- Episode 66 - The Loner, Reunited
Ah, but really, what is going on? The new seating arrangement after the seat change…
I can’t help but sigh when I think that I’ll have to spend time in that seat until at least the end of the first semester.
While thinking about such things, I somehow managed to finish school today, and now I’m on my way home.
However, after the end-of-day bell, an irregular event occurred where I was called to the staff room for some reason. Since I also have a part-time job today, I’m walking even faster than usual.
I was walking quickly, but…
What is that? I feel like I see a familiar face standing by the entrance of the station.
It’s a little far away, but…
I’m sure… the girl I see now, is the foreign girl who dropped her wallet back then… right?
Huh? But, she’s wearing our school uniform?
Was she not here on a trip at that time?
Could she be a transfer student? Or, is it that she’s been at this school all along, and I just didn’t know?
But, what’s going on?
The girl who is still in my view looks like she’s standing there with a really annoyed expression, as if she’s been made to stand in that spot.
What on earth is she doing?
Is she waiting for someone? Or, perhaps she’s being made to stand guard for some unknown reason?
“……”
But, as I thought before, she’s just a really pretty or cute girl, and the fact that she’s standing alone in front of the station right now makes her stand out a lot.
In fact, some flashy guy is even trying to talk to her…
“…..”
But, what’s going on? She looks like she’s tilting her head in confusion, speaking Korean in response to their Japanese? And the guys, unable to understand her, just give up on flirting and go inside the station…
“……”
Huh? Didn’t she speak Japanese last time?
Well, whatever.
Anyway, while thinking about such things, I’ve already arrived at the station and try to quietly pass by her.
“Eh?”
Suddenly, I feel someone grab my hand.
“Eh, you’re the glasses guy from that time, right!”
Yes. The girl I was just looking at now has somehow grabbed my hand.
And glasses guy… Well, yeah, I guess I am the glasses guy. Can’t deny that.
“Wow, I can’t believe the glasses guy is from this school too! Do you remember me? I’m Yujin, the girl whose wallet you helped with!”
Ah, of course. I remember her. Actually, I thought she wouldn’t remember me, which is why I was about to pass by, but I never expected her to remember me.
And, unlike before, she’s speaking normal Japanese now…
“What grade are you in?”
“Ah, second year…”
“Then you’re a senpai!”
“Oh, what’s your name?”
“Uhh, it’s Mamiya…”
“Hehe, you actually introduced yourself.”
Ah, right. Oh no, that embarrassing moment from before suddenly flashes back to me.
I quickly shut down my emotions, forcing myself to shut them off for the time being.
But, what’s going on? She looks so much more friendly now compared to the annoyed look from before… And, I see. She’s a first-year student.
To remember my face like that shows quite the memory, and her communication skills are impressive too.
“Ah, by the way, I want to thank you for back then! Since we’re here, how about we eat some donuts together?”
She says this while pointing at the Mister Donut store nearby. Her expression feels like she’s found a fun way to kill time, as if she’s trying to make the most of a boring moment.
“Uhm, sorry, I’m in a hurry because I have a part-time job.”
Yeah, I’m actually in such a rush that if I miss the next train, it’ll be a big problem.
Unfortunately, I can’t do it, and I definitely can’t go into that Mister Donut alone.
“Eh, where do you work?”
“Ah, at a place called Dokumanaru.”
Yeah, the popular hamburger chain.
“Oh, where is it? Where is it?”
And, what’s going on? I’ve been thinking this for a while, but she’s really close. She’s pushing forward with the conversation.
“Uh, it’s near the play station.”
“Eh, huh, never heard of that station.”
I ended up answering, but, well, it’s fine. I’m sure she doesn’t really care about the details. She probably doesn’t know this area anyway, so even if she hears about my part-time job, she likely has no real interest.
For her, it’s just a random conversation to kill time.
“Well then, I’ll be going for now.”
“Okay! Good luck with your part-time job!”
With those words, I part ways with her and head toward the ticket gate.
But, what’s going on…?
What a surprising reunion.
Wait, come to think of it, I remember hearing rumors that a foreign exchange student joined a lower grade along with Hani-sama…
And Korean…
So, could she also be a pretty well-known person…?
Well, it doesn’t really matter to me, so whatever.
For now, I need to hurry.
If I don’t run, I’ll miss my train.
No, this is bad. I’ve really taken too long.
I’m in trouble. I’m in big trouble.
