Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
As soon as her colleague saw the suspicious bottle of drugs she pulled out, they immediately turned to the service counter to call the police. The male Alpha, who had been knocked to the ground, realized things were going south and struggled to resist. Unfortunately, he was skillfully pinned down by Jiang Chuxie, who was also an Alpha, and couldn’t move at all.
“You bastard, let me go! That’s not mine! You’re framing me! You think I won’t sue you? You’re just a Beta, and you dare attack an Alpha!”
“By your logic, isn’t an Alpha who can’t even beat a Beta more pathetic?” Jiang Chuxie sneered, pressing harder with her foot. “Behave yourself. Whether I’m framing you or not, we’ll find out when the police get here. The surveillance won’t lie, the fingerprints on the bottle won’t lie, and the drug test results won’t lie. Let me think—how many years do you get for attempting to drug an Omega?”
Omegas are even rarer than Alphas, so the country punishes such crimes harshly. Sadly, because the marking mechanism between Alphas and Omegas is irreversible, most prosecuted cases are either attempted crimes or involve Betas as the accused.
“You—”
Zhao Gang was finally starting to panic. If convicted, it wouldn’t just be his future ruined.
“Lingjun, Lingjun, don’t listen to her nonsense! This drug isn’t mine, I didn’t plan to do anything to you. Trust me, don’t call the police!”
Jiang Chuxie frowned, looking at Gu Lingjun.
The Omega seemed shaken, her wide almond eyes brimming with tears, staring at Jiang Chuxie with fear and unease.
With both witnesses and evidence in place, the only variable was whether this girl would choose to press charges.
It’s laughable, really. Despite the severity of penalties for criminal cases, the conditions for prosecution follow civil law. So, even with overwhelming evidence, very few cases actually go to trial.
This was exactly why Jiang Chuxie had initially planned to pull the Omega aside to explain the situation privately instead of directly exposing the Alpha’s crime.
If this had happened to her, she would’ve called the police without hesitation. But even in her “previous life,” many girls would choose to avoid trouble out of fear of retaliation.
This was an ABO world, after all. Omegas, as victims, were more likely to face criticism. Plus, these two might not be lovers, but they were at least friends… or perhaps a senior and junior. The Omega might, for various reasons, decide not to pursue the attempted crime.
Jiang Chuxie couldn’t ignore such a thing out of her sense of morality, but she also didn’t want to morally pressure this Omega into doing what she thought was right, like calling the police or pressing charges.
But when the male Alpha, in a fit of humiliated rage, tried to attack her, Jiang Chuxie changed her mind.
First, she didn’t want to get beaten up. But as a store employee fighting back against a customer, she’d need a solid reason to avoid causing trouble for herself and the shop. Second, she realized her earlier thinking had been too considerate of the Omega—especially unnecessary if this Omega was likely Gu Lingjun.
She had no intention of leaving a good impression on Gu Lingjun, so there was no need to be so thoughtful. “Doing the right thing” was her business. She wanted to stop a crime happening in front of her, not to please the victim.
As for what this Omega might think or whether she’d feel embarrassed by this, that wasn’t Jiang Chuxie’s concern—just as she didn’t expect any reward for her actions.
“Pardon my bluntness, but may I ask what your relationship is with this man?” Jiang Chuxie looked at the clearly frightened, dazed Omega and spoke slowly. “I originally wanted to confirm with you privately, but as you saw, this man attacked me. I’m not sure if, in your view, my actions were unnecessary.”
Jiang Chuxie framed her actions as completely justified and righteous, deliberately putting pressure on the Omega by passing the ball to her. Though she was acting out of justice, her attitude wasn’t exactly comforting.
The Omega’s expression was fragile, her teary eyes shifting between Jiang Chuxie and the male Alpha. After a long pause, she said with a trembling voice, “We… we’re just friends… no, I’m not sure if we’re even friends. He… he’s my senior… he said there was student council business to discuss and asked me to meet here…”
With such a commotion in the shop, the three of them were naturally the center of attention. The male Alpha’s pathetic state was obvious, and the Omega looked pitiful, making Jiang Chuxie seem a bit like a bully.
Though she didn’t want to get involved with Gu Lingjun, Jiang Chuxie wasn’t cold-hearted. Plus, this girl had a huge impact on her. Seeing her look so pitiful and weak, Jiang Chuxie couldn’t help feeling a pang of sourness and sympathy.
No, no, no—this was just her hormones acting up, some mysterious force at play!
“I understand. No matter why you met him here, it’s not an excuse for him to commit a crime against you. You did nothing wrong in this, and you don’t need to explain yourself to me or anyone else. Just tell me, did you know about his actions? If this drug is proven harmful, would you forgive him?”
The Omega’s face was pale, her lips bitten as if deep in thought. After a long moment, she made up her mind and said, “If… my senior really committed a crime, I… I’ll cooperate with the police investigation.”
The frail Omega looked like a snow orchid battered by wind and rain, stirring pity in anyone who saw her. Jiang Chuxie couldn’t bear to look too long and steeled herself, saying, “In that case, please come with me to wait for the police.”
Not long after the staff reported the incident, four police officers arrived. Zhao Gang, who had been loud and struggling to escape, instantly deflated when he saw them, like a wilted eggplant.
One female Beta officer stayed with the Omega, while the other three began collecting evidence. Jiang Chuxie took them to the surveillance room to get the footage. When she returned, she overheard the female Beta comforting the Omega.
“Miss Gu, don’t worry. We’ll investigate thoroughly.”
If Jiang Chuxie had held onto a sliver of hope before, now she could no longer escape reality. Surnamed Gu, named Lingjun—who else could this be but her destined partner, the tragic heroine’s tragic mother?
A scummy Alpha and a weak Omega—why did the author give them such couple-like names?
Jiang Chuxie’s mood soured instantly. Part of her wanted to ditch everything and bolt, but she couldn’t stop glancing at Gu Lingjun.
Even her crying was so beautiful—eyes like autumn water, tears like pearls. Was this what they meant by “a beauty crying like pear blossoms in the rain”?
Objectively speaking, Jiang Chuxie had never seen anyone cry so beautifully in either of her lives. The tragic heroine’s mother was truly something else.
The police were efficient. While Jiang Chuxie was feeling uneasy and lost in thought, they finished questioning and gathering evidence and prepared to take the suspect away.
“The coffee, drugs, and footage need to be taken back to the station for investigation. You two, please come with us to give statements and register your information.”
Jiang Chuxie had expected this and cooperated fully. “No problem, but please let me change out of my work uniform first.”
The police granted her request. While changing, Jiang Chuxie gave her colleague a few instructions.
“Sister Liu will be here soon. You should wait for her and talk to Brother Zhang before deciding anything. The guy’s an Alpha—you might be at a disadvantage.”
This colleague had worked with Jiang Chuxie for nearly a year but, being a Beta, wasn’t very sensitive to pheromones. Since Jiang Chuxie had always hidden it, they still didn’t know she was an Alpha.
“It’s fine. The police look at evidence, not gender. When Sister Liu arrives, please ask for a leave on my behalf. I’ll explain everything to her when I’m back. Sorry for causing trouble for the shop, and thanks for your help.”
This wasn’t entirely true or false. Most frontline police were Betas and wouldn’t overtly favor Alphas in normal cases. But if Zhao Gang had connections with higher-ups, things could get tricky.
Liu Wen’s husband, Zhang Luping, worked at the police station, but Jiang Chuxie didn’t plan to openly ask for his help. Since this happened at Liu Wen’s shop, any assistance could be seen as favoritism.
When Gu Lingjun got into the police car, she was still dazed. The female Beta officer, seeing her blank expression, thought she was scared and asked softly, “Miss Gu, are you okay?”
Gu Lingjun, sitting in the back, slowly looked up at the officer. After a moment, she gave a grateful smile. “I’m fine. Thank you.”
The officer, not new to such cases, saw her pale face and felt sympathy. “Don’t be nervous. At the station, we’ll just ask routine questions… and this isn’t your fault.”
Gu Lingjun knew the officer had misunderstood but didn’t explain, only nodding silently.
In truth, she wasn’t scared now, nor had she been too shaken earlier. To others, she probably looked terrified.
Gu Lingjun had indeed been a bit stunned during the incident—half due to her body’s instinctive reaction, half because she saw Jiang Chuxie’s face.
From the moment Jiang Chuxie’s glasses fell off to when she picked them up and put them back on, only a few seconds passed. Jiang Chuxie kept her head down, subtly hiding her face. But Gu Lingjun, being the closest, still saw her clearly—saw the eyes usually hidden behind those thick, old-fashioned frames.
