Divorce Is An Absolute Must! - Chapter 13
Chapter 13: A Comfort
â—ŽDon’t let it happen again.â—Ž
The chaotic fan forum fell into a half-minute silence, followed by a wave of awkward comments.
“Ah, so Lanlan took the pictures herself, haha.”
“Ahhhh, my sister, I was wrong! I’m going to get the knives back that I sent to the photographer!”
“Sister Lan took the photos herself? Then it’s fine! Everyone, please disperse.”
“It turns out I was blind! The person in Sister Lan’s lens is more alluring than what the photographer took [thumbs up].”
The abusive comments almost completely disappeared. Even a few who persisted changed their comments from attacks to well-intentioned “admonitions.”
“Lan Bao, as a long-time fan, I selfishly miss your fresh and lively vibe from your early days. It really brought out your unique youthful charm~ Of course, we will support you no matter what style you choose, but I can’t help but want to quietly express my little personal wish.”
Li Lan leaned over, saw the content on the screen, and asked curiously, “Is this also part of the fan culture in the country?”
Qian Chu’s mouth twitched, and she was very reluctant to answer the question.
Fans can be very blindly obedient at times. Their first principle is to protect their idol. Zhu Qing’s move was to turn their spear into their own shield, which was quite clever.
Although it made others look a little foolish.
Zhu Qing’s phone call came again, and she sounded very happy. “Li Lan, did you see those comments?”
Li Lan heard her laugh, a slight curve on her lips. Her tone was calm. “Yes. Are you still angry?”
“Not at all,” Zhu Qing said, her fingers flying on the screen. “Wait a second, I still have one more comment to reply to.”
Qian Chu’s heart leaped to her throat again. Just as she saw the fawning comments, another reply from “Li Lan” popped up.
“Li Lan” replied to a comment from “Lanting Evening Breeze: Ahhh, sister is here! How did you get that orange-red shading and blur effect? It’s so beautiful!!”
Li Lan: “The photographer took that one.”
The fans collectively fell silent again.
Qian Chu: …
Which photos were taken by Li Lan, and which were taken by the photographer?!
Qian Chu said in a chilling tone, “She’s messing with your fans. Aren’t you going to do something about it?”
Zhu Qing was not happy when she heard that. “I’m not messing with them. That’s the truth. Besides the one that was very close to the camera, which Li Lan took, I took the rest of them. The fans mindlessly followed the trend and used their robber’s logic to hold me to a double standard. It has nothing to do with me.”
Qian Chu was too angry to speak. She lowered her head and busied herself with contacting the studio to get them to communicate with the fan leaders and then get people to manage the comments.
Li Lan quietly sat back in the back seat. She would be at the airport soon and would have to board her flight.
“Li Lan, you’re not angry, are you?” After messing with the fans, Zhu Qing felt much better. It was only afterward that she realized her actions might not be beneficial to the harmony between Li Lan and her fans.
Li Lan’s eyes softened, but her voice was as bland as leftover tea, coolly saying, “It’s fine.”
Zhu Qing couldn’t figure out Li Lan’s attitude and said in a small voice, “Will the fans have a problem with you?”
This person was just like before: impulsive. Before she argued with and messed with people, how could she not have thought that the fans would have a problem? Li Lan pressed her fingers against her temples. Her tone was a little helpless, and with a touch of doting that she herself didn’t notice, she said, “True fans won’t.”
“Even if they have a problem, they can’t blame me,” Zhu Qing muttered, complaining. “If others curse me, I have to curse them back.”
Li Lan smiled and shook her head, thinking it was a childish temper.
“How are you going to be on the variety show with me like this?” Li Lan said. “When the time comes, there will be all sorts of things said online. If someone praises you, someone will curse you.”
She was silent for two seconds, remembering Zhu Qing’s previous attitude, and said in a low voice, “Actually, if you’re very against this, we can cancel the variety show. You don’t have to appear in public with me.”
Zhu Qing quickly stopped her. “No way. These are just brainless fans. They curse fiercely, but they kneel quickly. They turn on a dime. I’m not afraid of them. I’ll just curse them back. Am I supposed to pay six million because of their comments? No way. That would be a huge loss for me.”
When she got to this part, Zhu Qing’s voice got softer, and she said a little awkwardly, “And didn’t you also give me your account so I could, cough, clap back?”
A trace of emotion appeared on Li Lan’s face, followed by a little melancholy.
She hadn’t expected the amnesiac Zhu Qing to say something like that.
In the past, she did her best to protect Zhu Qing. Since Zhu Qing didn’t like her work environment, the two of them rarely talked or communicated about her fans and work.
She hadn’t expected that after her amnesia, Zhu Qing would be willing to take photos for her and even get into a fight with her fans.
What made her feel the most joyful was that after Zhu Qing clapped back, she wasn’t angry anymore and wouldn’t continue to be trapped in emotions of disgust and rejection.
Although Li Lan also disliked some of the fan culture in the entertainment industry, she was still in the industry. If Zhu Qing could accept her work, she would feel relieved and at ease. It meant that Zhu Qing was accepting the real her.
A storm that she thought would destroy their relationship was extinguished into nothing by Zhu Qing’s lively, tooth-for-a-tooth actions.
“I have to board my flight now,” Li Lan said softly. “Leave a message on WeChat if you need anything.”
Zhu Qing obediently said, “Okay.”
After she hung up, Qian Cancan, who had come running as soon as she caught wind of what was happening, said in a low voice, “Is that it? Is everything fine?”
She had already been out. After Qian Chu messaged her on WeChat, she went straight to Zhu Qing’s place. Qian Cancan had originally wanted to stop Zhu Qing from using Li Lan’s account to reply, but when she saw the ugly attacks, she immediately got angry too.
Anyone who has experienced cyberbullying knows that it’s something you can’t tolerate even a little.
Zhu Qing’s bl00d-rushing anger subsided, and she and Qian Cancan looked at each other. She said hesitantly, “It should be fine, right? Anyway, Li Lan didn’t say anything.”
“Well, that’s true. Sister Li Lan has always been well-mannered,” Qian Cancan nodded. “It seems like you two have been getting along well these past few days. She’s not even angry about this.”
Zhu Qing scratched her head. She couldn’t be sure if Li Lan was angry or not.
Li Lan’s facial expression management had always been good, unlike herself, who wore all her emotions on her sleeve.
“Getting along well?” Zhu Qing said, her voice full of doubt. “She seems to be lukewarm towards me. Hiss, that’s not accurate either. It should be respectful and courteous.”
She had no memories of being in love with Li Lan, but she had seen it happen, so Zhu Qing naturally knew what the atmosphere between a real couple should be like.
This atmosphere wouldn’t become respectful and courteous just because she had amnesia.
Li Lan’s gaze should be one of nostalgia and sadness. She should be averting her eyes when Zhu Qing looked at her, hiding the love that unconsciously showed in her eyes. Instead, her gaze was always calm, still like a freshwater lake without a ripple.
Qian Cancan said incredulously, “You two are respectful and courteous?”
“Yeah. When she’s with me, the distance is quite far. There are no boundary-crossing actions or ambiguous words. The atmosphere between us is just very bland,” Zhu Qing said, carefully recalling the details of their time together. Li Lan truly hadn’t shown any interest in her. “I always feel like she’s still bothered by things from the past and is deliberately keeping her distance from me.”
Qian Cancan agreed. “That makes sense. After all, you have amnesia and forgot, but Li Lan didn’t. Not to mention, you went wild in front of her when you were drunk…”
“What!?” Zhu Qing was like a stray tabby cat whose tail had been stepped on. She jumped three feet into the air.
Qian Cancan asked suspiciously, “Did you forget? You insisted on pulling me to have a drink to drown your sorrows, saying Li Lan wouldn’t let you be on the variety show. You got drunk halfway through, and Li Lan called to pick you up. But then again, if you get attacked by fans just for taking a photo, not letting you be on the variety show was a very wise choice.”
Zhu Qing’s whole body went stiff. Her ears and collarbone instantly became flushed. She opened her mouth and almost choked on her own words. “Then, me… why did you say I went wild when I was drunk? What did I do?”
Although she liked to drink, she rarely drank herself to a blackout. Plus, her impression was that she had a good alcohol tolerance. Who knew that she would get drunk after less than a bottle?
And who knew that Li Lan was the one who picked her up when she was drunk!
Didn’t that mean that her uninhibited side was completely exposed?!
How could she be a “virtuous wife and kind mother” in front of Li Lan now?!
Although she didn’t agree with being tamed into being a good wife, if Li Lan liked her docile side, it wouldn’t be impossible for her to act cute and spoiled in front of Li Lan.
But all those plans were ruined by that one night of drinking!
Qian Cancan made an expression that said “even a dog would shake its head” and clicked her tongue. “You were talkative and disobedient. Who knows what you got up to… Didn’t Li Lan tell you the next day?”
Zhu Qing picked up the empty cup in front of her and tried to calm herself down by drinking water, but failed.
“She didn’t say anything. She just told me to eat porridge and have some food, and then she agreed to let me be on the variety show,” Zhu Qing said, carefully recalling Li Lan’s reaction that morning. She tried to find any clues in the details, failed again, and said in frustration, “It’s over. Now Li Lan must have an even worse impression of me.”
Zhu Qing lay down, her face full of despair. “I feel like Li Lan is going to throw the revised divorce agreement in my face very soon.”
Li Lan didn’t have much affection for her to begin with, and she had gone and caused trouble. Her impression points were all used up.
Thinking of this, Zhu Qing was extremely sad and sent a message to Li Lan, kneeling in apology.
Zhu Qing: “I’m very sorry about what happened last night. I won’t get drunk next time.”
Two hours later, after the plane landed, Li Lan finally saw the message.
Last night?
Zhu Qing wasn’t suitable to get drunk outside, but at home…
Li Lan savored the moment and then offered comfort.
She: “Don’t let it happen again.”
