Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 87
Chapter 87
“Chuxie, are you sure you’ll be okay going alone?”
Zhuang Qi drove Jiang Chuxie to the hospital, seeing her finally show some spirit but worrying this meeting might hurt her again.
She was there when Gu Lingjun called, and just hearing her voice made Jiang Chuxie light up.
“It’s fine, I can go by myself.”
Jiang Chuxie got out of the car eagerly. Gu Lingjun had planned to visit her at a suitable time, but Jiang Chuxie couldn’t wait and rushed to the hospital. Zhuang Qi, concerned about her mental state for driving, took the wheel.
“I’ll wait here for you.”
“Okay!”
Gu Lingjun’s call had rekindled Jiang Chuxie’s hope, and she didn’t want to wait a moment longer to see her.
Half an hour before the agreed time, Gu Lingjun noticed her parents growing anxious. Her request to meet Jiang Chuxie alone had initially been opposed. Though Mu Qing and Gu Lian liked Jiang Chuxie and felt some pity, they feared her daughter’s stubbornness might push Jiang Chuxie to do something extreme.
After all, Jiang Chuxie’s possessiveness and protectiveness toward Gu Lingjun had been intense.
Compared to her parents’ worries, Gu Lingjun’s feelings were more complex. She heard the joy in Jiang Chuxie’s voice on the phone and learned from Zhao Zi, via Zhuang Qi’s complaints, how bad her recent state had been. But she wasn’t meeting Chuxie today to take back her decision. If this gave Chuxie false hope, she was truly guilty.
“Lingjun!”
Jiang Chuxie arrived earlier than expected. Hearing her voice, Gu Lingjun fought the urge to turn around, taking deep breaths to steel herself.
Gu Lian and Mu Qing stood up. Jiang Chuxie, noticing them, tempered her anxious excitement with a forced smile.
“Mom, Dad, you’re here too?”
“We have something to do and will leave soon. Talk with Lingjun,” Gu Lian said, glancing at Gu Lingjun standing by the window with her back to them, her tone helpless. “We’re staying out of your business, but… whatever happens, talk it out calmly. Lingjun’s pregnant, so be patient and speak gently.”
Jiang Chuxie understood, and seeing Gu Lingjun’s demeanor, the small spark of hope in her heart began to fade.
“I understand…”
Gu Lian shook her head with a worried expression, pulling Mu Qing out and thoughtfully closing the door. Two bodyguards stood like towers by the door, and the room fell into a brief silence.
“Lingjun…”
“I’m sorry,” they spoke at the same time, but Gu Lingjun’s voice was faster and firmer. “Chuxie, did you chase the lawyer away because you were unhappy with the agreement? I’ve reflected, and we should sit down and discuss this face-to-face. If you’re dissatisfied with anything, tell me, and I’ll try to meet your needs.”
After her words, the room sank into silence again. Gu Lingjun instinctively held her breath, hearing only her heartbeat.
She wanted to turn and look at Jiang Chuxie but was too afraid to move. Then she heard footsteps.
“Is that why you called me here today? To talk about the divorce agreement?”
A strong hand grabbed Gu Lingjun’s arm, turning her around. The force was so sudden and strong that she let out a soft hum. But before she could register the physical pain, Jiang Chuxie’s angry, hurt expression made her heart ache.
“Why? I don’t understand. If you know everything, why do you still want to leave me? I’m not that Jiang Chuxie anymore—I won’t hurt you!”
After regaining her ability to think, Jiang Chuxie had pondered a lot. From Gu Lingjun’s vague words, she deduced two things: Gu Lingjun knew she wasn’t the original Jiang Chuxie and knew what the original would do. If Jiang Chuxie could transmigrate into this book, maybe Gu Lingjun had been replaced too.
That would explain why Gu Lingjun understood her and why she fell for her. If they were both outsiders in this world, they shouldn’t be apart!
She was willing to forgive Gu Lingjun’s secrecy, as she’d never shared her own truth. She wouldn’t blame Gu Lingjun for approaching her deliberately, as she was genuinely drawn to her.
If that was true, they were even more meant to be. Why, then, must they part?
Jiang Chuxie didn’t understand!
Gu Lingjun gripped Jiang Chuxie’s wrist—the arm still scarred from protecting her. Though treated in the hospital, Jiang Chuxie clearly hadn’t cared for it these past two weeks, as bruises remained.
“Does your hand still hurt?”
“Why change the subject? The injury doesn’t matter! I just want to know why you’re doing this! Do you not like me? I don’t believe it! If you don’t like me, how could you treat me like you did before? I don’t believe it was all acting and lies!”
Gu Lingjun gave a bitter smile. “If you already have the answer in your heart, why ask me? This isn’t about whether I like you… I just want to give us both the chance to choose again, free from any interference.”
Jiang Chuxie falling for her was inevitable, but that inevitability was unfair to her.
“I don’t understand! What do you mean, choose again? What interference…”
Gu Lingjun sighed softly. “Then let me tell you a story…”
Revealing the truth to Jiang Chuxie wasn’t easy. It meant admitting her own despicable actions, exposing the world’s cruelty, and shattering the love Jiang Chuxie had built.
“…The moment I died again, I finally understood something. Changing my fate alone was too hard, too exhausting. Cycle after cycle drained all my energy, and I nearly gave up. But then, I saw a different dream—a world similar to this one but different, the one you described, more equal and beautiful.”
Jiang Chuxie listened in a daze. Gu Lingjun’s truth was far more complex and unimaginable than she’d thought.
“I saw that world through many people’s eyes. Then one day, I found you. Same name, but completely different—upright, kind, a bit stubborn, too hard on yourself, always helping others. I so wished you could become her… and you did, because of my wish.”
“Your wish?”
Jiang Chuxie asked blankly, her mind flashing to when her friend introduced her to ‘Too Early for Fashion’, her first encounter with an ABO erotic novel, meant to relieve her stress.
“Yes, when that voice asked if I wanted to try again, I made a wish.” Gu Lingjun gently removed Jiang Chuxie’s stiff hand from her arm, sighing. “Without me, you wouldn’t have come to this world. Without me, you wouldn’t have died suddenly, leaving your family and friends. Without me, you wouldn’t have suffered this world’s pain… Without me, you wouldn’t have lost yourself. Chuxie, didn’t you feel something strange when we first met?”
Jiang Chuxie’s brows furrowed, her breathing quick, her mind flooded with those absurd, exaggerated praises.
“I had to ensure you’d fall for me, that we’d be together, that you’d give everything for me.” Gu Lingjun’s voice was still melodious, each word slow and distant, but it sent chills through Jiang Chuxie. “From start to finish, I was just using you. The love you think you feel might not even be yours. Even so, do you still want to be with me?”
Jiang Chuxie’s ears buzzed. Gu Lingjun’s calm, cruel expression, gaze, and tone left her unable to respond.
“Chuxie, I know my mistakes can’t be undone, and you deserve any compensation. But I haven’t inherited all of the Gu family’s assets yet, so—”
“Why are you telling me this?” Jiang Chuxie cut her off. The complexity overwhelmed her mind, but instinct made her seize the key point. “If you’ve been deceiving me from the start, if you wanted my total devotion, why tell me now?”
Gu Lingjun pressed her lips tightly together.
“Tell me, why did you change your mind and reveal this? Your crisis isn’t over—you still need me. Why tell me the truth? Why push me away?”
Gu Lingjun’s throat moved slightly, her lips parting as if to speak, but no words came.
Jiang Chuxie’s eyes reddened as she looked at her, voice breaking. “Why won’t you say? What if I say, even knowing this, I’m still willing to be with you?”
“I’m not worth it…”
“It’s not for you to decide—I know my own heart!” Jiang Chuxie hugged her tightly, kissing her lips, her voice trembling and muffled. “Where will you go after we part? If I’m your chance for success, why not hold onto me tighter? You know if you just say what I want to hear, I’d let everything go…”
“I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want to hear sorry! You brought me to this world—why not take responsibility to the end?”
“Chuxie, forget me. Do what you love. With you here, this world will get better. I can’t send you back to your old world, but I believe you can find happiness here.”
Gu Lingjun’s tone was firm, and Jiang Chuxie knew she couldn’t change her mind.
“I hate you…”
“It’s okay,” Gu Lingjun gently stroked Jiang Chuxie’s smooth hair—she’d bathed and cleaned up to see her. “Chuxie, it’s okay…”
She’d try to live on. If she failed again… this time, she’d let the world continue, because she believed, even if her fate couldn’t change, Jiang Chuxie would bring something to this world.
