Dreaming of Divorcing Her (GL) - Chapter 2
Hanging up the phone, hearing Wen Qing crying sadly on the other end, Jiang Yunjuan’s mood became inexplicably heavy.
She and Wen Qing had been married for three years, but when it came to their relationship, even “respectful as guests” didn’t quite fit, as she rarely saw Wen Qing on weekdays.
Wen Qing had told her that she had signed up for various interest classes: yoga, Pilates, oil painting, piano, violin. Her assistant had even mentioned that Wen Qing wanted to learn the suona and erhu.
Seven days a week, it seemed Wen Qing was in class every day.
She really couldn’t figure out Wen Qing’s attitude towards her. That person always seemed to be deliberately avoiding her.
But marriage was something both parties had to maintain together. A marriage that couldn’t be salvaged might as well end sooner rather than later, even though that person had just cried her heart out on the phone.
But Jiang Yunjuan didn’t regret the decision to divorce.
“Dong—dong dong—”
A knock came at the door.
Jiang Yunjuan’s fair fingers pressed against her brow bone, and she said softly, “Come in.”
The Jiang Corporation was located in the city center of Yujiang City. Yujiang City was known for its frequent rain. Although it wasn’t the rainy season yet, the thick clouds overhead were still clearly visible. The magnificent Jiang Corporation building soared into the clouds, causing everyone to stop and admire this spectacle.
Mu Bai, the special assistant to the president, pushed the door open and entered. He stopped and respectfully nodded, “President Jiang—”
Inside the spacious and bright office, the layout was simple and elegant. The bookshelf on the left held many economics-related books, while on the antique shelf on the other side, exquisite porcelain was arranged in an orderly manner. The landscape painting on the wall was clearly the work of a famous artist, with numerous collector’s seals on it, indicating its considerable value.
What surprised Mu Bai was that Jiang Yunjuan seemed different today than usual. Her consistently cold, reserved demeanor, where her emotions were never shown, seemed to carry a hint of inexplicable weariness.
Jiang Yunjuan slightly raised her eyes and asked softly, “Something wrong?”
“It’s like this, President Jiang…” Mu Bai didn’t dare to continue observing her and quickly said, “The reply for the Yushan Resort development project is in.”
Across the desk, Mu Bai flipped the document in his hand and placed it on Jiang Yunjuan’s rosewood desk.
Jiang Yunjuan opened the document, her attention refocusing on it.
After carefully reading it once, she raised her eyes and instructed softly, “Basically no problems. Tell all departments to work overtime tonight and prepare the detailed plan in advance. The specific details will be discussed at the morning meeting tomorrow.”
Jiang Yunjuan’s voice wasn’t loud, but Mu Bai felt a great sense of pressure from her concise and direct tone, and he quickly said, “Yes, President Jiang, I’ll inform them immediately.”
Having given the instructions, Jiang Yunjuan saw that Mu Bai wasn’t leaving and asked, “Anything else?”
After a brief silence, Mu Bai hesitated and said, “President Jiang, the person in charge of Yushan called and said that to show sincerity, they suggest you personally go to Yushan for an inspection, otherwise the project might not be approved.”
Jiang Yunjuan frowned, “Go for an inspection personally?”
Cold sweat broke out on Mu Bai’s back. “Yes, I also subtly mentioned to them that you don’t have time, but their attitude is firm…”
Even Mu Bai himself understood that although the Jiang Corporation, as the leading real estate enterprise in Yujiang City and even the whole country, had indeed accumulated a large amount of wealth through real estate in the previous generation, its current business scope had already expanded to energy technology, entertainment, and finance.
In other words, even if the development of Yushan Resort could bring huge benefits to the Jiang Corporation, Jiang Yunjuan, as the current head of the Jiang family, considered every minute and second as money. It was really unnecessary for her to personally go for such a small project.
Mu Bai secretly regretted mentioning this to Jiang Yunjuan. Seeing President Jiang’s tightly furrowed brows, wasn’t he just making things difficult for her!
Who knew that Jiang Yunjuan pondered for a long while and then actually said, “Three days later then.”
Mu Bai was stunned, “What?”
Jiang Yunjuan, as if thinking of something, had a somewhat obscure expression on her face. “It’s just right to give her time to digest it.”
Mu Bai realized what she meant and quickly said, “Okay, I’ll go arrange it.”
But who was the “her” that President Jiang was talking about?
That night, all employees of the Jiang Corporation worked overtime, with Jiang Yunjuan setting an example.
It was almost 12 o’clock at night when they left the Jiang Corporation building. The car came out of the underground parking lot, and the traffic on the road was sparse, with few pedestrians. The journey was smooth and unobstructed.
The driver was driving in the front, and Jiang Yunjuan leaned back in the rear seat, closing her eyes to rest.
After a while, a sports car roared past, the deafening sound breaking the brief tranquility of the late night.
The sports car came from behind and overtook them. Jiang Yunjuan was awakened by the buzzing sound and opened her eyes.
While waiting for the red light, she casually glanced to the side. It was a fashionable new convertible, with a colorful leopard print covering the entire body, a trendy item for young people nowadays.
Jiang Yunjuan felt displeased and withdrew her gaze. The red light in front of the windshield had turned green.
Something seemed a little off?
Thinking of something, Jiang Yunjuan turned sideways again and looked in the direction of the leopard-print convertible.
This time, she wasn’t looking at the car, but the person.
However, after the light changed, the owner of the convertible had already stepped on the accelerator and sped away with a roar.
The light inside the car was dim, and Jiang Yunjuan’s expression became somewhat obscure. Her knuckles tapped rhythmically on her knee, and her brows gradually tightened.
The rock girl driver who was wearing a leopard-print mini-skirt that matched the sports car, had a hot and sexy figure, and a head full of explosive hair, seemed a bit familiar?
Although the girl’s face was covered in heavy, glamorous makeup, the two cars were not far apart, and the girl’s delicate features could still be vaguely recognized—
She looked a bit like Wen Qing.
But Jiang Yunjuan knew Wen Qing’s dressing style. Wen Qing was always conservative and would never go overboard. Even her underwear was in conservative styles and colors.
Last time, she had asked Wen Qing to accompany her to an auction gala and had someone prepare a deep-V, semi-strapless evening gown of the same style for Wen Qing. After Wen Qing put it on, her face had been red for half the night, and she had hidden behind her the entire evening, afraid to come out and meet people.
Jiang Yunjuan pinched her brow bone. To verify her suspicion, she immediately said to the driver in a deep voice, “Old He, follow the car in front.”
The driver glanced at her in the rearview mirror, puzzled, but didn’t dare to disobey in the slightest. “Okay, President Jiang.”
••••
The flashy sports car drove all the way to GB Bar. Wen Qing walked in on her stilettos, and Yu Xinlan was already waiting for her at the bar.
Yu Xinlan was almost shocked speechless by her punk rock style. She quickly covered half of her face with one hand and said with disgust, “Don’t tell anyone I know you. Did Jiang Yunjuan drive you crazy with this outfit today?”
Wen Qing sat down next to her and retorted with a smile, “Aren’t you also wearing gaudy pink, trying to look young?”
Yu Xinlan couldn’t argue with her and asked, “Then… shall we drink?”
Wen Qing slammed the table vigorously, “We won’t go home until we’re drunk! My sister!”
GB Bar, also known as “a life of dissipation,” was a place where you could have so much fun that you forgot all your troubles.
The dynamic dance music was deafening, and the lonely men and women swaying freely on the dance floor were all the main characters tonight.
Half an hour later, Wen Qing was feeling a little tipsy.
“Little sister, all alone?” A sexy woman who had been observing her for a long time leaned over and struck up a conversation.
Wen Qing slurred drunkenly, raising an eyebrow while swirling her wine glass, “Who are you calling little sister?”
“Not little sister?”
The woman sat down beside her, looked at her wild girl outfit, and scoffed.
“Then what should I call you, Ms. Mature?”
Wen Qing roared, “Please call me by my full name: Niu Hulu. Lost Pearl of the Sea. Venus. Sexy Goddess!”
With a “pfft,” the woman finally laughed.
She extended an invitation, “Alright, Goddess Venus, shall we go to the dance floor?”
Wen Qing shook her head, politely refusing, “Forgot to change my heels, it’s inconvenient. My head can be chopped off, bl00d can flow, but my heels cannot be discarded.”
Actually, she just didn’t want to be so unrestrained before she divorced Jiang Yunjuan. It was better to be a bit more reserved, so she deliberately wore stilettos out.
The woman was a little disappointed and asked again, “Then can I buy you a few drinks?”
“Sure!”
“My sister is generous!”
Another half hour passed.
Wen Qing was already quite drunk, but she didn’t mind getting even more drunk. Anyway, as long as Yu Xinlan stayed sober and could safely take her home, that was fine.
Wen Qing chatted with the woman casually. She learned that the woman had just broken up. After a few clinks of glasses, the woman started talking more and more, treating her like a confidante and pouring out her grievances.
Wen Qing was happy to adopt the attitude of someone who had been through it and advised her: Nowadays, money is king. Goodbye is goodbye, the next one will be better.
The woman sighed deeply, put on a sad face, and asked her, “Will you be my next one?”
Wen Qing smiled without answering, the nightclub lights dim: “Let me tell you a secret.”
The woman leaned closer, “Hmm?”
Wen Qing said loudly, “I only need to hold on for a few more days, and I’ll be divorced!”
The woman became interested, “Really?”
“Of course, it’s true!” Wen Qing couldn’t hide her excitement, “Why would I lie to you about such a great thing?”
“Then we’re a perfect match,” the woman said with a smile, “After all, one just broke up, and the other is about to get divorced. It’s a match made in heaven.”
Wen Qing gently shook her index finger in front of her face, “My goal is to be a fish.”
The woman raised her glass, somewhat curious, “How so? Free and unrestrained?”
“No, no, no…”
Wen Qing shook her head, clinked glasses with her, and drank it all in one go.
“I want to conquer the entire ocean and become an outstanding sea king!”
“…Ambitious.”
“Another toast?”
“Cheers!”
Wen Qing had no idea that while she was saying these words, behind a waist-high stand less than five meters away from her, Jiang Yunjuan in a navy blue bespoke suit was standing there.
Jiang Yunjuan observed her chatting happily in the crowd, but her entire face was frighteningly cold.
Of course, if Wen Qing could see Jiang Yunjuan at this moment.
She would definitely add a sentence—
In Jiang Yunjuan’s eyes, a very strange light was flashing…
