Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 21
The sun was about to set, and the golden light, soft as gauze, filtered through the glass window of the restroom, casting a warm glow across Ning Xi’s delicate profile. Her dark eyes seemed to take on the gentle warmth of the evening sun.
Ning Xi’s lashes trembled slightly as she tilted her head toward Wei Nian and asked for confirmation.
“You’re saying that Cai Yixuan posted false accusations about me on the Beihua Academy campus forum, and it was President Yu who stepped in to defend me and clear my name?”
Wei Nian nodded, her face filled with envy.
“Yes. As far as I know, your background is pretty modest, and you don’t seem to have any rich or influential friends. Except for President Yu, I can’t think of anyone else who could have helped you. What surprised me even more is that President Yu did such a big thing for you and didn’t even mention it.”
There was disbelief in Wei Nian’s tone.
“I guess President Yu didn’t want to upset you. The more I think about it, the more jealous I get. No wonder Cai Yixuan turned into a bitter lemon. If I had to watch my dream lover being so kind to another Alpha every day, I’d probably drown in jealousy too.”
But unlike Cai Yixuan, Wei Nian wasn’t that foolish. She would keep her jealousy to herself.
Ning Xi found herself at a loss for words. She had always thought she admired Yu Qingxue from afar, hoping to become friends. She never imagined that Yu Qingxue had done so much for her behind the scenes.
She didn’t just help her. She never even tried to take credit.
“I understand. Thank you for telling me,” Ning Xi said sincerely. She noted down the address for the Beihua campus forum and handed Wei Nian’s phone back to her. “Let me walk you out.”
When they reached the door, Yu Qingxue and Jiang Yuanxin had just finished their conversation.
Yu Qingxue looked over and saw the two of them walking out together. Ning Xi seemed quite attentive as she helped Wei Nian into the car. Yu Qingxue’s expression grew even darker.
Jiang Yuanxin noticed her mood and couldn’t help but laugh lightly. He patted her shoulder.
“Qingxue, come on. Both Wei Nian and Ning Xi are Alphas. What could possibly be going on between them? You’re being way too paranoid.”
Yu Qingxue gave him a sidelong glance.
“If the person you like is outstanding enough, you’ll feel anxious no matter who gets close to her, regardless of their gender.”
Jiang Yuanxin froze for a second.
Was his wife just indirectly calling him insecure? And he had no comeback.
When Ning Xi returned from walking Wei Nian out, she found Yu Qingxue and Jiang Yuanxin standing together, completely silent, like two children sulking after an argument.
She couldn’t help but smile and walked up to Yu Qingxue.
“Thank you again for having me here tonight.”
Yu Qingxue’s cold expression softened slightly at Ning Xi’s smile.
“It’s no trouble. The guest room would be empty anyway.”
Jiang Yuanxin could practically taste the sweetness in the air and quickly changed the subject.
“Didn’t you say Fang Huailian and Guan Yujing are coming for dinner? When will they get here?”
“They’ll arrive at eight,” Yu Qingxue replied.
This couple had helped her a great deal recently. She invited them for dinner not only as thanks but also to discuss a potential collaboration. It was only fair to share opportunities with those who had contributed.
Since close friends were coming for dinner, and as the host, she needed to be at her best, Ning Xi grew concerned.
“President Yu, it’s still more than an hour until eight. Why don’t you rest for a bit in your room?”
Yu Qingxue met Ning Xi’s warm and concerned gaze, and a gentle feeling spread in her chest.
“That sounds good. I’ve actually been feeling a little tired.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her posture wavered slightly, as if she were about to lose balance.
Ning Xi, recalling what had happened at noon, immediately stepped forward in just a few strides and stood at Yu Qingxue’s side.
Jiang Yuanxin only felt a breeze brush past. The next moment, Ning Xi had already become Yu Qingxue’s support.
Yu Qingxue leaned softly against Ning Xi, looking visibly exhausted.
Jiang Yuanxin stared blankly.
Was this for real?
He finally understood why Yu Qingxue had chosen to become an actress. It wasn’t about fame. It was so she could act fragile in front of someone she liked without giving herself away.
So calculating.
Ning Xi helped Yu Qingxue back to the master bedroom but didn’t leave right away.
Yu Qingxue looked up at her.
“Is there something else?”
Ning Xi recalled how the Omega actors were rubbing their sore shoulders earlier and hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“President Yu, you’ve been sitting all day. Your shoulders must be sore. If you’d like, I could give you a shoulder massage. It’ll help you relax and sleep better.”
Ning Xi offered this sincerely, hoping Yu Qingxue would understand her concern.
Even though there was a biological difference between Alphas and Omegas, and Yu Qingxue would most likely turn her down politely, Ning Xi thought it was better to ask than say nothing.
At the very least, Yu Qingxue would know she wasn’t offering out of pity or obligation.
Ning Xi genuinely wanted to become her friend, like Jiang Yuanxin and Fang Huailian.
Yu Qingxue’s fingers curled slightly at her side, revealing a trace of nervousness.
“You want to give me a shoulder massage?” Her voice was soft, with a hint of surprise.
Ning Xi nodded.
“Please don’t worry. I don’t have any hidden intentions. I really just want to help you feel more comfortable.”
At first, Yu Qingxue felt a bit annoyed hearing Ning Xi clarify she had no personal motives. But when she heard the rest of the sentence, her heart started racing and her cheeks turned pink.
“I see. That’s very thoughtful,” she said, turning to the side. Her wavy hair fell forward, hiding the blush on her face. She tried to keep her tone neutral.
“Would it be easier for you if I sit like this? Or should I move to the vanity? Or lie down on the bed?”
Ning Xi hadn’t expected her to agree at all. Caught off guard by the question, she paused briefly before replying.
“This posture is fine.”
The room was unusually quiet. Looking at Yu Qingxue’s slender back, Ning Xi suddenly felt a little nervous.
“President Yu, please try to relax. Don’t move.”
Ning Xi gently parted her soft, curly hair and brought it forward over her shoulders, revealing the graceful curve of her neck and her delicate shoulder blades.
Being an actor came with physical strain. In her past life, Ning Xi had experienced issues with her neck, shoulders, and back, and often got massages. She had picked up a few techniques along the way.
She might not be able to cure ailments, but she could certainly help someone feel more at ease.
Ning Xi sat behind Yu Qingxue and gently placed her thumbs on the pressure points at the base of her neck. She felt Yu Qingxue’s body tense noticeably and calmly reassured her.
“Don’t worry. I won’t press too hard.”
Yu Qingxue’s heart was pounding like a drum, her ears burning with heat. “Alright.” Slowly, her body began to relax.
Ning Xi carefully massaged Yu Qingxue’s neck and shoulders. After she finished, she stood up and said softly, “All done, President Yu.”
At first, Yu Qingxue had not really cared about the massage itself. But once Ning Xi began, she quickly forgot all the thoughts she should not have entertained. The massage was simply too good. It was so soothing that she started to feel drowsy almost immediately, her mind slipping into a calm haze.
When Ning Xi didn’t get a reply, she walked around to the front to check. What she saw made her smile.
Yu Qingxue’s long lashes were lowered. Her thin eyelids, lightly tinted with the delicate web of veins visible beneath the sunlight, hid her beautiful pale eyes. She had already fallen asleep.
Ning Xi chuckled softly and whispered, “You really trust me too much. How can you fall asleep in front of an Alpha without any defenses?”
She gently helped Yu Qingxue lie down, pulled a blanket over her, and closed the curtains to darken the room, creating a more restful atmosphere. Only then did she quietly leave the master bedroom.
Back in the guest room, Ning Xi didn’t rest. She took out her phone and typed in the website address Wei Nian had mentioned, logging into the Beihua Academy campus forum.
The forum was only accessible to currently enrolled students and staff members. Ning Xi registered an account using her student ID. She didn’t even have to search. Right on the homepage, several of the top posts were already marked in red and impossible to miss.
The posts were arranged chronologically, with the earliest ones at the bottom. She skipped over Cai Yixuan’s original post and went straight to the replies and clarifications.
The first post was a statement from Wang Yunxuan.
As Ning Xi clicked it open, she couldn’t help but remember how Yu Qingxue had taken the initiative to add Wang Yunxuan on WeChat yesterday after hearing her name. That detail now made everything much clearer.
In the last of the clarification posts, Ning Xi noticed a familiar name, which confirmed her suspicion. Yu Qingxue had definitely helped her.
Zhen Qiuyun was a doctor at Beihai First Hospital. There was no reason for someone like him to care about a campus gossip post unless someone had specifically contacted him for help.
Ning Xi’s eyes sparkled slightly. She opened WeChat and messaged Zhen Qiuyun.
Ning Xi:
Dr. Zhen, do you have a moment? I’d like to ask you something.
He replied almost instantly.
Zhen Qiuyun:
What a coincidence. I just got off work. But if you’re about to ask why I helped clarify things for you, I only have one answer: for justice.
[laughing emoji]
Ning Xi:
Dr. Zhen…
Zhen Qiuyun:
She told me not to say anything. I accepted her favor, so I really can’t tell you.
[shrugging emoji]
Ning Xi:
You don’t have to say anything. Just listen to me. The person who asked you to help was Yu Qingxue. That’s my statement. I just need you to say yes or no. That’s all.
Zhen Qiuyun:
…Yes.
[thumbs up emoji]
Ning Xi:
Got it. Thank you, Dr. Zhen.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Wait. I just remembered something about your susceptibility period.
Ning Xi was about to exit the chat, but paused and looked back at the screen.
Ning Xi:
Is there a way to shorten my susceptibility period?
[anxious face] [hopeful face]
There were only thirty days in a month, and her susceptibility period took up ten of them. That meant nearly a third of her time was spent locked away, enduring something she hadn’t even fully experienced yet but already dreaded more than her differentiation period.
Zhen Qiuyun:
If I had the solution to shorten it, I’d be at the peak of medical science right now. I wouldn’t still be a small-time doctor.
Zhen Qiuyun:
What I’m trying to tell you has to do with your future Omega partner. Interested now?
Ning Xi:
Sorry. Not interested.
She had no desire for a romantic relationship and certainly no intention of having an Omega in her future.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Don’t be so quick to say no. At least hear me out first.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Recently, I came across an Omega’s file by chance while looking through the hospital archives. This Omega also has a ten-day heat period. Her physical endurance test results were incredible. She can absolutely handle ten days of intercourse without issue.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Do you want to know who she is? I could introduce you two.
Ning Xi stared at the screen, momentarily speechless.
To think that someone would try to match two complete strangers based solely on the length of their susceptibility and heat periods felt utterly ridiculous.
Ning Xi:
No, thank you. I really have no interest.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Think it over. This Omega is truly rare. I think you’d make a great match.
Zhen Qiuyun:
Ning Xi?
Ning Xi:
Thank you, but I’m really not considering it and I’m not interested.
Zhen Qiuyun:
You’ll regret it.
Ning Xi:
No, I won’t.
