Dressed as the Scumbag Alpha Mom of the Tragic Female Lead (ABO, GL) - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Jiang Chuxie’s mind was a chaotic mess, but her feet kept moving outward. Gu Lingjun, clearly struggling to keep up, said anxiously, “Wait, um, could you… could you give me your contact information? I’d like to thank you later…”
Jiang Chuxie wrestled with herself inwardly, but her expression remained unmoved.
“I said it’s not necessary.”
No matter how reluctant she felt, thinking of the book’s ending for the two of them steeled her resolve. She didn’t want to harm anyone, least of all herself. Even if she wasn’t the original Jiang Chuxie, she was certain that the mysterious force pushing her toward the plot of this adult novel had no good intentions.
By normal logic, it must be a force trying to correct the world’s timeline. So, the best she could do was deviate as far as possible from the original story! She absolutely couldn’t entertain any wishful thinking. The premise of overcoming fate was not tempting it.
“But…”
Gu Lingjun’s desire wasn’t just to thank Jiang Chuxie. To be blunt, she wanted to understand Jiang Chuxie as a person and figure out why she could overcome her Omega instincts and feel “courage” in her presence.
She felt, without reason, that Jiang Chuxie held significant meaning for her. Her distinct behavior compared to other Alphas, her potent yet non-aggressive pheromones, and her striking appearance gave Jiang Chuxie an indescribable mystique that deeply attracted Gu Lingjun.
This was the first time since her differentiation that she actively wanted to get close to an Alpha, the first time she didn’t feel an Omega’s instinctive wariness toward an Alpha, and the first time she truly did what she wanted.
Gu Lingjun knew her persistent behavior might annoy Jiang Chuxie, especially since Jiang Chuxie had clearly expressed her aloofness. But being around Jiang Chuxie was the best she’d felt in six years, and she wanted to understand why.
Jiang Chuxie strode toward the exit. As an Alpha, her height and stamina far surpassed an Omega’s, and she soon pulled ahead of Gu Lingjun.
Just as she was about to leave the police station, two approaching figures made her hesitate.
A middle-aged male Alpha and a young female Beta—she recognized one of them. The male Alpha was the dean of the Life Sciences Institute.
Though Jiang Chuxie studied computer science, she was interested in this ABO world’s life sciences and occasionally audited large classes at the institute.
After attending so many, she had little regard for this Alpha dean. In short, he was an Alpha supremacist, the kind who, in her previous life, would’ve been a blatant racist.
Clearly, he was here to deal with Gu Lingjun’s situation.
“Dean Xu… Teacher Xu…”
The two didn’t know Jiang Chuxie and passed her to approach Gu Lingjun. Jiang Chuxie heard Gu Lingjun’s timid voice behind her, followed by Dean Xu’s roar.
“What’s going on? How did this end up at the police station? Where’s Zhao Gang? Where is he?”
“Dean, please calm down. Let’s hear what Lingjun has to say first,” the counselor surnamed Xu advised gently. “She must be shaken. Lingjun, are you okay?”
“Hmph, shaken? Zhao Gang is her senior. What could he do to her? Making a fuss over nothing and dragging it to the police station, just embarrassing the school and the institute. Go tell the police it’s all a misunderstanding and get Zhao Gang released.”
Gu Lingjun lowered her head, her voice faint. “The police said they’ll detain him until the drug test results come back…”
“Detain? Drug test? What are you trying to do, huh?” Dean Xu’s furious voice echoed through the entire first floor. “Zhao Gang’s paper is about to be published in a special issue. Are you trying to ruin his future? Drug test or not, aren’t you fine?”
“Dean…”
The counselor tried to intervene, but Dean Xu was clearly beyond listening.
“Shut up. What a mess, always causing trouble for the school.” Dean Xu reached to grab Gu Lingjun. “You’re coming with me to tell the police to let Zhao Gang go.”
Gu Lingjun instinctively stepped back, but the Alpha’s presence still made her uneasy. Faced with the dean’s aggression, all her rebuttals stuck in her throat, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
Was she scared? Maybe. Though her mind wasn’t in turmoil, her body reacted first.
“Dean Xu, is it?”
Just as Dean Xu was about to touch Gu Lingjun, a hand shot out, firmly grabbing his wrist.
Jiang Chuxie had turned back at some point, standing in front of Gu Lingjun.
“Who are you?”
Dean Xu glared at this unknown female Beta. “I’m talking to my student. Who are you to interfere? Let go… You’re an Alpha?”
He tried to break free, but found her strength far beyond that of an untrained Beta.
Jiang Chuxie released his wrist as he demanded. “I witnessed your student’s crime, and I called the police. If you have questions, you can ask me.”
If the dean knew about Gu Lingjun’s family background, even with his Alpha supremacist views, he wouldn’t be acting this way. Clearly, he not only didn’t know her status but also had an unusual interest in Zhao Gang.
Jiang Chuxie guessed Zhao Gang was likely his personal student, maybe even a relative.
Dean Xu stared at her face. “Hah, crime? What crime? Even if Zhao Gang did try to drug her, how do you know it wasn’t their way of bonding? One’s an Alpha, one’s an Omega. You don’t think they’re just friends meeting for a casual coffee, do you?”
If Zhao Gang’s actions made Jiang Chuxie angry, Dean Xu’s words truly enraged her. Such attitudes were common in this world, but that a highly educated, high-ranking professor could treat such warped views as normal filled Jiang Chuxie with despair.
“I… I’m just his junior. He said there was student council business to discuss, so I—” Gu Lingjun, clearly not wanting to be misunderstood, tried to explain, but Dean Xu cut her off harshly.
“Discuss work? Do that at the student council. As an Omega, accepting an Alpha’s date invitation means you should be prepared for what might happen. What’s wrong with Zhao Gang? He has a bright future. What’s bad about being with him? Making a scene at the police station to embarrass everyone!”
“Hah, who’s the one embarrassing themselves? Zhao Gang, who used dirty tricks to drug an Omega and take advantage of her, or you, Dean Xu, who raised such a student and now insults the victim in a police station without regard for right or wrong?”
“You—”
Jiang Chuxie sensed Gu Lingjun’s tension behind her and stepped forward, forcing Dean Xu back.
“With what you just said, I could report you to the school for shielding a student’s crime and discriminating against Omegas.”
Perhaps to justify the heroine Jiang Weizao’s rebellion and the eventual one-Omega-six-Alpha ending, the Omega rights movement in the story’s timeline had been ongoing for over thirty years, significantly improving Omegas’ status and increasing penalties for violations against them.
Now, in the early stages of the Omega rights movement, the country had recently passed anti-discrimination and vulnerable group protection laws. Such accusations at this sensitive time could jeopardize Dean Xu’s career.
“Both are your students. If you can’t even be fair, that’s a serious breach of ethics.”
Dean Xu’s forehead veins bulged with anger, but he was left speechless. He noticed the staff’s gazes around him, his face shifting between pale and flushed.
Gu Lingjun still looked scared but mustered the courage to speak. “Dean Xu, I saw the surveillance and have my own judgment. The police will handle it fairly. I’d like to wait for the drug test results…”
Dean Xu glanced at her, then at Jiang Chuxie, and snorted coldly. “We’ll see about that.”
He stormed past them, and though the counselor wanted to say something to Gu Lingjun, he was forcefully called away.
Jiang Chuxie appeared calm, but inside, she was furious. Gu Lingjun’s response, however, impressed her again—how was the heroine’s personality like her mother’s? Gu Lingjun was far more adorable.
“Miss Jiang, thank you.”
Gu Lingjun thanked her again. Looking at her red-rimmed eyes and delicate face, Jiang Chuxie sighed helplessly. “I suggest you call your family. This Dean Xu… you’re his student; you know what he’s like. Better safe than sorry—sometimes evidence can grow wings.”
As a dean, he might resort to even dirtier tactics to protect Zhao Gang. For now, Gu Lingjun should use her family’s influence to avoid bigger losses.
Gu Lingjun, now slightly calmer, said gratefully, “I already called. Thank you so much. Could you give me your contact information? This matter… I might need to trouble you later.”
Jiang Chuxie hesitated, looking at Gu Lingjun’s expectant face. After much internal struggle, she nodded.
If you’re going to help, see it through. She’d beaten the guy, called the police, and now couldn’t just walk away. At worst, she’d disappear afterward and cut ties with Gu Lingjun.
“Fine, I’ll give you my phone number.”
