Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Gu Lingjun wasn’t particularly familiar with this senior named Zhao Gang. She had rejected his repeated invitations several times before, but Zhao Gang showed no signs of giving up and kept coming up with various excuses. The only reason Gu Lingjun came today was to make things clear and firmly reject him once and for all.
But that wasn’t easy. This senior possessed many typical Alpha traits, which made him eloquent and persuasive. She barely had a chance to speak or steer the conversation, only able to passively follow his topics… Honestly, she found it somewhat boring.
However, her upbringing prevented her from showing any signs of boredom. As an Omega, listening seemed like an innate quality she was supposed to have—though it was absurd to call it “innate” when everyone only differentiated after the age of twelve.
“…Lingjun, why aren’t you drinking?” Zhao Gang, the Alpha sitting across from her, asked somewhat impatiently as Gu Lingjun’s mind wandered again. “What’s wrong? Is the coffee here not to your taste? I told you, we should’ve gone to a fancier café. What good coffee can you get at a chain near the school?”
“No, it’s fine. I don’t know much about coffee, and I think this place is pretty good.”
Gu Lingjun gave a gentle, faint smile—a lie. She not only loved coffee but usually drank it black. However, for a delicate, petite Omega, a cappuccino undoubtedly fit the public’s image of her better.
As she spoke, her thoughts unexpectedly drifted to the Alpha employee she had noticed when she entered the café.
Upon stepping into the café, Gu Lingjun had immediately noticed Jiang Chuxie’s presence. They had met briefly on the day she reported to school. Although Jiang Chuxie looked quite different today—merely changing clothes and tying up her hair made her seem like a completely different person—Gu Lingjun recognized her at a glance.
For an Alpha, working at a café was rather unusual. After all, for prideful Alphas with bright futures, such service-oriented jobs were considered somewhat “lowly.” Moreover, Jiang Chuxie had deliberately used suppressants to mask her pheromone scent, which made it even stranger.
On that first day, Zhao Zi had doubted Jiang Chuxie’s claims precisely because she couldn’t detect any pheromone scent. But in fact, Gu Lingjun had noticed it—not only that day but today as well. This Alpha, who used suppressants, carried a rich, bitter fragrance that almost blended seamlessly with the coffee aroma in the shop.
The scent of coffee is incredibly complex, influenced by factors like variety, growing conditions, processing methods, storage, and roasting techniques. It was this intricate and ever-changing aroma that captivated so many people.
Gu Lingjun suspected that her fixation on this Alpha, whom she had only met once, might stem from her love for coffee.
But to others, Jiang Chuxie probably seemed like an ordinary Beta. Despite her striking height and appearance, her behavior, demeanor, and even temperament were unlike a typical Alpha. Not only did she suppress her pheromones, but she also chose to work in a café where her scent could be masked. With such deliberate concealment, few would bother to question her identity.
Her efforts raised a question in Gu Lingjun’s mind: Why would an Alpha go to such lengths to hide themselves?
Was it a psychological gender issue?
Gu Lingjun could understand why an Omega might want to suppress their pheromone scent, given the inconvenience and discrimination it often brought. But most Alphas strongly desired to assert their presence, spreading their pheromones as widely as possible—like wild dogs marking their territory with urine. Their pheromone scents were potent and aggressive.
Oh, she didn’t mean to demean Alphas—it was just the reality.
“I’m glad you like it.”
The Alpha across from her had been displaying clear intentions from the start. Gu Lingjun initially thought her vague responses had made him impatient, but now she sensed he had a more specific goal in mind.
“Aren’t you drinking? Is it not to your taste? How about I order another one? What would you like? I’ll get it for you.”
Gu Lingjun instinctively glanced down at the coffee in her hand, a trace of doubt stirring in her heart.
“No, this one’s fine… Senior, you mentioned there was student council work to discuss. Could you tell me what it’s about?”
The Alpha had been talking for over an hour, but Gu Lingjun hadn’t heard anything substantial. She wasn’t unaware that if she could muster a bit more “courage,” she might have ended this meeting long ago. The problem was, she hadn’t felt what “courage” was in years.
To outsiders, she must seem like a gentle, submissive, obedient, and compliant Omega. Since her differentiation, she had hardly done anything outside this behavioral mold—or rather, she couldn’t bring herself to act beyond this image.
Was she too concerned with others’ opinions? Was her heart too weak?
Gu Lingjun didn’t understand.
She merely lifted the cup of coffee, which seemed slightly off, to her lips.
For a gentle Omega, avoiding embarrassing her companion and going along with his words was necessary, wasn’t it?
Even if she wanted to reject him, she could only… only express it in the most tactful words and actions.
Would that be seen as playing hard to get?
“Miss, did you just come back from the restroom?” Just as Gu Lingjun’s lips were about to touch the rim of the coffee cup, a figure hurriedly rushed to her side and clumsily knocked the coffee out of her hand. “Oh, I’m so sorry, so sorry! Are you okay? Did you get burned?”
“I’m fine, I’m fine.”
Gu Lingjun recognized the person as the Alpha with the coffee-scented pheromones. When she had returned from the restroom, she had clearly felt the other’s gaze and the hesitant struggle in her eyes.
Was this really just an accident?
“I’m so sorry, miss,” the female Alpha apologized frantically, quickly pulling a handkerchief from her pocket and handing it to Gu Lingjun. “Here, wipe yourself off.”
Gu Lingjun frowned slightly, about to take the handkerchief, when Zhao Gang, who had been momentarily stunned by the sudden incident, finally snapped back to reality. He shot to his feet, grabbed Jiang Chuxie’s collar, and roared, “What’s wrong with you, server? Do you even know how to do your job?”
“Senior, I’m fine. Let her go.”
Seeing the female Alpha about to get hit, Gu Lingjun, without knowing where the courage came from, grabbed Zhao Gang’s arm.
“Lingjun, stay out of this. I can tell she did it on purpose. Let me teach her a lesson.”
But an enraged Alpha was highly aggressive and irrational, far beyond what a delicate Omega like Gu Lingjun could stop.
The male Alpha shoved Gu Lingjun aside, raising his fist to strike Jiang Chuxie’s face.
Jiang Chuxie could understand his anger—after all, watching a duck about to be cooked fly away would make anyone furious—but it didn’t excuse his stupidity.
Alphas were praised for their physical strength, quick thinking, and superior intelligence and physique compared to Betas and Omegas. But in Jiang Chuxie’s view, even if Alphas had some physical advantages, their arrogance destroyed most of it.
Her original plan was simply to stop Gu Lingjun from drinking the coffee and explain the situation privately, leaving the decision to call the police to Gu Lingjun.
But now, the male Alpha’s foolish actions had caused a commotion in the café. Jiang Chuxie didn’t want to get hit, nor did she want to let a culprit go. In that split second, she made a swift decision.
Fortunately, she was also an Alpha and had trained in self-defense for six years.
In a flash, the female Alpha, who had been grabbed by the collar, not only dodged the male Alpha’s punch but also executed a clean over-the-shoulder throw.
The tall male Alpha crashed heavily to the ground, and Jiang Chuxie’s glasses fell off her face due to the sudden movement.
As one of the heroine’s mothers, the body Jiang Chuxie had transmigrated into was designed with stunning looks and pheromones highly attractive to Omegas. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to charm Miss Gu and give birth to a heartthrob daughter like Jiang Weizao.
Over the past six years, though Jiang Chuxie had tried to avoid contact with Omegas, her “peach blossom luck” hadn’t been scarce due to various unexpected events. Though it might sound like boasting, she was indeed a “sinfully” attractive woman.
But Jiang Chuxie took no pride in this “heartthrob” quality, knowing it was all due to her character’s design. If possible, she didn’t want this allure at all—wearing glasses was inconvenient, and constantly using suppressants was expensive.
A café server hitting a customer, even in self-defense, was enough to cause a big problem. The onlookers gasped, and Jiang Chuxie’s coworker rushed over, shouting, “Jiang Chuxie, what happened? Oh, how did you—”
Jiang Chuxie bent down to pick up her glasses and put them back on before looking up at the crowd.
“Call the police. I saw something on the surveillance earlier.”
Zhao Gang, dazed from the fall, was pinned down by Jiang Chuxie, who twisted his arms behind his back and firmly pressed him to the ground with one foot.
“He tried to get violent with me, so I had to fight back.”
Jiang Chuxie didn’t want her act of justice to be mistaken for assault. As she spoke, she grabbed a tissue from the table and bent down to retrieve a small bottle of white powder from Zhao Gang’s jacket pocket.
“The surveillance footage gave me reason to suspect this man intended to harm the lady with him.”
