Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
The luxury car stopped at the university gate. Exhausted from Mu Qing’s relentless questions, Jiang Chuxie bolted out as soon as it parked.
“Thanks for the ride. Goodbye.”
Never again!
“Goodbye, Miss Jiang. I’ll transfer the money to your account.”
Gu Lian smiled, her words sounding like both a reminder and a warning. Jiang Chuxie inexplicably avoided Gu Lingjun’s reaction, only nodding. “Thank you.”
She walked toward the campus gate without looking back.
Gu Lingjun watched Jiang Chuxie’s retreating figure, overhearing her parents’ coordinated exchange in the backseat.
“Miss Jiang seems like a good person.”
“Yes, very just.”
“Such a pity we’re leaving soon and can’t thank her properly.”
“Her willingness to accept this small token of gratitude is a big help.”
Gu Lingjun gave a helpless smile. “Mom, how much are you planning to give as thanks?”
“How much does Lingjun think is appropriate?”
“If it weren’t for Miss Jiang, I don’t know what would’ve happened to me. From that perspective, the thanks shouldn’t be too light, right?”
Bargaining for an outsider was unheard of, even before Gu Lingjun’s differentiation.
Gu Lian looked at her daughter with interest. “Does my dear think fifty thousand is enough?”
Gu Lingjun paused briefly. “My yearly allowance is more than fifty thousand. Mom, I think adding a digit would be more reasonable.”
“Alright, five million then,” Gu Lian agreed readily. “Now, dear, take us to the airport.”
They’d delayed work to stay in B City for two weeks, and business could wait no longer. They’d booked afternoon flights and were leaving immediately.
“Okay.”
Gu Lingjun glanced out the window again. Jiang Chuxie, now far off, suddenly stopped, seeming about to turn. A spark of anticipation lit in Gu Lingjun’s heart, but then she saw a petite male Omega grab Jiang Chuxie’s hand.
Gu Lingjun narrowed her eyes slightly but said calmly, “Uncle Wu, let’s go.”
Just before entering the campus gate, Jiang Chuxie couldn’t help but stop.
It was over. Based on past experience, this incident had a beginning and an end. As long as she kept her distance from Gu Lingjun, they’d have no further contact.
But the thought of Gu Lingjun’s face brought a wave of regret.
For Jiang Chuxie, a transmigrator, even those oddball parents couldn’t spark any sense of closeness. Only meeting Gu Lingjun—the heroine’s mother, mentioned only by name in the story—gave her a fleeting sense of reality.
The dreamlike descriptions flooding her mind were laughable on reflection. But perhaps because transmigration itself was so surreal, those praises felt oddly real.
It was hard to describe, as if… Gu Lingjun was her connection to this world.
She couldn’t resist wanting to see Gu Lingjun one last time—per the original plot, she was supposed to be her wife, the mother of her child.
“Senior Jiang, what a coincidence! We meet again!”
But just as Jiang Chuxie was about to turn, a familiar voice rang in her ear, followed by a cold, clammy touch on her hand.
The sensation reminded her of a snake or lizard, and she instinctively yanked her hand back.
“You?”
The male Omega, dubbed the new humanities department beauty by Zhuang Qi, stood before her, hands behind his back, exuding an utterly charming Omega aura.
But recognizing him, Jiang Chuxie frowned. If Gu Lingjun was the person she most avoided, this male Omega was the one she least wanted near now.
Meeting danger twice in a month, both times saved by her, felt far from normal.
“Senior Jiang, just back from somewhere?”
The Omega seemed enthusiastic and innocent, but Jiang Chuxie was unmoved, stepping back with a cold expression.
“Yeah. What do you want?”
“The school’s holding a welcome party soon. I want to invite you as my dance partner.”
The individual colleges’ welcome events were done, but this one was co-hosted by the college and university student councils, reportedly exclusive to student council members, some club officers, and a select few students.
Zhuang Qi, the Information Technology Institute’s student council president, was busy with it and had invited Jiang Chuxie with a ticket a few days ago, only to be flatly rejected.
“Sorry, I’m busy.”
Jiang Chuxie glanced back at where she’d come from, noticing Gu Lingjun’s car was gone.
“I haven’t even said when it is!”
Jiang Chuxie sighed inwardly, brushing past the Omega and striding through the gate.
“I’m busy whenever it is.”
Ignored again, the Omega stomped his foot in frustration.
“Chuxie, you’re back?” Jiang Chuxie sat at her computer as soon as she returned to the dorm. Zhuang Qi, seemingly just up, emerged from the bathroom with damp hair. “Have you eaten?”
Jiang Chuxie realized she’d forgotten to eat.
“…Forgot.”
“Come on, you dive into your computer the second you’re back, skipping meals.” Zhuang Qi shook her head, sighing. “You can’t keep this up. You need to relax. Come to the welcome party this weekend with me. If you dress up, tons of Omegas will be throwing themselves at you.”
Jiang Chuxie rolled her eyes. “You know I don’t like that.”
“Yeah, yeah, you don’t. It’s bizarre—an Alpha who doesn’t like Omegas. Can’t blame me for suspecting you before.”
Jiang Chuxie had heard such comments before and usually brushed them off, but today, they irked her for some reason. It wasn’t that she disliked Omegas; she just couldn’t get close to anyone in this world. And the person she had to guard against most was Gu Lingjun, her supposed wife.
Jiang Chuxie knew she wouldn’t marry anyone, not even Gu Lingjun. But she didn’t understand why confirming this fact again made her feel so empty.
“Why does an Alpha have to like Omegas? I’d rather hang out with computers than people. Stop bugging me with Omegas!”
Zhuang Qi was stunned, mouth agape, staring at Jiang Chuxie. After a long pause, she muttered, “S-so, you really treat coding like a relationship? Is that… technosexuality or something?”
