Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 11
Ning Xi took the free shuttle back to school. The first thing she did was go to Fang Huailian’s office to request a leave of absence.
The film was scheduled to start shooting next week. She would be on a closed set for over two months, which meant she wouldn’t be able to keep up with her classes.
When Ning Xi arrived at the counselor’s office, she knocked, walked in, approached Fang Huailian’s desk, and removed her mask.
“Mr. Fang, I’m here to request a leave of absence,” she said.
Fang Huailian looked up and saw that it was Ning Xi. His expression immediately became complicated.
Yu Qingxue had just sent him a message on WeChat. He hadn’t opened it yet, but he already knew what it said. He really wanted to show it to Ning Xi and ask if it was true that she had fought with the actress playing the third female lead because of jealousy over Yu Qingxue.
Logically, he had a hard time believing it. But ever since he had known Yu Qingxue, she had never lied to him.
There was a hint of confusion in Ning Xi’s dark eyes. “Mr. Fang?”
“Oh, it’s nothing,” Fang Huailian replied, quickly looking away as if nothing was wrong. He didn’t even ask for a reason. He pulled out a stack of leave request forms from his drawer and placed them on the desk.
“Fill this out,” he said, handing her a pen.
“Thank you,” Ning Xi replied politely. She pulled a chair over, sat down, and began to fill out the form.
As Fang Huailian watched her quiet and composed expression, he couldn’t picture her acting out of jealousy. Deep down, he sighed. Yu Qingxue really lived up to her reputation as someone who could enchant others. It had only been a few days, and she had already caused Ning Xi to get into a fight for her.
He had seen the post on the school forum too. To be honest, the photos didn’t capture her true beauty. Ning Xi looked even more stunning in person. With a face like hers, it was only a matter of time before she became famous. He just hoped that once she did, she wouldn’t be blinded by the glamorous entertainment industry and would treat Yu Qingxue with sincerity.
Ning Xi finished filling out the form and looked up at him. Her dark eyes were calm and clear.
“Mr. Fang, is there something you want to talk to me about?”
Fang Huailian was startled for a moment and quickly composed his expression.
“No, why do you ask?”
“Because ever since I came in, you’ve been looking at me strangely.” Ning Xi pushed the leave form toward him.
“You’ve helped me before. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If I can answer them, I will.”
Fang Huailian saw how sincere her tone was. She was clearly grateful, which made him feel a bit touched.
“I only gave you a little help. You earned everything through your own efforts,” he said gently.
He picked up the leave form and read through it carefully. Then he looked up and smiled.
“Take the next few days to prepare. You don’t need to attend classes for now. Focus on memorizing the script. The crew will probably be filming in the mountains, so you’ll need to prepare the necessary supplies. If you’re not sure what to bring, ask Assistant Xue. She has plenty of experience and will definitely know what you need.”
On the way back to her dorm, Ning Xi opened WeChat to message Assistant Xue and ask what she should bring when joining the set.
In her previous life, her agent and assistant had taken care of everything for her. She only had to focus on acting, so she never paid attention to these details.
The sky was clear and the sun shone warmly. The tree-lined path was filled with thick branches and leaves. Birds chirped now and then from within the trees.
As Ning Xi walked under the shade, sunlight filtered through the leaves and danced across her face. Her fair skin glowed in the light, and her delicate, well-defined features looked flawless whether from afar or up close.
Two days ago, Wang Yunxuan left the dorm in a rush before hearing Li Shuru’s explanation. After class, she received a call from home and had to return briefly. She had just come back at noon.
She was hurrying toward the dorm building when she passed a tall figure. On instinct, she turned to look.
She stopped walking. Approaching Ning Xi, she spoke with a hint of irritation.
“It’s you?”
“Do we know each other?” Ning Xi looked at the girl standing in front of her. The girl was a head shorter than her, and her dark eyes were filled with genuine confusion.
Facing Ning Xi’s face at such close range, Wang Yunxuan’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, then began pounding so hard it felt like it might jump out of her chest.
When Li Shuru had described Ning Xi, Wang Yunxuan hadn’t believed her. She couldn’t imagine someone as perfect as the person Shuru had described.
But now that she had seen her, she believed it.
Li Shuru had told the truth.
Ning Xi was the kind of person who could make even Cai Yixuan seem ordinary by comparison.
Wang Yunxuan pressed her lips together and looked away. If she kept looking at Ning Xi, she was afraid her face would turn red.
If her face turned red, how could she speak with authority on behalf of her best friend?
“Ning Xi, I hope you will take Shuru seriously and stop lying to her or playing with her feelings. She’s a simple and innocent girl. After you hurt her last time, she cried in the dorm for days. I told her to stay away from you, but she likes you too much. A few sweet words from you, and she forgot everything I told her.”
“Shuru is my best friend. I won’t let you hurt her again. If I catch you making her cry one more time, I’ll post everything on the campus forum and destroy your reputation.”
Wang Yunxuan didn’t give Ning Xi any time to respond. As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and ran off.
Ning Xi stood there silently.
Was this what people meant by “walking peacefully down the road, only to be struck by a falling pot out of nowhere”?
In the novel, Li Shuru was portrayed as a simple, studious, top-of-the-class Omega who would never do something like slander her. Most likely, the girl from earlier had misunderstood the situation.
Since it was a misunderstanding, it would be best to clear it up as soon as possible.
Ning Xi opened her chat with Li Shuru and briefly summarized what had just happened.
She wrote, “I hope you can help explain things to her. Sorry to trouble you.”
After sending the message, Ning Xi didn’t stay any longer. Her tall figure soon disappeared around the corner.
Once she was gone, Cai Yixuan stepped out from behind a large tree nearby, her eyes shining with excitement as she stared at the video she had just recorded on her phone.
Wang Yunxuan’s voice had the perfect tone and clarity.
As soon as she uploaded the video to the campus forum, she was sure everyone would finally see the truth about Ning Xi.
So much for being a flawless goddess. So much for being perfect. Ning Xi was just a heartless player who toyed with people’s feelings.
Wang Yunxuan rushed into the Omega girls’ dormitory, breathless by the time she reached the door to her room.
She had no intention of telling Li Shuru what had just happened. Not wanting her friend to notice anything strange, she placed a hand on her chest and waited patiently for her breathing to return to normal. Once she had composed herself and adjusted her expression, she pushed the door open and walked in.
Li Shuru was anxiously pacing back and forth inside the dorm. When she heard the door open and saw Wang Yunxuan enter, she immediately ran over and grabbed her hand.
“Yunxuan, did you go talk to Ning Xi?”
Wang Yunxuan frowned. “Did Ning Xi complain to you?”
“Yunxuan, listen to me. You really misunderstood her. Ning Xi and I are just ordinary classmates. There’s nothing more between us. I was only upset because I had built up a fantasy in my head, and that fantasy got shattered. Ning Xi has never acted ambiguously toward me.”
Li Shuru spoke in one breath, then pulled up her chat history with Ning Xi and scrolled to the top.
“If you don’t believe me, look at our messages.”
After hearing everything, Wang Yunxuan already believed most of it. Feeling uneasy, she read through their chat and saw for herself that Ning Xi had only treated Li Shuru as a normal classmate. There was not a single word that could be considered flirtatious.
What on earth had she just done?
Wang Yunxuan covered her flushed face.
“Shuru, I’m too ashamed to face Ning Xi ever again.”
At that moment, a new post appeared on the front page of the campus forum. It was quickly upvoted and caused an uproar across campus.
