- Episode 60 - There's a date before Christmas too
I love anime.
Well, I enjoy all kinds of entertainment, but anime holds a special place in my heart.
The way the characters move so fluidly, as if the world they inhabit is real—like they’re truly alive. The way voice actors breathe soul into those characters through their performances.
Of course, I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult for the creators behind the scenes, but anime is truly a wonderful art form.
That said, there’s something I’ve never quite understood about the anime industry—or more specifically, about the culture surrounding voice actors.
It’s how some fans obsess over their favorite voice actor’s Christmas plans.
They worry whether their favorite might have a significant other. And while I won’t deny that it’s a sign of just how deeply they care, I can’t help but feel a little puzzled.
I mean, even if a voice actor has work on Christmas Day, they can always go on a date some other time.
That’s how it is for most working adults anyway. In fact, for a lot of people, Christmas is their busiest season.
So yes—even if you’re not free on Christmas itself, there’s no reason you can’t go on a date some other day.
And on that note…

“Even if we’ve already made plans for a Christmas date, there’s no rule saying we can’t go on another one, right?”

Today is Sunday, December 8th.
Neither of us has school, so we’re both free.
Come to think of it, it’s been a while since we’ve gone out like this—just the two of us.
Now that we’re officially dating, this is technically our first real date.
We’ve spent a lot of time together through tutoring sessions and late-night calls, but this feels different.

“I wonder where she is…”

At her request, we agreed to meet at the station today.
Apparently, she just wanted to experience a “classic date meetup.”
Honestly, I totally get that. I kind of wanted to try it too.
There’s something enjoyable about waiting for someone, filled with anticipation.
With that in mind, I arrived fifteen minutes early.

“There she is.”

I spotted her at the meeting spot ahead.
There was no mistaking that perfectly styled blonde hair and those delicate features.

“Kengorou-san!”

Spring sprinted over, waving her arms enthusiastically.
What an adorable creature.

“You look cute today, Haruki.”
“Ehehe, thank you!”

She was wearing jeans and an off-the-shoulder knit sweater.
Isn’t she cold?
No—she’s definitely cold. Her ears and nose are all red.

“Haruki, let’s go back inside the station for a bit.”
“Ah, you figured it out?”
“Of course I did.”
“Ahaha, true. Achoo!”

She let out a small, adorable sneeze that made me smile, but I couldn’t help feeling worried.
So, I reached out and took her hand.

“Whoa, Kengorou-san, you’re being bold this early in the morning!”
“It’s not like that. I’m just worried about you.”
“I know. Thanks—it makes me happy.”

Wait a second… why is my face getting hot too?
