Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Hearing Zhuang Qi’s name, Jiang Chuxie wasn’t the least bit surprised. At school, only Zhuang Qi could keep tabs on her whereabouts.
“I asked Senior Zhuang for help. Please don’t blame her.”
Gu Lingjun going to such lengths was a bit unexpected for Jiang Chuxie. Looking at the Omega’s guilty face, she could only feel helpless.
“If you’re trying to thank me for what happened before, there’s really no need. You should know, right? Your mom gave me a lot of money.”
Gu Lingjun nodded. “I know. That’s only right, and I’m so glad you accepted it.”
Is this what being a rich young lady is like? She really doesn’t treat money like money!
“So don’t misunderstand. I only agreed this time because the money your mom gave me was a bit more than I expected. It’s like an after-service for you, nothing more. Don’t get any hopes up.”
That sounded pretty narcissistic, but Jiang Chuxie felt it wasn’t her fault at all! Judging by Gu Lingjun’s behavior earlier, it’d be weirder if she didn’t like her!
Even if she was helping Gu Lingjun, she had to nip this crush in the bud.
Gu Lingjun’s eyes widened slightly, and after staring at Jiang Chuxie’s face for a moment, she smiled shyly.
“I understand, Senior. You don’t like Omegas, so I don’t have any expectations beyond friendship.”
“Good, as long as you get it.” Though she really didn’t like Omegas, Gu Gu Lingjun’s tone still made Jiang Chuxie feel a bit odd. “And about being your dance partner this time, you’ve seen how I am. Don’t complain if I end up embarrassing you.”
Gu Lingjun covered her lips, laughing gracefully, but for some reason, Jiang Chuxie sensed a hint of mischief in it.
“Senior, I invited you because I couldn’t think of anyone else, and I also wanted to use this chance to become friends with you. Like I said before, maybe it’s because you don’t like Omegas that I feel you’re safe and reliable, and why I want to be friends with you. I’ve never thought about whether it’s embarrassing or not. Besides, I think Senior is not only beautiful on the inside but also really striking on the outside.”
Huh?
Huh?!
Could it be Gu Lingjun really didn’t like her? Could it be that because of her coldness toward Omegas, Gu Lingjun thought she was harmless?
Could it be Gu Lingjun saw her as some kind of “gay best friend”???
“So you can rest assured, I don’t have the expectations you’re afraid of.”
Huh, this was exactly what she wanted, so why did she feel so disappointed?
“That’s good…”
But if that’s the case, doesn’t that mean she doesn’t have to be so scared of interacting with Gu Lingjun? After all, if it’s just being friends, it could be like with Sister Liu.
Gu Lingjun seemed thrilled, looking at Jiang Chuxie’s face with trust. “Then, I’ll leave tomorrow’s welcome party to you, Senior. It’s at the school auditorium, starting at six in the evening. Where do you think we should meet?”
For safety reasons, the Alpha and Omega dorms were quite far apart, and the auditorium wasn’t on the way.
“Five-thirty, I’ll wait for you downstairs at your dorm. If something comes up, just text me.”
“Will you answer?”
Gu Lingjun asked so meekly that Jiang Chuxie’s conscience stung—Gu Lingjun hadn’t called her before, but she had sent a thank-you text once, which Jiang Chuxie didn’t reply to.
“Since we’ve agreed, I won’t go back on my word. Of course I’ll answer.”
“Mm, thank you, Senior.”
Gu Lingjun’s radiant smile was devastatingly powerful. Jiang Chuxie hadn’t expected such a straightforward expression on her usually refined and reserved face, and her heart felt like it took a critical hit.
“Then, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out.”
Gu Lingjun nodded. “Okay, I’ll go return the book. Take care, Senior.”
Jiang Chuxie had thought the book was just an excuse, but Gu Lingjun actually meant to return it. Before leaving, she instinctively glanced at the cover again. Seeing the words “Western Mythology Systems”, she inexplicably thought of those flowery compliments that kept popping into her head—maybe she should look into it when she had time, see if she could find any clues.
Gu Lingjun smiled as she watched Jiang Chuxie leave, her fingers lightly brushing the spine of the book before she let out a soft sigh.
She hadn’t… told a single lie, you know.
Whether it was pretending to return a book to “run into” Jiang Chuxie or unexpectedly meeting that Alpha from the student council, she hadn’t lied. She even honestly gave up Zhuang Qi as her source.
Jiang Chuxie had agreed to her invitation under pressure, and she’d given Jiang Chuxie a chance to back out. But just as she’d expected, Senior Jiang was too kind.
Was this her true nature?
Even though her thoughts and outward behavior weren’t much different from before, she felt like she’d been reborn.
Gu Lingjun had only wanted to see how far she could go, but when she actually carried out the whole plan, she was a little startled herself.
Her calm was unexpected, and playing the delicate role came so naturally. Meeting that Alpha was an accident, but using him wasn’t.
She’d scared herself, but not in a bad way. If anything, she was thrilled with her performance and was gradually getting used to the harmony between her mind and body.
Using some tactics to get closer to Jiang Chuxie did make Gu Lingjun feel a bit guilty. But like she’d said, she wouldn’t do anything Jiang Chuxie didn’t want. She just wanted to figure out why Jiang Chuxie’s appearance had helped her rediscover herself.
“Hey, Chuxie, you’re back? Come quick, come quick, help me pick which outfit looks better.”
As soon as Jiang Chuxie returned to the dorm, she saw Zhuang Qi striking poses in front of the full-length mirror. Several dresses hung on a nearby chair, each looking ridiculously expensive.
But Jiang Chuxie wasn’t in the mood to help her decide, her face dark as she said, “Why did you tell Gu Lingjun where I was?”
“Huh?”
“Huh, what? I already know!”
Seeing Jiang Chuxie’s sour expression, Zhuang Qi quickly backed up a few steps, declaring righteously, “Hold on, hold on! Before you get mad at me, let me defend myself. Hear me out first!”
Jiang Chuxie crossed her arms and sneered. “Fine, let’s see what you’ve got to say.”
“I did this for you, Chuxie!”
“Heh, that’s not surprising at all.”
Jiang Chuxie stepped forward, and Zhuang Qi, remembering how easily she’d been overpowered before, got scared and backed up again.
“I’m serious! Haven’t you been all distracted these past few days? I just wanted you to relax a bit! Junior Gu is not only good-looking but has a great personality and a wealthy family. Even if you want to focus on your career first, making friends with her can only help you!”
“You know about Gu Lingjun’s family background?”
“Yeah, yeah! My family does business with the Gu family, so I know. Chuxie, you see my good intentions now, right? I really believe in you. I think you’re destined for big things, and that’s why I did this!”
Jiang Chuxie’s face was full of exasperation. “Big things, like becoming a kept man?”
“Don’t say it like that, so crass. I know your character, and I want your talents to shine. Gu Lingjun likes you too, so what’s wrong with that? I’d call it a perfect match!”
Jiang Chuxie had thought Zhuang Qi was just stirring up drama for fun, but she hadn’t expected her to think this far ahead, which actually left her too stunned to stay mad.
“If I need investors, I’d rather go to your Zhuang family. You guys are already in that business. Why push me toward someone else?”
“You don’t get it. Capitalists eat people without spitting out the bones, even my family’s no different. My dad lost a power struggle and is being suppressed by my uncle. My aunt got kicked out of the family. If you work with the Zhuang family, I wouldn’t be able to help you at all.”
“Then I can find other investors.”
“What investor could be better than the Gu family? Even if you don’t like Gu Lingjun, just being friends with her will help you a ton in the future.”
Zhuang Qi might seem carefree, but coming from a big family, her mind was far from simple.
Jiang Chuxie couldn’t help but sigh. So even this smutty story had some logic to it.
“Alright, I’ll admit your intentions were for my sake, but this isn’t what I want. If Gu Lingjun doesn’t like me, fine. But if she does, doing this will definitely hurt her, don’t you think?”
She calmed down and reasoned with Zhuang Qi, who looked all shy and fidgety.
“Then you could like her.”
Jiang Chuxie sighed. “Zhuang Qi, you don’t understand…”
“I don’t understand, Chuxie. Do you really like Alphas instead?”
