Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 48
Chapter 48
After backup arrived, the security guard immediately went to find Gu Lingjun. An Omega being attacked in the hotel was serious, but if something happened to Gu Lingjun, it would be even worse.
But in just a few minutes, Gu Lingjun had vanished. He had no choice but to report it, and they checked the surveillance footage, quickly getting results.
“What… do we do?”
After watching the footage, the security team exchanged glances, all turning to their leader.
Gu Lingjun had entered Jiang Chuxie’s room, clearly of her own accord. In this situation, it wasn’t their place to interfere. Besides, the two seemed like a couple, and aside from the hotel’s directive to ensure Gu Lingjun’s safety, they had no reason to disturb them.
“Call Jiang Chuxie’s room first. If no one answers, notify the Gu family’s driver.” The security team leader, a female Alpha, thought for a moment before deciding. “What’s the status of the other two?”
“The Omega’s condition is stable, and we’ve notified his companions. As for the other Beta, he seems very suspicious. We’ve detained him and called the police. But…”
But the police couldn’t arrive quickly, and Area B’s surveillance was down. They might only learn what happened when Yu Wen woke up.
“You didn’t know Area B’s surveillance was broken?”
“The ski slope incident caused a lot of chaos today. Security was busy maintaining order, and we only noticed the cameras were out late. Repairs have to wait until tomorrow.”
The leader sighed heavily. “Others aside, this Miss Gu seems to have powerful backing. This is serious. Make sure all evidence at the scene is preserved for the police.”
“Don’t worry about that… But I heard the ski slope cable car failure was sabotage. Do you think it’s related to this?”
The leader glared at her subordinate. “Don’t speculate without evidence, and definitely don’t say that in front of the police, got it?”
“Oh, I understand.”
Still uneasy, the leader added, “This can’t be tied to our company. We don’t know the full situation yet, but Yu Wen and Jiang Chuxie are classmates, and that other guy’s appearance doesn’t seem coincidental. This is their personal grudge, just happening in our hotel.”
“Yes, I got it!”
“Captain, the call went through!”
Though the leader had ordered the call, she wasn’t optimistic. Given the syringes at the scene and Jiang Chuxie’s behavior on the footage, she doubted the two were just chatting in the room.
Taking the phone, she signaled her team to record—the security department’s lines had recording capabilities.
“Hello, is this Miss Jiang?”
“No, it’s Gu Lingjun.”
The voice on the other end was calm and flat, but faint, heavy breathing could be heard in the background.
Ignoring the sound, the leader replied calmly, “Here’s the situation: the Omega area guard reported an emergency, so we’re checking on your safety…”
She quickly explained their side, and Gu Lingjun seemed to listen quietly, only responding at the end. “…Thank you for your concern. Something did happen… No… Well, I’m fine now… and I’ll take care of Chuxie. I know you’ve been busy with everything today, so you don’t need to waste manpower on me.”
“It’s our duty, especially since, Miss Gu… your parents specifically instructed us to look after you. We just need to confirm you’re safe. Do you really not need our help?”
The leader wanted a liability waiver, so even if the Gu family pursued it, the hotel and staff would be clear.
“Yes, I’m sure. Thank you for your concern… But I think it’s better if you pretend you don’t know about this. The guard didn’t see me during the emergency and doesn’t know I went to Chuxie’s room. Wouldn’t that be simpler?”
The leader paused, but Gu Lingjun continued with a smile, “Of course, it’s just a suggestion. If you think this call recording will keep my mother from blaming you, then use it.”
The line went dead, but the leader was stunned for a long time.
As Gu Lingjun said, the recording might absolve them, but it wouldn’t quell her parents’ anger. They’d known something was off yet chosen self-preservation.
If they’d been unaware from the start, even if negligent, the Gu family couldn’t fully blame them. They weren’t police and couldn’t guard Gu Lingjun 24/7.
The leader hadn’t expected the seemingly innocent young lady to think so far ahead so quickly.
“Captain, what do we do?”
The female Alpha snapped back at her subordinate’s question, saying quietly, “Gather everyone available for an emergency meeting. As for Miss Gu… let her decide.”
Gu Lingjun was eighteen. If her parents intervened directly, that might be reasonable. But as hotel security, acting against an adult’s clear refusal was unjustifiable.
Worst case, they had the recording to dodge responsibility.
Gu Lingjun barely held on until the call ended. As soon as she hung up, the “big puppy” behind her, who’d been patiently holding back, eagerly nuzzled closer.
“Senior…”
Her strained rationality crumbled. In fact, it wasn’t just Jiang Chuxie who needed relief. Perhaps due to intense stimulation, Gu Lingjun’s second heat had arrived early.
Jiang Chuxie, still irrational, was overwhelmed by long-suppressed desire, like a tidal wave drowning her reason. Her restraint during the call was already remarkable.
Gu Lingjun hooked her arms around Jiang Chuxie’s neck,Drupal her husky voice dreamy, like a siren luring one to ruin.
“Let’s continue.”
Zhuang Qi and Zhao Zi returned from the ski slope the next afternoon, disheveled and exhausted. After a freezing night, they wanted nothing more than a hot shower and a warm meal.
“Let’s rest and clean up in our rooms. I’ll contact Chuxie, you reach out to Gu Lingjun,” Zhuang Qi said, her face pale, lips blue, arms crossed. “Order food to the rooms. We’ll plan once we’ve recovered.”
Zhao Zi nodded eagerly. “I’ll shower first. Let’s hit the hot springs when we’re feeling better.”
Their phones were dead. After hot showers, they called Jiang Chuxie and Gu Lingjun.
Zhao Zi couldn’t reach Gu Lingjun’s mobile and tried the hotel room phone, but no one answered. Just as she considered knocking on the next room, Zhuang Qi called her.
“Hey, did you reach Jiang—”
“No, no, no, Zhao Zi, it’s over, it’s all over!”
Zhuang Qi’s frantic outburst cut Zhao Zi off, sounding utterly panicked.
“What’s wrong? Calm down, what’s over?”
Confused, Zhao Zi listened as Zhuang Qi rushed, “I called Chuxie. Her phone didn’t work, so I tried the hotel line…”
“Same here. Did you get through?”
“I did! But… but… Gu Lingjun answered!”
Zhao Zi didn’t grasp the gravity yet, saying, “Oh, so Lingjun’s with Jiang Chuxie. No wonder I couldn’t reach her. Why are their phones off? Did you talk to them? What’s next—”
“No, no! Zhao Zi, listen, Gu Lingjun was in Jiang Chuxie’s room!”
“So what?”
It was daytime. Gu Lingjun visiting Jiang Chuxie’s room wasn’t odd.
“You trust Jiang Chuxie, right? With us gone, they’d hang out. Just visiting her room…”
“But what kind of ‘hanging out’ involves that kind of panting?”
“Huh?”
“I-I’m telling you, I called, it rang three times, and someone picked up. First, it was Gu Lingjun’s voice, like she just woke up, but the receiver dropped. Then I… I heard… ugh, thinking about it makes me blush. I panicked and hung up!”
Zhuang Qi’s vague, suggestive tone made Zhao Zi’s heart skip, finally sensing something was seriously off.
“You’re sure… you didn’t mishear?”
“I’m not deaf or stupid—how could I mishear?” Zhuang Qi said nervously. “This is bad. Gu Lingjun’s mom knows she’s here with us. If she finds out, won’t she kill Chuxie?”
Zhao Zi snapped, “Stop talking nonsense! Calm down! It might not be what you think… Even if it is, if it’s consensual, there’s nothing to freak out about!”
She said that, but Zhao Zi was uneasy too. For one, the two hadn’t confirmed their relationship before coming. For another, Gu Lingjun’s parents were strict. If they’d gotten intimate so ambiguously, who knew how the Gu family would react?
Plus, Zhuang Qi, the trip’s organizer, and Zhao Zi, who’d vouched for Gu Lingjun to her parents, might face their wrath.
But the whole thing was odd. First, Jiang Chuxie’s prior behavior didn’t suggest she’d act like this. Second, while Gu Lingjun liked her, she had a refined, reserved demeanor.
How could two such people, not even officially together or just barely so, leap to such intimacy?
“Should we go to Chuxie’s room?”
“What’s the point now? Come to my room, and we’ll figure it out.”
“Okay, okay, hurry!”
Zhao Zi rushed out, passing the area entrance and spotting a guard, remembering something.
“Hi, were you on duty here last night? Did Miss Gu, who’s staying here, come back?”
The guard stood rigidly, eyes straight ahead.
“I was on the first half of the night shift. Didn’t see Miss Gu return. I don’t know about the second half.”
Zhao Zi recalled Zhuang Qi saying they’d spoken around 2 a.m. If Gu Lingjun hadn’t returned by then, everything—wanted or not—had likely happened.
“Thanks.”
Zhao Zi hurried to Zhuang Qi’s room, where the door was ajar.
Inside, she found Zhuang Qi pressed against the wall, seemingly trying to eavesdrop on the next room.
“Zhuang Qi, what are you doing?”
Zhao Zi’s face darkened. Zhuang Qi, seeing her, waved frantically. “Come here! Can you hear anything from next door? I couldn’t at the door, thought maybe inside…”
Zhao Zi walked over and smacked her head. “Don’t be so creepy, okay?”
Zhuang Qi felt wronged. Creepy? She was worried!
“Aren’t you worried? Chuxie’s being reckless. Gu Lingjun likes her so much—if she took it slow, proved her worth and character, the Gu family would accept her. Now, won’t Gu Lian see her as some punk who seduced his daughter?”
Zhuang Qi had been rooting for Gu Lingjun and Jiang Chuxie, hoping a connection with the Gu family would smooth Jiang Chuxie’s path. Objectively, since Gu Lian’s own marriage wasn’t a status match, she believed true love could win the family over.
But now, not only would Jiang Chuxie leave a bad impression on Gu Lian, but she and Zhao Zi would likely be labeled accomplices.
“Don’t jump to conclusions without knowing the full story.”
Zhao Zi hadn’t heard the call herself, so she still couldn’t believe Gu Lingjun and Jiang Chuxie had done anything.
It just didn’t add up.
The timing was too perfect—Zhuang Qi and Zhao Zi got stuck on the mountain, and Jiang Chuxie and Gu Lingjun couldn’t wait to get intimate. If Jiang Chuxie orchestrated it, she’d hidden her intentions too well.
Maybe something else they didn’t know about had happened.
“Does Uncle Wu know?”
Zhao Zi shook her head. “Probably not, or it wouldn’t be so calm. Best to contact them first, figure out what’s going on, then plan.”
“I don’t know if they’ve hung up.” Zhuang Qi looked anxious. “And I’m… I’m scared they’re still…”
“What’s the use of worrying? Better than eavesdropping?” Zhao Zi rolled her eyes, grabbing the phone. “Let’s call. Even if they’re… you know, they need to explain to us first so we can help.”
Zhuang Qi knew she was right. “Fine, you call.”
Zhao Zi didn’t expect her to step up, dialing the next room.
Luckily, the receiver was back in place. But it rang for ages with no answer. Just as Zhao Zi thought they were too occupied, someone picked up.
“Leave the food at the door…”
Before Zhao Zi could speak, Gu Lingjun’s weak voice came through. As Zhuang Qi said, it was hard to believe nothing had happened.
“Lingjun, it’s me.” Zhao Zi swallowed, her heart racing nervously. “Zhuang Qi and I are back. You and Jiang Chuxie… how are you now?”
Gu Lingjun’s voice sounded like she’d been crying, hoarse and tired, with soft sobs.
“…Senior, I’m sorry… I’ll explain later…”
The more Zhao Zi heard, the worse it felt. “You… are you in heat? How? Where’s Jiang Chuxie?”
“It’s complicated… I can’t explain now… Senior Jiang was set up… Can I explain later?”
Omegas in heat struggled to stay rational for long, and Zhao Zi, knowing this, couldn’t press her for details.
“Then I’ll ask one thing: was it consensual?”
“…Of course.”
“What? What?” Zhuang Qi, seeing Zhao Zi hang up, asked anxiously. “Who answered? What’s going on?”
Zhao Zi frowned, organizing her thoughts before speaking. “They’ve definitely… But Lingjun said Jiang Chuxie was set up, and she was completely willing. She told us to check with security for details and said they’ll explain more after her heat.”
Zhuang Qi’s eyes widened. “H-Heat? Gu Lingjun’s in heat?”
Zhao Zi snapped, “Omegas have fixed heat cycles, but intense stimulation can trigger one early. Can you learn some biology?”
Zhuang Qi pouted. “I’m not an Omega and don’t study biology. Isn’t it normal not to know?”
“Then learn! What if I’m in heat someday, and you don’t know what to do?”
“Uh…”
Zhuang Qi’s mouth hung open, her face reddening. Zhao Zi, realizing her words, felt shy too, clearing her throat. “Enough of this. Let’s go to security. The hotel’s calm, so it probably didn’t blow up.”
The deed was done, the rice cooked. Panicking wouldn’t help.
Hearing Jiang Chuxie was set up, Zhuang Qi shed her panic, now angry. “Who’s targeting Chuxie? Let’s go to security and find out!”
She was ready to roll up her sleeves, but Zhao Zi knew she was relieved.
If the setup had succeeded differently, things would be worse, and Zhuang Qi wouldn’t be relaxed.
Learning Gu Lingjun and Jiang Chuxie had been intimate had her worried for her friend. Knowing Jiang Chuxie was framed, not luring Gu Lingjun, eased her mind.
At least it wasn’t entirely Jiang Chuxie’s fault, proving Zhuang Qi’s judgment of her friend was sound.
“Let’s go to security.”
As Zhuang Qi and Zhao Zi left, they saw hotel staff pushing a food cart to Jiang Chuxie’s door.
Zhuang Qi glanced at the door, saying worriedly, “It’s their first time. They’ll be okay, right? Chuxie’s so proper, and Gu Lingjun’s a refined lady.”
“Why worry? They can’t mess up basic instincts, can they?”
Zhuang Qi, post-anger, grew anxious again. “Maybe, but you don’t know Chuxie. If she was framed, she might not cope afterward.”
“Nothing we can do… If there’s no mark, it’s up to them. If she marked Lingjun, does her acceptance even matter?”
Zhuang Qi’s head spun. “How did it come to this? I just wanted a fun trip… I’m doomed. Chuxie was framed, but I planned this trip. The Gu family won’t let me off…”
“What’s the use of thinking that? Besides, if someone’s targeting Jiang Chuxie, she’d be framed eventually, trip or not.” Though comforting Zhuang Qi, Zhao Zi looked grim. “Lingjun clearly likes her, which helps. But Chuxie… ugh, you’re her roommate and friend. What was her stance before? Does she like Lingjun?”
If handled well, this could just spark their romance. The person who framed Jiang Chuxie deserved punishment, but it might not irreparably harm them or their families.
If mishandled, friends could turn to enemies, with unpredictable fallout.
“Ugh, Chuxie definitely likes Gu Lingjun. She’s just shy. You think she doesn’t say it, so she doesn’t like her? You haven’t seen how she treats other Omegas. She didn’t respond to Gu Lingjun’s feelings because of her parents.”
“Really?”
“Really, absolutely. After meeting Gu Lingjun’s parents, she threw herself into work, pulling out all her best stuff. Why? To establish herself so Gu Lingjun’s parents wouldn’t look down on her!”
Zhao Zi thought it made sense.
“If that’s true, they just need the Gu family’s approval… What’s Jiang Chuxie’s family like?”
“Chuxie cut ties with her family. She’s on her own now. Why else would I say she’s perfect for Gu Lingjun? Gu Lian wants a son-in-law who’ll join the family, right? Chuxie’s got great character and skills—perfect for her.”
Zhao Zi snorted. “Zhuang Qi, you act carefree, but you’ve got plenty of schemes. You’ve already scoped everything out, planning to hook the Gu family, huh?”
“What? Scheming the Gu family? Zhao Zi, I’m not as reliable as Chuxie, but I’m not that bad, am I? I genuinely think they’re a great match, in every way! I’m looking out for my friend!”
Zhao Zi believed Zhuang Qi cared for her friend and didn’t doubt her character. But she also knew she wasn’t without her own little plans.
“Jiang Chuxie’s your friend and business partner. With your flaky family, finding her a backer is like finding one for yourself, right?”
Zhuang Qi choked, unable to retort—having a smart girlfriend was both painful and delightful.
Zhao Zi sighed. “I’m not blaming you. Even if you thought that, as long as you didn’t use dirty tricks, making a good match is fine.”
If Zhuang Qi were a total airhead, Zhao Zi wouldn’t have liked her.
“But someone’s clearly targeting Jiang Chuxie. This needs to be addressed, or it could lead to worse consequences.”
