Divorce Is An Absolute Must! - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Hot Search
â—ŽYou’re the greasy man, your whole family’s greasy men!â—Ž
When Zhu Qing woke up the next day, she had a splitting headache, as if she had been beaten up.
She tried to recall what happened last night. She only remembered there were a bunch of wine bottles in the private room and she was chatting nonsense with Qian Cancan, but she couldn’t remember any more specific details.
How did she get home? Did Qian Cancan bring her back?
Zhu Qing took out her phone and called Qian Cancan. Before the call connected, there was a knock on her bedroom door.
“Are you awake?”
It was Li Lan’s voice.
Zhu Qing steadied herself and quickly scanned her whole body. She was still wearing the long dress she wore out yesterday, which had turned into a wrinkled mess after sleeping in it all night. Her makeup hadn’t been removed yet…
Oh my god, what a disaster.
Zhu Qing hurriedly got out of bed. “I’m awake. Just a minute, I’ll be right out.”
She ran to the bathroom and stared at the hungover woman in the mirror.
Her face was fine. Maybe Qian Cancan had a moment of kindness and helped her remove her makeup. Her face was clean, with only her eyes and lips looking a little red.
Hmm? Why are they a bit swollen?
Zhu Qing leaned closer to the mirror. Her eyelids were thin and would easily turn red when she drank too much, and it would take a couple of days for the redness to fade. But why were her eyelids swollen? They only swelled when she had an allergic reaction or after she had cried.
Did I drink fake wine last night?
Zhu Qing’s fingers moved down and accidentally touched her lips. “Hiss.”
Why were her lips swollen too?!
Not only that, there were even small cuts on the edges of her lips, as if they had been ravaged. It was a miserable sight.
Such obvious allergic symptoms. Fake wine, it must have been fake wine!
Qian Cancan replied with a “?”.
Zhu Qing pressed the voice message button and said angrily, “What kind of wine did you order? You owe me for my perfect morning face!”
Qian Cancan replied with sixteen question marks.
Zhu Qing quickly finished washing up, changed her clothes, and tied her long hair into a ponytail, revealing her smooth forehead with not a single stray hair.
Neatly tidied up, Zhu Qing took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
Li Lan was leaning against the kitchen island. There was a plate of exquisite pastries and a bowl of pumpkin porridge beside her. When she saw Zhu Qing, she said, “Poria cocos cakes and pumpkin porridge. Come and eat some when you’re awake, it’s good for your stomach.”
Zhu Qing glanced at Li Lan, who was wearing a white linen shirt paired with light blue high-waisted denim shorts. She had a gold chain bracelet and a leather watch stacked on her wrist, exuding an effortless, high-end casual vibe.
After secretly admiring Li Lan, Zhu Qing felt a bit uncomfortable in her head. She shook it and asked, confused, “I rarely get this drunk. How much did Qian Cancan pour me? Oh, right, did I bother you when I came back last night? I thought Qian Cancan would take me to her place or get a hotel room. I’m so sorry if I disturbed you.”
Going out drinking late at night and coming back a drunken mess was embarrassing, even for someone with a thick skin like Zhu Qing.
Li Lan’s brows raised slightly, and she let out an ambiguous “Mm,” which counted as an answer.
Zhu Qing picked up a poria cocos cake. The soft, sticky pastry brushed against the corner of her mouth. She carefully avoided the cuts and took small bites.
Li Lan’s gaze paused for a moment, then she turned her head and said in a low voice, “I’m going on a business trip today to attend an exhibition in Guangzhou. I also have a set of cover photos to shoot. I’ll be back at the earliest the day after tomorrow.”
Zhu Qing nodded with the pastry still in her mouth, her eyes crinkling into a smile. “Okay. I also want to take some time to go to the kindergarten.”
Li Lan asked, “Aren’t you on sick leave?”
“Yes, there’s half a month left of my sick leave,” Zhu Qing said. “I just want to go and see my workplace, since I don’t have anything to do during my leave.”
Zhu Qing then picked up the pumpkin porridge and took a few sips. Her tongue lightly darted out to lick a small grain of rice from the corner of her mouth.
Li Lan narrowed her eyes and observed Zhu Qing. She propped her hands on the countertop and gently tapped her middle finger. She suddenly spoke, “Are you bored at home?”
Zhu Qing thought about it. She didn’t nod or shake her head. She was a restless person. If Li Lan were at home, it would be fine, but if Li Lan wasn’t home, she would definitely go crazy cooped up in the house alone.
But telling the truth might cause a misunderstanding. Zhu Qing laughed it off. “A little, but it’s okay. I’m just a restless person, and you won’t let me go on the variety show with you, hahaha.”
The last part was said teasingly. Zhu Qing didn’t want to upset Li Lan again over the variety show. She said this to put Li Lan at ease. Unexpectedly, in the next moment, Li Lan relented.
“The variety show. If you want to go, then go.”
Li Lan stood up straight, took a cake from Zhu Qing’s plate, and examined it. “Pretend I never said those things.”
Zhu Qing was very surprised. She confirmed that Li Lan wasn’t joking and then asked a series of questions. “Really? Why did you change your mind? When does filming start? What do I need to prepare?”
“Filming starts next week,” Li Lan took a bite of the poria cocos cake and found it wasn’t that delicious. “It will last for ten days, which is just enough to finish your sick leave. Qian Chu will prepare what you need. I’ll tell you about the other matters before filming begins.”
Zhu Qing nodded happily. “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
Li Lan didn’t say anything else.
The reason she changed her mind was obvious.
Last night, she kissed Zhu Qing until she was so dazed she couldn’t even recognize her, and she was still thinking about the six million yuan in liquidated damages.
Li Lan was so angry she almost laughed. She had never been stingy with her own people when it came to money. How did this person turn into such a little miser after losing her memory?
But the more important reason was that Zhu Qing had touched Li Lan’s most sensitive nerve.
Li Lan couldn’t even stand the thought of Zhu Qing being with other women.
This person, having lost her memory, was like a kite with a broken string. Zhu Qing was not as restrained and cautious as before; she had become lively and outgoing. This was a good thing, but being lively and flirty in front of other women was unacceptable.
Before her amnesia, Zhu Qing was secretive and unwilling to go public with her. Li Lan had originally wanted to respect “Zhu Qing’s” wishes.
Who would have thought that this person could cause trouble if she wasn’t tied to her side for even a day?
In that case, it would be better to go public now. Even if Zhu Qing regretted it after regaining her memory, Li Lan would just have to bear the consequences herself.
After Zhu Qing finished all the cakes and porridge, Li Lan walked to the side and pulled out a suitcase. “I’m leaving.”
Zhu Qing was stunned. So Li Lan had already packed and was just waiting for me to come out and finish eating before she left?
Zhu Qing’s heart felt a little warm.
“I’ll see you off.” Zhu Qing grabbed the suitcase and insisted on walking Li Lan downstairs.
Before leaving, Li Lan suddenly rolled down the car window and said hesitantly, “One more thing. Xiao Bao might come looking for you.”
Xiao Bao?
Zhu Qing was full of questions. After two seconds, she suddenly understood. “Oh, Xiao Bao! I remember now, your daughter.”
The little girl who was holding her and Li Lan’s hands in the wedding photos.
“She was originally on a study tour in Northern Europe this month, but she heard about your injury a few days ago and insisted on coming back,” Li Lan said, looking a little troubled. “The teacher couldn’t talk her out of it, so someone is already bringing her back on a plane.”
Zhu Qing was flattered. “Ah, she’s coming for me?”
Li Lan’s face showed a look of exhaustion. “She has an aunt to take care of her, so you don’t need to worry about anything else. But if she comes to you, I’ll still have to trouble you to spend some time with her… Xiao Bao is, well, she’s more dependent on you.”
Zhu Qing nodded. “Okay.”
After Li Lan’s car drove away, Zhu Qing was still replaying Li Lan’s words in her mind.
She didn’t quite understand why Xiao Bao, as Li Lan’s daughter, would be so dependent on her that she would skip her study tour with other kids just because she heard Zhu Qing was injured and insisted on coming back to find her.
However, she soon no longer had the mind to focus on Xiao Bao.
Li Lan’s Weibo post from yesterday was on the hot search: [Li Lan’s High-Fashion Photoshoot Angers Fans].
In the comments section, fans were furiously cursing the photographer.
“What’s the point of having good composition and lighting? The photographer doesn’t understand what suits my Jie at all! I strongly demand a replacement!”
“Hehe, does the photographer think a photo isn’t good unless it’s sexy? My Jie’s classical beauty was completely ruined by you! #RejectObjectification#”
“What kind of ghost-like aesthetics does this photographer have?? #TrashPhotographerQuitTheIndustry#”
“Fans aren’t brainless followers. This style of photos really doesn’t live up to my Jie’s status, okay?”
“A good photo ≠the right photo! Can the photographer please put away that greasy style? My Jie doesn’t do the sexy style!”
Zhu Qing looked at the screen full of “photographer quit the industry,” “beat up the photographer,” and the even more unbearable “the photographer is a greasy man.” She saw red, and the bl00d in her body rushed to her head!
