- Chapter 5 - You're So Soft
Song Cheng could have dodged, but she didn’t, allowing Liu Zimang to fling herself into her arms.
“You’re so soft,” she murmured in admiration.
Liu Zimang, still shaken from her near-death experience, froze at the compliment before pushing Song Cheng’s face away, her cheeks burning with embarrassment and indignation. “Inappropriate!”
Where did I go wrong? Song Cheng wondered. Junior Martial Uncle always used to praise beautiful women like this.
Thinking of her Junior Martial Uncle, Song Cheng’s thoughts drifted back to him. It had been over a year since they last met, and she missed him terribly.
With his sharp mind, he probably thinks I’m gone for good, sitting on some mountain peak cursing the heavens.
Song Cheng had been brought to the Sword Sect at the age of five by her Master, who had been training in the mortal realm. Her Master’s heart wasn’t truly with the sect, so after introducing her, she entrusted the girl to her Junior Martial Uncle, who was ten years her senior.
Her Junior Martial Uncle was playful and mischievous. After finishing his studies, he would whisk her away to explore every corner of the sect.
As her cultivation progressed, he began taking her on worldly adventures, traveling across the land, indulging in fine cuisine, and admiring beautiful women.
Looking back now, Song Cheng still cherished those vibrant days.
Before she could respond, Liu Zimang slowly lifted her head, realizing Song Cheng was lost in thought. She gave her a gentle shove.
The push startled both of them.
Liu Zimang’s hand hadn’t landed just anywhere—it had pressed against Song Cheng’s chest.
Song Cheng’s pupils widened slightly. Did she just… touch me?
Realizing her mistake, Liu Zimang immediately withdrew her hand.
Song Cheng swiftly grabbed her wrist, pulling her close with a gentle tug. She raised her other hand to lightly stroke Liu Zimang’s cheek.
The cool touch and the dangerous glint in Song Cheng’s eyes froze Liu Zimang in place.
She was about to explain when a sharp voice cut through the air.
“Song Cheng, get out here!”
It was Chu Sijie, who had chased after Song Cheng after failing to persuade the production team to delete the video footage.
To force Song Cheng out of the car, Chu Sijie even spread her arms wide, blocking the nanny van and preventing it from moving.
Through the window, Song Cheng glanced at Chu Sijie’s face, contorted with hatred, before indifferently turning away and pulling Liu Zimang, who had already averted her gaze, back toward her.
Liu Zimang’s icy demeanor had melted away, her cheeks flushed crimson, her fox-like eyes slightly moist, and her delicate lips, painted a ripe tomato red, parted slightly. This tender and vulnerable sight softened Song Cheng’s heart. “Fine, I’ll let you off this time.”
Liu Zimang’s heart raced as she breathed a sigh of relief, but a wave of disappointment followed.
“Open the door!” Song Cheng ordered.
Zhao Q didn’t hesitate, pressing the unlock button.
As Song Cheng rose to her feet, Liu Zimang instinctively grabbed the corner of her shirt. “What are you going to do?”
“If someone’s come looking for trouble, how could I possibly refuse to oblige?” As she spoke, Song Cheng unconsciously exuded a menacing aura.
Liu Zimang stiffened slightly, but didn’t release her grip on Song Cheng’s sleeve. “The reporters are interviewing the audience right now. If you get into a conflict with her, they’ll swarm over here. Then you’ll…”
Song Cheng cut her off before she could finish. “Are you worried about me?”
Liu Zimang’s face flushed crimson. She nervously picked at her thumb, avoiding Song Cheng’s gaze. “Just wait a bit. She’ll leave on her own.”
“Wait? That’s not my style.” With that, Song Cheng pushed open the car door and stepped out. As she closed the door, she turned back. “I’m quite flattered by your concern, darling.”
Without waiting for Liu Zimang’s reply, she slammed the door shut. She’d wanted to see Liu Zimang’s reaction, but realized the tinted windows made it impossible to see inside.
Withdrawing her gaze, she turned and strode toward Chu Sijie.
Inside the car, Liu Zimang remained uneasy. She moved to follow Song Cheng, but Zhao Q’s words stopped her. “Sister Liu, don’t forget your influence.”
Remembering the reporters swarming like flies, she sank back into her seat. “Find a place to park and wait for her.”
Zhao Q, sitting in the driver’s seat, watched Song Cheng haul Chu Sijie away like a chicken, his lips twitching slightly.
With her martial arts skills, what was there to worry about?
If anything, they should be worried about Chu Sijie getting hurt.
In reality, Song Cheng wasn’t that violent. She simply dragged Chu Sijie to a secluded spot to give her a stern talking-to.
After only two steps, Chu Sijie began kicking her legs and screaming, “Help! Someone’s attacking me!”
Annoyed by the piercing noise, Song Cheng casually ripped off Chu Sijie’s mask and stuffed it into her mouth.
Chu Sijie raised her hand to remove it, but when she met Song Cheng’s icy gaze, she lowered her hand, shook her head, and whimpered, her eyes reddening.
Song Cheng didn’t spare her another glance. She quickened her pace, found a deserted corner, and threw Chu Sijie down.
The sudden impact threw Chu Sijie off balance, and she stumbled awkwardly before collapsing to the ground.
Song Cheng remained unmoved. Instead, she stepped closer and loomed over Chu Sijie, whose eyes were already brimming with tears.
Her coldness and aggression made Chu Sijie shrink back. She braced herself on her hands, shook her head, and looked up at Song Cheng, pleading, “I was wrong! I’ll never bother you again!”
Song Cheng said nothing, merely staring coldly at Chu Sijie.
This only intensified Chu Sijie’s terror. Her hair stood on end, tears streamed down her face, and her voice trembled as she begged, “I was wrong! I truly understand my mistake! Please give me one more chance! I promise I’ll never appear before you again!”
Song Cheng shifted slightly, crouched down, and swiftly grabbed Chu Sijie’s chin. With a little force, Chu Sijie’s face contorted in pain. “Tell me,” Song Cheng demanded, “how did you end up with such a vile mouth?”
Chu Sijie trembled violently, desperate to escape but unable to break free. “Please, I beg you, spare me. Please.”
Still uneasy, Liu Zimang had followed Song Cheng after getting out of the car. As she approached, she witnessed the scene unfolding.
She didn’t think Song Cheng was being excessive; Chu Sijie had brought this upon herself.
Song Cheng noticed Liu Zimang’s arrival. She released Chu Sijie’s chin, stood up, and said, “Remember my words. If you ever speak disrespectfully again, I’ll cut out your tongue.”
Without another glance at Chu Sijie, she turned and walked toward Liu Zimang. “Let’s go!”
Liu Zimang nodded slightly and walked beside her onto the road.
“Sister Song…”
After completing the task Hongxia had assigned her, Zhu Keyong rushed back as quickly as possible. She searched the entire production crew but couldn’t find Song Cheng.
Just as she was about to head back alone, she finally spotted Song Cheng.
Panting, Zhu Ke rushed up to Song Cheng. “Sister Song, didn’t you bring your phone? Why haven’t you been answering?”
“What would I need that thing for?” Song Cheng turned to look at Liu Zimang before continuing to Zhu Ke, “The beauty here will escort me. You can go home now.”
Seeing her about to leave, Zhu Ke grabbed Song Cheng’s hand. “But Sister Hongxia told me to take you to the company.”
“Tell her I’m busy!”
“Sister Hongxia said if I don’t bring you, I won’t have a job tomorrow!” Zhu Ke was on the verge of tears.
Realizing the production team might have already taken action, Song Cheng immediately said to Liu Zimang, “I’m going to the company. See you later!” With that, she strode off.
Liu Zimang swallowed the warning she had been about to give.
As soon as Song Cheng entered the lobby of Phoenix Sky Entertainment, she noticed occasional glances being cast her way.
Completely unfazed, she followed the memories of her original body, heading straight for the General Manager’s office.
Her pace was too brisk, forcing Zhu Ke to jog to keep up. “Sister Song, what… what are you planning to do? I heard General Manager Hu is furious.”
“What’s it to me if he’s angry?” Song Cheng slowed her pace, noticing Zhu Ke’s nervousness. “If you’re scared, stay here. This has nothing to do with you anyway.”
Zhu Ke didn’t stop, clutching the hem of her shirt as she silently followed Song Cheng.
Seeing this, Song Cheng said nothing more. She reached the door of the general manager’s office without hesitation and knocked firmly.
Hearing the permission to enter, she strode inside.
Before she could even settle, Hu Tianyu, the general manager of Phoenix Sky Entertainment, pointed a finger at her and began to berate her: “Where’s your brain? Did a dog eat it? Yesterday’s stunt—demanding money from the production team in front of thousands of viewers and tens of thousands of online fans—wasn’t enough? Now you’ve exposed their lip-syncing right to their faces? What’s next? Are you going to tear the roof off the studio tomorrow?”
Song Cheng frowned slightly, her gaze fixed on the finger still pointing at her. “If you want me to, I can try.”
Hu Tianyu withdrew his hand, repeatedly patting his chest.
With the distracting finger gone, Song Cheng immediately felt more at ease. She walked to the sofa, sat down gracefully, and waited for Hu Tianyu to continue.
After calming down somewhat, Hu Tianyu had just settled back into his chair when a notification alert sounded.
After browsing the messages, Hu Tianyu’s expression softened slightly, though he avoided looking at Song Cheng. “The production team might let you off the hook out of respect for Liu Zimang, but you need to apologize to General Zhang immediately and promise never to repeat this.”
With that, he stood up from his chair. “I’ll go with you.”
Song Cheng: “……”
What happened to being frozen out?
She turned her head away, presenting her profile to Hu Tianyu. “I’m not going!”
Hu Tianyu’s briefly improved mood vanished instantly. He jumped up, his voice rising. “Song Cheng, don’t test my patience.”
He expected her to back down at this threat, but instead, she stood up and walked toward the door, leaving only the back of her head visible.
As Song Cheng reached the doorway, a crash of falling objects sounded behind her.
Standing outside the door, Zhu Ke heard the noise and pressed herself against the wall, clenching her fists. “Sister Song,” she whispered, “aren’t you afraid General Manager Hu will sabotage you after provoking him like that?”
“I’d welcome it.”
Zhu Ke: “……”
An hour later, Song Cheng was trending again.

Green Garden.
In a classically decorated duplex apartment, Liu Zimang saw the trending topics and threw her tablet down. “Utter nonsense.”
Her manager, Zhang Yux, glanced at the tablet before quickly looking away and continuing to eat her orange. “How long have you been in this industry? Don’t you know how those reporters operate? They’ll twist white into black for the sake of clicks.”
Changing the subject, Zhang Yux asked, “Why did you help Song Cheng today?”
Liu Zimang flopped onto the sofa, picked up the tablet again, and scrolled through the screen as she replied, “Because I felt like it.”
“Fine. Because you ‘felt like it,’ the entire team is now running around like headless chickens.”
Liu Zimang raised her gaze slightly to meet Zhang Yux’s. “Aren’t you looking pretty relaxed right now?”
Zhang Yux shot to her feet. “Liu Zimang, have you noticed you’re starting to sound as punchable as that Song Cheng?”
