Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 16
Yu Qingxue stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe. Her soft curls draped over her shoulders, and her freshly pampered face looked clear and delicate. The skin exposed beneath her silk nightdress seemed to glow with a fair radiance. Her calves were beautifully shaped, and her toenails were painted a striking red. Every detail of her appearance was refined and flawless.
Seeing that Ning Xi hadn’t moved, she urged her, “Come on, hurry up. I still need my beauty sleep.” After speaking, she turned and went back into the room.
Ning Xi breathed a silent sigh of relief. If Yu Qingxue was going to sleep, then clearly they wouldn’t be sharing a bed. That was good.
The thought made her feel a bit ashamed. Just now, she had really jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Thankfully, she hadn’t voiced her suspicion. Otherwise, she might have ended up being thrown out of the villa.
Ning Xi followed Yu Qingxue inside and discovered that there was a whole new space behind the door.
A small sitting area divided the room in half, with a door on either side.
Yu Qingxue casually pointed to the one on the right. “That’s the guest room. You’ll be sleeping there tonight. Nanny Zhang keeps it tidy every day, so everything inside is clean and ready.”
After speaking, she gave Ning Xi a thoughtful look, her clear eyes flashing slightly. “Your figure is pretty similar to mine. Just wear one of my nightgowns for now. We can go buy you new ones later when we have time.”
Ning Xi replied, “President Yu, don’t forget we just went shopping. You picked out two nightgowns for me. I can wear my own.”
Yu Qingxue seemed to have anticipated her answer. She immediately said, “Don’t you know that you shouldn’t wear new nightclothes before washing them? I already had Nanny Zhang rinse them for you. They won’t be dry until tomorrow morning.”
In truth, there was a dryer in the house. Nanny Zhang had already dried the clothes with it. But there was no need for Ning Xi to know that.
Ning Xi had used a washer-dryer combo in her past life, so she hadn’t imagined that clothes in Yu Qingxue’s home would be air-dried. Maybe Yu Qingxue just didn’t like the way dried clothes felt after machine drying.
“Thank you, President Yu,” Ning Xi said politely.
“You’re staying in my home. Something this small isn’t a big deal. Go take a shower first. I’ll bring the nightgown to your room in a bit,” Yu Qingxue said as she turned and went into her own bedroom.
After closing the door behind her, she walked quickly into her walk-in closet to choose a nightgown for Ning Xi.
But no matter how many she looked through, she couldn’t decide. In the end, she had to call her best friend, Fang Huailian, for help.
She started a video call and showed Fang Huailian a dozen different nightgowns one by one.
Fang Huailian looked confused. “Qingxue, why are you showing me your nightgowns? Are you bragging about how many you have?”
“Of course not,” Yu Qingxue replied, her voice soft with a hint of shyness. “I just want you to help me choose which one would look best on Ning Xi.”
Fang Huailian was silent for a moment. “Qingxue, can you stop moving so fast? Ning Xi just got to your house, and you’re already picking out sleepwear for her?”
Yu Qingxue looked smug. “She’s willing to wear my nightgown. If you’re jealous, go wear Guan Yujing’s.”
Fang Huailian groaned. “Forget it. I’m not interested in women’s sleepwear. Fine, if you really want my opinion, pick the second one from the left. The dark green silk slip dress. But…”
“But what?”
“Just don’t lose control when you see her wearing it,” Fang Huailian said.
At those words, Yu Qingxue couldn’t help imagining Ning Xi in that silk nightgown. Porcelain skin, beautiful face, red lips, and a perfectly shaped figure. Paired with the dark green silk, the image in her mind was almost too vivid.
As the image formed, a flush of pink rose from her cheeks and spread down her neck.
“This is the one,” she whispered, taking the gown off the rack. “Thanks, old Fang. Good night.” She hung up before Fang Huailian could reply.
After showering, Ning Xi returned to her room and found the nightgown laid neatly on the bed. Yu Qingxue was nowhere in sight.
She dried her hair and changed into the gown. Just as Yu Qingxue had said, their figures were very similar. The gown fit her perfectly.
The only difference was that Ning Xi was taller. What should have been a knee-length dress only reached her mid-thigh.
She stood in front of the full-length mirror and brushed her jet-black hair behind her shoulders. The dark green silk clung softly to her fair skin, making her look striking and alluring. With her black hair and deep eyes, pale complexion and red lips, the woman in the mirror looked like a siren from a dream. Her every glance and smile seemed to pull at the soul.
Ning Xi usually went to bed at ten, and it was only nine o’clock. She didn’t want to waste the time. Tomorrow was the group script read-through, and she wanted to go over the script again.
The script was on the coffee table downstairs. As she stepped out of her room, she came face to face with Yu Qingxue.
Ning Xi paused. “President Yu, you’re still awake?”
Yu Qingxue was sitting in a single armchair in the small lounge. She met Ning Xi’s eyes for a moment before quickly looking away. Her voice was soft. “I usually sleep at ten.”
She gently swirled the wine in her crystal glass. The deep red liquid rippled lightly with the tremble of her fingers.
Facing Yu Qingxue while wearing such a revealing nightgown made Ning Xi feel a bit uneasy. In her past life, it wouldn’t have mattered since they were both women. But now, as an Alpha, she was worried Yu Qingxue might misunderstand her intentions.
“I’m just going downstairs to get my script. I won’t bother you,” Ning Xi said quickly.
“Go ahead,” Yu Qingxue replied coldly without looking at her. Her side profile was as distant as ice.
Ning Xi gently closed the door behind her as she left.
The soft click of the door closing reached Yu Qingxue’s ears, and in that moment, her composure completely crumbled. Her ears burned red.
She couldn’t help but scream in her mind.
Ning Xi looked so good in that nightgown.
“I want to sleep.” Yu Qingxue’s voice was soft, with a hint of teasing.
Ning Xi returned quickly. The moment Yu Qingxue heard footsteps, she immediately regained her composure. When Ning Xi opened the door and walked in, Yu Qingxue tilted her head back and finished the wine in her crystal glass. The blush on her cheeks finally had an excuse.
Her light-colored eyes looked slightly dazed from the alcohol as she gazed at Ning Xi. Concerned, Ning Xi walked over and asked gently, “President Yu, are you drunk?”
Resting her cheek in her palm, Yu Qingxue lightly tapped her flushed skin with her delicate fingertips and tilted her head. “It was just half a glass of wine. How could I be drunk?”
No drunk person ever admits they’re drunk.
Ning Xi said patiently, “Please wait here for a moment, President Yu.”
She turned back to her room to put down the script, then returned to Yu Qingxue’s side. She crouched down to meet her eyes and spoke in a warm, soothing voice, like sunlight in early spring. “President Yu, it’s time to sleep. Let me take you to your room so you can rest, alright?”
Yu Qingxue couldn’t help but glance up at Ning Xi, then quickly looked away. Her long lashes trembled like butterfly wings in the wind. “Okay,” she whispered.
Ning Xi stood up and politely offered her hand, gently supporting Yu Qingxue by the arm. Yu Qingxue stood with her help, but whether her legs were weak or she had simply lost balance, she leaned softly against Ning Xi as soon as she got up.
Inwardly, Ning Xi sighed, thinking, “Yu Qingxue really does have an amazing figure.” She steadied her with a gentle but firm grip, making sure there was no contact between them apart from their hands and arms.
Yu Qingxue said nothing, but her silence was full of emotion. Was she really that unappealing? What was so wrong with leaning in a little?
Feeling a little frustrated, she didn’t try to tease Ning Xi any further. She behaved herself and let Ning Xi escort her quietly back to her room.
Ning Xi helped Yu Qingxue lie down on the bed, took off her slippers, and pulled a light blanket over her. She didn’t linger. Without saying a word, she left the room.
She had already lost five more minutes. She needed to get back to her script.
After Ning Xi left, Yu Qingxue stopped pretending to be drunk and reached for her phone on the nightstand.
She had just remembered that “Assistant Xue” still hadn’t replied to Ning Xi’s message from earlier that afternoon.
Since Ning Xi was the kind of person who always acted properly and never picked up on hints, Yu Qingxue could only comfort herself by chatting with her through the assistant’s account.
Yu Qingxue’s Assistant: Sorry I didn’t reply to your message earlier. I got sent on a last-minute business trip to the Free State. It’s just getting light here now.
Yu Qingxue’s Assistant: Did you enjoy shopping with President Yu today? [grinning face]
A few seconds later, Ning Xi replied.
Ning Xi: It’s alright. I really enjoyed shopping with President Yu today.
Yu Qingxue frowned slightly at how formal the message sounded.
Yu Qingxue’s Assistant: Can you tell me what made it fun? I really wish I could go shopping with President Yu too, but I’m always on business trips.
In the guest room, Ning Xi was multitasking—reading her script while replying to Assistant Xue’s messages. She had just reached the scene she had auditioned with, where Feng Yunyan confesses to Dong Lingxue. Without thinking too much, and with her fingers moving faster than her thoughts, she typed and sent a message.
Ning Xi: You can imagine Dong Lingxue going shopping with Feng Yunyan. Not only helping her choose clothes but also paying for everything. That kind of happy.
When Yu Qingxue saw the message, her heart nearly leapt out of her chest. Her cheeks turned bright red as she held her phone tightly.
Was… was this really what she thought it meant?
