Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Seeing Jiang Chuxie brush it off, Liu Wen said helplessly, “You, don’t act so carefree. Saving people is good, but your safety comes first.”
Jiang Chuxie gave a wry smile. “Sister Liu, you might not see it, but I’m pretty attached to staying alive.”
Living a second life, even in the body of a major villain, Jiang Chuxie cherished this hard-won second chance. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so cautious, constantly fighting against the plot.
Liu Wen shook her head. “Fine, talking to you is pointless. You can quit, but don’t cut contact with me. Come by the shop when you’re free. You still need suppressants, right?”
Though she was resigning, mandatory suppressants were essential for Jiang Chuxie. She was wondering how to bring it up when Liu Wen mentioned it first.
“I’ll pay extra.”
“What nonsense is that? You’re not treating me like family. I only made you work here because I was worried you were getting too withdrawn. But since you’re starting your own business, I won’t waste your time. I’m really rooting for you.”
If asked who Jiang Chuxie considered a friend in this world, Liu Wen would be the first to come to mind. When she first arrived at university, she spent all her savings on tuition and a computer. Without Liu Wen’s help, she might’ve starved on the streets, defeated by a single dollar.
If it weren’t for meeting Gu Lingjun, she wouldn’t have planned to quit so soon.
“Thanks, Sister Liu. I won’t be working here, but if you need help—like fixing a computer—just let me know.”
Liu Wen burst out laughing. “Got it. Physical work goes to your Brother Zhang, technical stuff to you.”
Zhang Luping and Liu Wen were childhood sweethearts, married for just over a year and still in their honeymoon phase. Funnily enough, Jiang Chuxie had been a catalyst for their relationship. Zhang Luping initially saw her as a rival and was hostile for a while, but now he called her “little sister” affectionately.
“By the way, I have a favor to ask Brother Zhang.”
Liu Wen, as if expecting it, smiled. “Don’t worry. I called him as soon as I heard. A trash Alpha like that—how could we let him off?”
Zhang Luping worked at the police station. With his Alpha status and strong skills, he’d become a team leader at a young age. Jiang Chuxie wasn’t asking him to bend the law but was wary of Dean Xu pulling strings, so she hoped he’d keep an eye on the case.
She briefly explained the situation, and Liu Wen fumed. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Luping follows through when I get home.”
With the Gu family’s influence, Jiang Chuxie probably didn’t need to worry so much. But since their main power wasn’t local, she feared petty obstacles could cause trouble for her, so she took this “extra step.”
“Thanks, Sister Liu.”
“No need for thanks,” Liu Wen said boldly, waving her hand dismissively. “If all Alphas were like you, Omegas would have it much better.”
“It’s not just me. Brother Zhang and others care about Omegas too, don’t they?”
Liu Wen shook her head. “Your brother loves and cares for me, and he’s got a strong sense of justice, but deep down… you get it? We grew up together; I know his strengths and flaws. I’m not dissatisfied with him, but there’s something about you he could never learn.”
Jiang Chuxie understood that feeling. Perhaps it was that very thing that kept her out of place in this world.
“Sister Liu, I believe things will get better.”
Her words weren’t baseless. Though “Too Early for Fashion” was essentially an adult novel, the author elevated its themes toward the end. Not only did the heroine find “happiness,” but the Omega rights movement achieved significant victories, moving beyond the fragile flower stereotype.
“Alright, I’m just venting. I’m not one for melancholy. Instead of dwelling, I’d rather live well.” Liu Wen smiled, regaining her spirit as if her earlier gloom was an illusion. “It’s getting late; head back to school. I didn’t bring suppressants today. Call me when you’re free, and I’ll drop them off.”
Jiang Chuxie still had some mandatory suppressants, and the dean hadn’t contacted her lately, so she wasn’t in a rush.
“No worries, I’m about to ‘go into seclusion’ for a bit. I’ll come by when I have time.”
When Jiang Chuxie returned to campus from the café, it was completely dark. Avoiding night walks was her rule, as darkness bred crime, and the chance of encountering trouble spiked…
“Help! S-save me!”
“Hah…”
Jiang Chuxie sighed softly, pulling out her phone to call the police while running toward the sound.
B University was in the old city, where the campus blended into residential areas. Narrow, dark alleys lined Garbage Street. With the old city slated for demolition, many residents had moved out, making these alleys prime spots for crime.
Jiang Chuxie hurried over but didn’t act recklessly. Peeking around a corner and confirming only two culprits, she picked up a brick from the ground.
The alley was too dim to see their faces. From their voices, they were two men, likely Betas. They were spewing profanities—one restraining a male Omega being assaulted, the other seemingly undressing him.
The Omega’s mouth was covered, his muffled sobs barely audible, his weak struggles no match for the two.
Jiang Chuxie’s anger flared. Without hesitation, she rushed out silently, raising the brick and smashing it against the Beta facing away from her.
An Alpha trained in self-defense could usually handle two Betas, especially with a surprise attack, giving her a good chance to save the victim.
If she couldn’t handle it, she’d wait for the police. But sometimes, just calling them wasn’t enough to prevent tragedy.
“Ah!”
Her brick knocked one Beta flat. The other two seemed stunned. The second culprit, startled, let go of the Omega, who, unsurprisingly, screamed.
With years of experience, Jiang Chuxie didn’t hesitate, hurling the brick at the second Beta’s face.
The two seemed like amateurs, completely unprepared for surprises, and were both taken down by the same brick.
“What are you standing there for? Run!”
Jiang Chuxie grabbed the Omega and bolted. Even if she could fight, her priority was avoiding direct conflict. She was here to save, not to play hero.
She pulled the Omega along, running recklessly until they reached the main road, where lights and people gave them safety. She stopped, barely winded as an Alpha, but the Omega she dragged was at his limit, collapsing onto the curb.
“I-I can’t run anymore…”
Jiang Chuxie felt the voice sounded familiar. Releasing his hand, she looked down at the small, frail male Omega, softening her tone. “Are you okay?”
His clothes were neater than she’d expected, but he was likely terrified. His hand, cold and clammy, left a lingering sensation on hers.
Hearing her voice, the Omega looked up suddenly, his delicate, charming face lit by the streetlamp with a look of joy.
“It’s you!”
Jiang Chuxie’s eye twitched as she finally recognized him—this was the same damn Omega she’d saved on the first day of school!
Why him again?
