Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Though Jiang Chuxie hadn’t drunk as much as Zhuang Qi tonight, her face was flushed, only cooling slightly in the chilly breeze.
Perhaps because she’d slept well last night, or because today was the day she and Gu Lingjun got their marriage certificate, her mood was the best and lightest it had been in a while.
When she got home, Gu Lingjun had already cleared the table and washed the dishes. As Jiang Chuxie entered, she saw Gu Lingjun holding clean clothes, ready to bathe, and without thinking, opened her arms for a hug.
“You’re back!” Gu Lingjun held the clothes in one arm, hugging her back with the other. “How’s Senior Zhuang? Is she okay?”
Jiang Chuxie nuzzled Gu Lingjun’s soft cheek, her breath tinged with alcohol. “She’s fine. Zhao Zi will take care of her.”
This natural, affectionate gesture delighted Gu Lingjun. She reached up, touching Jiang Chuxie’s cheek, and asked softly, “And you? Are you okay?”
“Mmm~” Jiang Chuxie squinted, savoring the cool, soft touch of Gu Lingjun’s palm. “I’m so happy. Since coming here, I’ve never been this happy.”
“Hm?”
Gu Lingjun was briefly puzzled by “since coming here,” but Jiang Chuxie, looking tipsy with teary eyes, seemed unaware of what she’d said.
She hugged Gu Lingjun tightly, inhaling the fragrance at her neck, nuzzling the skin over her gland like a puppy. “Lingjun, with you by my side, I’m truly happy.”
Gu Lingjun’s joy bubbled into laughter, her soft chest trembling slightly.
She slid one hand to the back of Jiang Chuxie’s neck, gently kneading the vertebrae beneath thin skin, and tilted her head to kiss the corner of Jiang Chuxie’s mouth. “Me too.”
After holding Gu Lingjun for a while, Jiang Chuxie snapped out of her blissful daze. Remembering something in her pocket, she eagerly pulled Gu Lingjun to the living room.
Gu Lingjun didn’t ask what prompted this, following patiently. In the center of the room, Jiang Chuxie let go of her hand and stood before her solemnly.
“Lingjun.”
“Yes, what’s up?”
Jiang Chuxie’s hands trembled as she carefully pulled a small box from her jacket pocket.
Gu Lingjun, ever perceptive, instantly knew what it was, her lips curving into a smile as she watched Jiang Chuxie’s every move.
“Sorry, no proposal, no wedding—just a simple promise to spend our lives together…”
Gu Lingjun extended her hand gracefully. “Doesn’t that apply to you too?”
Jiang Chuxie swallowed, shakily opening the velvet box. Inside were two simple platinum rings, one larger, one smaller, perfectly sized for their left ring fingers.
“Not going to put it on me?”
Jiang Chuxie took a deep breath, picking up the smaller ring. Holding Gu Lingjun’s left hand as if it were a precious treasure, she focused intently, sliding the ring onto her ring finger.
Gu Lingjun smiled softly, taking the remaining ring from the box. “My turn.”
If the certificate was a legal bond, the rings were a vow of love. Jiang Chuxie never thought she’d care about such formalities, but facing her beloved, she realized she wasn’t immune to them.
Her fingers trembled noticeably as she extended her hand, making her a bit embarrassed, while Gu Lingjun remained calm.
“Chuxie, thank you for buying these rings.” Gu Lingjun slid the ring onto Jiang Chuxie’s finger, then lowered her head, kissing her ring finger. “Thank you for meeting me, helping me, responding to me, loving me.”
Jiang Chuxie couldn’t match Gu Lingjun’s intensity. Every time she tried to express her feelings, Gu Lingjun’s fervent response left her moved, ashamed, and overwhelmed.
“Lingjun…”
Tears welled in Jiang Chuxie’s eyes. Gu Lingjun’s brows curved, a playful glint in her eyes.
“Dear Senior, my wonderful wife Miss Jiang, now that we’ve completed all the rituals, would you like to bathe with me?”
In this solemn moment, Miss Gu’s suggestive proposal caught Jiang Chuxie, still lost in emotion, off guard.
“Huh?”
Gu Lingjun stepped closer, holding Jiang Chuxie’s hand and pointing to the clothes she’d set on the sofa to put on the ring. “See, I was about to bathe.”
Jiang Chuxie’s breathing grew heavier. “Then, uh, go bathe…”
The bathroom held special meaning for her. She wasn’t sure if Gu Lingjun understood.
“But it’s lonely bathing alone. If you join me, we’d save time and water… Most importantly, I’m pregnant. Aren’t you worried? What if I slip?”
Gu Lingjun’s sparkling eyes and irrefutable words left Jiang Chuxie speechless.
Her gaze and tone told Jiang Chuxie she knew the bathroom’s significance.
Since moving in together, Gu Lingjun’s every advance was calculated and cautious, gradually easing Jiang Chuxie’s triggers during their growing intimacy.
Looking back, Gu Lingjun’s desensitization was masterful, so subtle Jiang Chuxie only now realized its success.
At this thought, Jiang Chuxie took deep breaths, finally resolute. “Wait for me. I’ll grab my clothes.”
They were true partners now, legally and emotionally. Why refuse such a charming invitation?
No reason at all.
Gu Lingjun’s eyes lit up. “Hurry, then! I’ll turn on the heater and water.”
Jiang Chuxie watched her lively little wife head to the bathroom, then went to her room for clothes.
The photo she’d printed last night was already with someone for investigation, and she’d complained to property management about the salesman. For now, the challenge of school starting loomed larger.
Classes began tomorrow, and with different colleges and overlapping schedules, she couldn’t stay by Gu Lingjun’s side constantly. Hiring a bodyguard might work, but to Gu Lingjun, it’d seem overblown.
She recalled how Gu Lingjun resisted the two bodyguards Gu Lian hired. Her request to avoid going out alone was also shot down.
Stopping Gu Lingjun from acting independently was impossible—it’d be like restricting her freedom.
Jiang Chuxie shook her head, pushing these thoughts aside. At least now, with Lingjun, she shouldn’t dwell on worries.
Thinking of Gu Lingjun waiting in the bathroom, Jiang Chuxie smiled again.
Nothing romantic happened in the bathroom—though for Jiang Chuxie, being bare together was romantic enough. They bathed in a perfectly ordinary way.
Gu Lingjun was at ease, unbothered by Jiang Chuxie seeing her and openly admiring her. Likely out of consideration, she didn’t touch Jiang Chuxie’s body.
After initial awkwardness, Jiang Chuxie relaxed, and feeling Gu Lingjun’s thoughtfulness, offered to scrub her back.
It was a strange sensation. As the closest of partners, having done the most intimate things and legally bound, they seemed to rediscover each other from a new angle.
If she had to describe it, it was the feeling of home and warmth.
To Jiang Chuxie, Gu Lingjun was not just a lover but her only family, her only soulmate.
“Chuxie?”
After bathing, Gu Lingjun didn’t ask Jiang Chuxie to stay, and Jiang Chuxie casually returned to her room. Gu Lingjun, both amused and exasperated, wondered if she’d need to resort to a night raid when Jiang Chuxie knocked, holding a pillow.
She seemed nervous, but the pillow hid half her face, masking it well.
“Your pillow’s small. For two, mine’s better.”
Gu Lingjun stepped aside to let her in. “No work tonight?”
“Zhuang Qi said I should take a honeymoon. Too bad school starts tomorrow, but tonight, let’s have our own world.”
The clueless blockhead had truly warmed up, and Gu Lingjun felt a mix of joy and pride.
“Just tonight?” She closed the door, following Jiang Chuxie with her hands behind her back, teasing meaningfully. “You seem attached to your room and bed. Are they more appealing than your wife?”
“No way,” Jiang Chuxie caught the jest, pulling her into a hug with a laugh. “Not just tonight—tomorrow, the next night, every night, I’ll be with you. Forget that room and bed—nothing in this world is more appealing than you.”
Gu Lingjun’s eyes widened, staring at Jiang Chuxie in disbelief.
Though Jiang Chuxie had opened up and said sweet things, this was the first time she’d been so extravagantly romantic.
She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t thrilled, but such sappy words from someone usually reserved and shy were overwhelmingly potent!
“Chuxie, you—” She instinctively touched Jiang Chuxie’s forehead, amazed. “You’re not feverish!”
Jiang Chuxie sat on the bed, playfully swatting her backside. “What, I only say nice things when I’m sick?”
Gu Lingjun wiggled, giggling behind her hand. “It’s just rare.”
Jiang Chuxie pulled her onto the bed. “I’ll say them more, then.”
Gu Lingjun pounced on her, overwhelmed. “Am I really this happy? It’s weird, almost scary! I won’t face something bad later, will I—mmph—”
Jiang Chuxie, hating such hypotheticals, kissed her lips with a hint of dominance. No one deserved happiness more than Gu Lingjun—that had to happen.
“Lingjun, help me like last night, okay?”
