- Episode 64 - Bocchi and the Results of the Seat Change
Too frustrating… It’s just too frustrating.
And on top of that, it’s the absolute worst.
No way, right?
Why did it turn out like this?
Why, why, out of all possible outcomes, did it have to be the most awful and cruel arrangement imaginable…?
Yes. The result of the seat change…
My seat—Kento Mamiya’s seat—ended up being…
One seat to the right of the back corner by the window that I had been aiming for…
At first glance, well, it’s still near the edge of the classroom. It might not seem that bad.
But that’s completely wrong.
Yeah. The environment around me is just way too awful.
The reason I was aiming for that back corner window seat in the first place—
It’s because, first of all, it’s the least noticeable spot in the entire classroom when sitting alone.
And with the left side being against the wall, sitting there would’ve drastically reduced the chances of people gathering around me.
Basically, that seat was the perfect spot for me to quietly live out my school life as a loner. That’s why I had my eyes set on it this time too.
But when I opened the lid, what was inside was…
No, seriously, what is this…?
First, to my left…
In other words, the person now sitting in the back corner window seat that I was aiming for is…
“Fufu, you’re Mamiya-kun, right? Nice to meet you.”
“Uh… Yeah. Nice to meet you too…”
Of all people… it’s the transfer student, Hani.
To make matters worse, she’s already remembered my name, and as if it’s the most natural thing in the world, she’s casually talking to me—this obviously gloomy loner—with her mature, friendly smile.
From the looks of it, despite being from another country and today being her first day at a new school, she carries herself with modest confidence. She already blends into this classroom better than I do…
Yeah. And without a doubt, by the next break at the latest—though I don’t even want to think about it—tons of people will gather around her. Probably from the entire school…
And next, to my right…
“Mamiya-kun. Fufu, we’re seat neighbors. Looking forward to it.”
“Uh… yeah. Looking forward to it…”
Yamamoto-san. That’s right—the class idol, Saya Yamamoto, is sitting to my right…
I don’t have a problem with her as a person, and of course, I don’t dislike her, but there’s no doubt that people will constantly be gathering around her, too…
Also, for some reason, it feels like the space between our seats is a little closer than usual…
And finally, the seat in front of me.
This is honestly the worst part.
“Oh, Saya! Our seats are super close, huh? Woo! Hey, Hani-san, nice to meet you! If you ever need anything, just let me know!”
Yeah. Of all people, Sakaki ended up in front of me.
He’s an absolute pain, but he’s also one of the class’s central figures. The worst kinds of people always gather around him… and even now, he’s looking at me like I’m in the way…
In short…
As someone who values a quiet school life, I’ve somehow ended up at the absolute worst possible spot—right in the center of a triangle that will completely shatter that wish in an instant…
This is the worst. The absolute worst.
For now, at least, the seat in front of Yamamoto-san—my right diagonal front—is occupied by her friend, Sakura-san, so she’s harmless.
And the only small relief is that the seat in front of Hani-san, meaning my left diagonal front, belongs to Tanaka-kun. But since he’s going to be absent for a while, it’s currently empty.
Yeah. And because of that empty seat, even more people are going to gather around here…
This is truly the worst.
At the very least, I beg you, Tanaka-kun…
Please, just hurry—hurry back as soon as possible…
In every possible way, I need you to come back.
I’m begging you…
Otherwise, my life points are already…
What’s going to happen to my school life…?
Ah, it’s over…
So this is checkmate…
