Divorcee O Finds Me Irresistible - Chapter 21
“Do you have any ideas?”
Fu Shuang was tossing her yogurt carton into the trash when Xu Qing suddenly asked her.
They weren’t far apart. Xu Qing stood under a streetlight, her face shadowed, her expression indistinct. To Fu Shuang, she seemed to be smiling.
Ideas?
Wanting to kiss you—does that count?
Fu Shuang felt like a kindergartener who had suddenly grasped a first-grade math problem, filled with a restless desire to explore this unknown territory.
If I could win her over, it would be so cool.
She’s stunningly beautiful, isn’t she?
Fu Shuang considered herself the most beautiful woman she had ever met—even if there were others, she would never admit it. Xu Qing rarely wore makeup; her skin was porcelain white, her nose perfectly sculpted, and her eyes and brows were the most striking features of her face. Her hair, brows, and irises were all a glossy black, a shade that seemed to glow under both sunlight and streetlights. A slight smile would transform her entire demeanor, making her appear exceptionally gentle.
And her physique was remarkable. Standing tall at around 1.7 meters, she looked slender, yet her abs were clearly defined. Occasionally, when she raised her arms, her beautifully toned shoulder and tricep muscles would flex, radiating strength and explosive power.
Fu Shuang should have realized it sooner! The moment she saw her Alpha Sister fighting for her in the bar on their first day, she should have known this woman was exactly her type!
Damn it, why am I only realizing this now?
Fu Shuang felt a pang of annoyance, but she quickly brushed aside the negative emotion, instead feeling smug about having discovered this secret.
She had always been adept at managing her emotions. If she encountered setbacks, it was invariably someone else’s fault, the environment’s fault, or society’s fault—never her own.
If she doesn’t like me, it just proves there’s something wrong with her. Either she’s blind or brain-dead.
Her thoughts raced to organize themselves in an instant. Fu Shuang narrowed her eyes, looking at Xu Qing. “Older Sister, when you ask what I’m thinking, do you mean what I think about you? Or what I think about what happened today?”
Take the initiative, observe her reaction. If she hesitates even for a moment, it means she’s guilty!
As Fu Shuang watched her, she subtly shifted her position to get a better angle on Xu Qing’s facial expressions.
Xu Qing’s skin was fair, but her regular workouts gave her a healthy, rosy complexion. Even with a faint blush on her cheeks, Fu Shuang couldn’t draw any conclusions. The key was in her eyes.
Their eyes locked, as if they were playing a game of “One, Two, Three, Don’t Laugh.” But Fu Shuang was clearly several levels above Xu Qing, staring at her like a curious cat—who’s ever seen a cat laugh?
Sure enough, Xu Qing cracked first, bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
“What are you laughing at?” Fu Shuang demanded, visibly annoyed.
“I surrender,” Xu Qing said, raising her hands and bowing her head to suppress her laughter. “Can you please stop staring at me?”
Is it that obvious? Fu Shuang muttered inwardly, then said softly, “You asked me first.”
“Answering a question with another question is a politician’s trick,” Xu Qing replied, pulling an unopened pack of cigarettes from her pocket. “May I have one?”
“This is a public street. Do as you please,” Fu Shuang said, her gaze lingering on Xu Qing’s hand holding the cigarette. After a moment, she added, “Give me one too.”
Xu Qing glanced at her in surprise. “You know how?”
“Everyone knows how to smoke. Did you think I’ve never tried it before?” Fu Shuang scoffed. “Sorry, Older Sister, I might not be the obedient girl you imagined.”
“I know,” Xu Qing said gently, handing her a cigarette. “You’re very naughty.”
Fu Shuang grinned, a fierce yet adorable smile, and leaned closer to Xu Qing.
With a click, the lighter flared, illuminating Fu Shuang’s excessively cute face. Xu Qing lowered her head, lighting the cigarette for her as if serving a queen.
Fu Shuang coughed, predictably choking on the smoke. Tiny tears shimmered in her light-colored eyes.
Xu Qing smiled silently.
Fu Shuang held the cigarette in her hand, not taking another puff. She glanced at Xu Qing and asked, “Have you had dinner yet?”
Xu Qing exhaled softly. “I bought some groceries. I’m waiting for you to come home and cook.”
The phrase “waiting for you to come home and cook” was ambiguous. Did it mean waiting for Fu Shuang to return so Xu Qing could cook for her, or waiting for Fu Shuang to come home and cook herself?
Regardless of the interpretation, it confirmed one thing: Xu Qing acknowledged that she and Fu Shuang were now meal partners.
At least on this point, their thoughts aligned.
“What did you buy?” Fu Shuang asked, sounding unusually relaxed.
“Vegetables and carrots,” Xu Qing replied. “All your favorites.”
The comment sounded odd, and Fu Shuang frowned. “I’m not a rabbit! I like so many things—why only those two?”
Xu Qing chuckled. “Those are just the easiest to remember. Besides, the kitchen hasn’t been used in ages, and I didn’t want to experiment. I didn’t know when you’d be home from work. What if you stayed out all night again without a word?”
“Alright, I’m really sorry about last night,” Fu Shuang said, taking a drag from her cigarette. As she exhaled deeply, her tension gradually eased. “I got off work late yesterday and ran into an Omega friend who was in her heat cycle. She called and asked me to stay with her. I hadn’t planned on spending the night, but when I got there, I realized her condition was much worse than I’d imagined. Just look at how many people are in trouble today—you can imagine how bad it was.”
“I see,” Xu Qing said, lowering her head and offering a faint smile. “But I don’t understand. You’re an Omega too. What could you possibly do to help her?”
“Emotional support,” Fu Shuang said, pursing her lips. “Having a friend nearby makes the pain much more bearable.”
“What about you?” Xu Qing asked casually, trying to make her question sound less deliberate. “If you were in that situation, what would you do? Would you still go to work?”
“Definitely go to work. Hopefully, I’d get lucky and it would happen on a weekend. Oh, but I have a part-time job on weekends too,” Fu Shuang said, sticking her tongue out at Xu Qing. “I’d probably just pay someone for a temporary mark. That’s what my bestie does.”
The cigarette burned down to Xu Qing’s hand, snapping her out of her thoughts. “There’s a market for that?” she asked, her face registering surprise.
“Where there’s demand, there’s a market,” Fu Shuang said with a malicious grin, her eyes fixed on Xu Qing. “Someone as beautiful as you, Older Sister, must fetch quite a price for a night.”
Xu Qing stubbed out the burning cigarette, her breathing slightly ragged. She glanced at the ground before meeting Fu Shuang’s gaze. “How much?”
As if possessed, Fu Shuang held up four fingers.
Xu Qing’s eyes widened with genuine curiosity. “…Four figures?”
Seeing her starry-eyed expression, Fu Shuang regretted starting this conversation. It had been meant as a tease, but Xu Qing had taken it seriously.
Many things in this world can’t be measured in money.
“Four W,” Fu Shuang blurted out, hastily avoiding Xu Qing’s gaze. “Maybe it’s just a hypothetical price.”
“Ha, a clumsy lie,” Xu Qing said, her lips curving into a smile as delicate as a flower floating on rippling water—a beauty almost unreal. “But I’ll take it as a compliment. Next time you need my help, I’ll give you a generous discount based on that figure.”
Fu Shuang’s eyes widened slightly. Damn, I quoted too high.
