thousand replies, more than the comments on the original Weibo post. The people who hadn’t finished scolding started a new thread.
Liu Sinan went to another phone, which showed “Liu Sinan is acting like a diva.”
The video was exactly as Lan Qi had said. She and Feng Mingming were squeezed in the middle of the screen, only taking up a third of the entire frame. On one side was a wall, and on the other was probably a door frame.
The person filming was standing inside the door, setting up the camera in the door crack to film outside.
Liu Sinan recalled the scene. After she stopped at the corner of the corridor, Feng Mingming did intentionally or unintentionally lead her to the side. She had thought that Feng Mingming didn’t want to be filmed by the fixed camera in the corridor. It turned out that it was the opposite. Feng Mingming was worried that they wouldn’t be filmed.
Liu Sinan wanted to applaud him for this shaky, tricky camera angle. This person was not suitable to be a follow PD. He was more suitable to be a private investigator for affairs. He would definitely earn more than he did now.
Their conversation was edited. Liu Sinan’s words about her wrist being injured and not yet healed were completely cut out. She was facing away from the camera. “The moves you gave me, especially the one where I have to support myself on the ground, I can’t do.”
From this sentence alone, the audience could only see her direct and forceful way of speaking. Not being able to do it could also mean that she was not capable enough.
But the next sentence was the main point where the audience started to curse.
At that time, she should have shown the bandage on her wrist, but Feng Mingming moved to block her arm. In the video, Feng Mingming looked down, and her tone was very gentle. “I understand. Don’t worry. I’ll adjust the move assignments and try to take care of you more.”
The normal adjustment of dance moves, due to the deletion of Liu Sinan’s wrist injury, became Liu Sinan being spoiled, willful, and unreasonable, and she had to be taken care of by others.
Liu Sinan’s debut had been out of nowhere, and she had her own funding. In the audience’s eyes, she was just rich, powerful, and shameless.
“Why should she be taken care of? If she can’t do it, then don’t do it. If she can’t dance, then don’t dance. Get out of ‘Crossover Dance Queen.'”
“I’ve seen how thick a person’s skin can be.”
“Feng Mingming is too easy to talk to. If it were me, I’d slap her in the face. What’s with the princess complex?”
“No wonder Li Jinping didn’t want her.”
Liu Sinan’s finger paused on this comment. A few seconds later, she long-pressed and reported it.
The video continued. Liu Sinan remembered that she had said later that she didn’t need to be taken care of and that she was fine with all the other moves except for the wrist ones.
But this sentence was cut out, and all that was left was Feng Mingming smiling and saying, “I’ll help you solve it.”
No wonder she had found Feng Mingming’s reaction so strange at the time.
The next part of the video was Doudou throwing a card at her. Liu Sinan’s words about “solving the problem if there’s a problem” were deleted again. What was left was Feng Mingming taking the blame herself. “Don’t argue. This is my decision as the captain. If you have any complaints, you can discuss them with me. It has nothing to do with Ms. Liu.”
After the entire video was played, the comments below were all scolding Liu Sinan.
“First trending topic, bad dancing. This trending topic, bad character. Liu Sinan, why haven’t you faded into obscurity yet? Get out of the entertainment industry!”
“Blaming others for your own mistakes. I’m so disgusted. How can there be such a disgusting person?”
“Li Jinping just divorced you. It’s a good thing you didn’t have to leave with nothing.”
“Liu Sinan, get out of ‘Crossover Dance Queen.'”
“Liu Sinan is not worthy.”
After Qi Qi and Joey had fought for a long time with cold faces, they threw their phones down. “What the hell? Why did they block our accounts?!”
Liu Sinan said, “It’s not just you guys. My report didn’t go through either.”
“Platforms need traffic,” Liu Sinan said. “It’s understandable.”
“Why do we have to be the ones to be understanding? The first time the production team maliciously edited your dance, we didn’t walk off or sue them. We understood that they wanted to get some attention,” Qi Qi said, collapsing onto the chair, feeling weak but with red eyes. “And now they’re doing this again.”
“Don’t worry,” Liu Sinan realized that she was strangely not that angry in this situation. “Lan Qi said that it’s fine for the production team to create some buzz, but this kind of thing, where they’re trying to turn black into white, will definitely not succeed.”
Qi Qi and Joey both felt that Liu Sinan was being too calm. They cried for her out of frustration. “Boss, stop comforting us. The person who should be the most upset about what’s being said online is you.”
Upset… not really.
Angry… a little.
Disgusted… yes, definitely very disgusted.
But the most important thing was that she was a little disappointed.
In Feng Mingming and in the entire production team.
To this day, she still didn’t know why Feng Mingming would do this.
“Madam, you’ve been on your phone for an hour,” Lin Xia said in a gentle voice, standing beside Li Jinping with her hands clasped in front of her stomach. “It’s time to rest.”
Li Jinping seemed to not have heard her and didn’t say a word.
“Madam, you really can’t keep looking…”
“Why are you here?” A rather forceful voice interrupted Lin Xia.
Yang Ya was holding a medical tray with some towels and something that looked like a weight, as well as a small stick.
“Your hand needs to rest,” Yang Ya said to Lin Xia. “I’ll take care of CEO Li here. You go back to your room now.”
Lin Xia’s bandaged hand moved. She looked at Li Jinping timidly. “Madam…”
Li Jinping’s gaze briefly lifted from the phone screen. “Go.”
Lin Xia was on the verge of tears. “Madam, this is the first time you’ve spoken to me in days.”
“I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have stopped Ms. Liu,” Lin Xia’s red eyes looked pitiful. “Can Madam please forgive me just this once?”
“You don’t need to apologize to me,” Li Jinping picked up her phone again. “You’re the one who got hurt.”
Yang Ya put the tray down and stood between Lin Xia and Li Jinping, glaring at her. “If you don’t listen, go back to the hospital. We talked about resting at home. You patients are all so disobedient.”
Lin Xia lowered her head, sobbed softly, and slowly turned around and walked out.
“CEO Li, the phone.” After scolding Lin Xia, Yang Ya turned to Li Jinping and said briefly.
Li Jinping’s movements paused, but she didn’t move.
Yang Ya tried to pull the phone away from Li Jinping. Li Jinping dodged. “Let me look a little longer.”
Yang Ya saw the content on her screen and pursed her lips. “It’s already been half a day. I’ll tell you what’s being said, CEO Li. I’ve basically read all the gossip.”
Li Jinping was stunned, and her phone was quickly pulled away.
Yang Ya took a small, soft square towel from the tray, sprinkled some fine medicinal powder on it, and walked to Li Jinping. “CEO Li, close your eyes.”
Li Jinping closed her eyes and asked softly, “What are they saying online?”
“They’re saying that Liu Sinan is not worthy of her position, that she’s a bully, that she’s cunning and vicious, and that she should get out of the entertainment industry.”
“The videos that have been clearly edited are fermenting online, and someone is paying a large number of trolls to smear Liu Sinan.”
Li Jinping was silent. Yang Ya pressed the towel down slowly, her voice unhurried. “Besides Weibo, there are a lot of press releases on all the major platforms. Liu Sinan is facing the lowest point in her popularity ever. She’s like a rat on the street, and everyone is out to get her.”
Li Jinping’s hand on the armrest slowly clenched, and her breathing became difficult.
