Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 4
After class, Ning Xi went straight to the counselor’s office. Just like the female lead in the story, she planned to ask Fang Huailian to speak to Yu Qingxue’s team and help sign her up for the movie’s lead role audition.
But when she arrived, the office was empty.
The counselor’s office door was locked. Standing outside, Ning Xi hesitantly sent a message to Fang Huailian on WeChat. There was no reply. She called, but no one answered.
Ning Xi decided to eat first and come back later.
Earlier this month, the original Ning Xi had added 300 yuan to her meal card. She had about 150 yuan left. Eating steamed buns and pickled vegetables every day would just barely get her through the remaining days of the month.
By the time she arrived at the cafeteria, most of the students were already gone. The large hall was nearly empty, with only a few people scattered around.
Ning Xi bought one steamed bun and a pack of pickled vegetables for two yuan, then got herself a bowl of free soup and sat down to eat.
Since she came late, the steamed bun had already turned cold. The dry air had made the surface hard and dry, and it did not taste good.
Ning Xi could not handle spicy food, but she had accidentally bought the mildly spicy pickles. When she opened the packet and saw the red chili oil, she realized her mistake. Feeling disappointed, she set the pickles aside without touching them.
She took a bite of the bun and a sip of the soup. Halfway through her meal, someone suddenly shoved her from behind. It was so sudden that she was completely unprepared. Her face almost fell into her soup bowl.
“Hey, isn’t this Ning Xi? Having lunch, are you? Since you ran into us, it’s only polite to treat us.” A teasing voice came from behind. Then the table shook as someone sat down across from her.
Ning Xi gathered her messy long hair behind her shoulders and looked up, revealing her fair and delicate face.
Across from her sat a girl with bright red hair, a tear-shaped mole at the corner of her eye, and a wicked smile on her lips. Her golden contact lenses were full of malice. Both her ears were lined with odd-shaped earrings. She leaned back in her chair with one foot resting arrogantly on the table’s edge.
Thanks to the memories Ning Xi inherited, she immediately recognized who this was.
Zhu Lan’an, a freshman at Beihua Academy, came from a powerful family in Beihai City. Within three days of arriving at school, she had gathered a group of followers and became known as the tyrant of Beihua. Most students avoided her.
Qi Huaihuai, the female lead’s childhood friend from the orphanage, had also enrolled at Beihua Academy this year. For some reason, Zhu Lan’an had taken an interest in her.
Zhu Lan’an kept pestering Qi Huaihuai, who was clearly annoyed. The female lead, who had feelings for Qi Huaihuai, could not stand by and watch. She stood up for her and asked Zhu Lan’an to stop harassing her.
That was when Zhu Lan’an began to hate the female lead.
Just a few days ago, it was Zhu Lan’an and her followers who threatened the female lead in the restroom.
“I don’t have money to treat you.”
The female lead had applied for financial aid. Normally, Beihua Academy gave her 800 yuan each month for meals, but Zhu Lan’an had taken 500 of it from her. That was why she had to live off buns and pickles.
When Zhu Lan’an saw Ning Xi’s face, her expression changed slightly. Without thinking, she lowered her foot and sat up straighter.
One of her followers leaned over and whispered, “Boss, I think we got the wrong person. Ning Xi isn’t this pretty.”
Zhu Lan’an stopped smiling. She looked Ning Xi up and down and asked, “You look a lot like Ning Xi. Are you her relative?”
Ning Xi said nothing. The way she looked at Zhu Lan’an was hard to describe.
Zhu Lan’an grew irritated and slapped the table. “What’s with that look?”
Her three followers shouted, “How dare you look at our boss like that? Do you still want to stay at Beihua?”
“I already stood up to her.” Ning Xi had lost her appetite. She stood up and said, “I’m not her relative. I am Ning Xi.”
Zhu Lan’an clearly knew Ning Xi was an orphan. Asking if she had any relatives was ridiculous.
Her followers stared in disbelief. “You can’t be Ning Xi!”
Zhu Lan’an narrowed her eyes. Her long fake eyelashes looked like two small fans, fluttering oddly.
“Are you kidding me? You think I wouldn’t recognize Ning Xi?” Zhu Lan’an stood up, only to realize she was shorter than the girl in front of her. A flicker of unease passed through her eyes.
“Believe me or not. It doesn’t matter.” Ning Xi turned to leave.
Zhu Lan’an had a strange and dangerous vibe. Ning Xi wanted nothing to do with her.
“You think you can just walk away? Do I mean nothing to you?” Zhu Lan’an stepped in front of her, clearly upset.
Ning Xi looked confused. “Why should you mean anything to me? I don’t like you.”
Zhu Lan’an was stunned. Her ears, pierced and scarred, turned bright red. “W-Who said I want you to like me?”
“Good.” Ning Xi walked around her and left.
A gust of wind blew through the door. Ning Xi’s long hair floated up and lightly brushed Zhu Lan’an’s shoulder. Zhu Lan’an felt a strange tingling sensation on her left side.
This time, she did not stop Ning Xi from leaving. Instead, she stood still and stared at Ning Xi’s back. Her eyes were bloodshot. A slow, determined smile formed on her lips, like a hunter watching her prey.
Once Ning Xi was out of sight, she quietly let out a breath of relief.
Zhu Lan’an was one of the eleven Omega characters who became obsessed with the female lead. Before differentiating, she had feelings for Qi Huaihuai. But when Qi Huaihuai turned out to be an Omega, Zhu Lan’an also became an Omega. The law did not allow two Omegas to be together.
Even so, Zhu Lan’an refused to give up on Qi Huaihuai at first. She was used to being dominant and did not care that she was now an Omega. Later, she smelled the female lead’s scent on Qi Huaihuai and became interested in her instead.
The female lead disliked Zhu Lan’an and even hated her. But Zhu Lan’an, under the influence of her pheromones, became dangerously obsessed. She used all the same tactics she had tried on Qi Huaihuai, but the female lead never showed any weakness.
Zhu Lan’an eventually realized that the female lead would never love her. So she decided to claim her body instead. One day, during the female lead’s heat cycle when she was with Qi Huaihuai, Zhu Lan’an barged in and joined them.
From then on, every time the female lead was in heat, Zhu Lan’an would find her no matter who she was with and force herself into the situation.
When Ning Xi read this part in the novel, only one word came to mind. Insane.
Being targeted by Zhu Lan’an was definitely not a good thing.
In a private room of a traditional-style restaurant, the sound of soft instruments filled the air.
Fang Huailian clinked glasses with Yu Qingxue and sighed. “Life really turns out differently for everyone. Back at Beihua Academy, you were ranked last in the acting class, and I was first. Now you’ve become an international film queen. You left the industry, started your own company, and became a successful director. As for me, I just wanted a stable job. I’m still working as a counselor.”
“Every time someone calls me Teacher Fang, I feel like it’s a joke. I wish I really were a teacher.”
Yu Qingxue gently swirled the wine in her glass. The rich color reflected her beautiful face.
She and Fang Huailian had been college classmates and best friends. Fang Huailian always complained when they met, and Yu Qingxue was used to it. She lowered her eyes and took a small sip of wine. Her lips, stained by the elegant red liquid, looked stunning under the soft light.
She spoke slowly and casually. “I told you long ago. If you want to become an acting teacher, it’s easy. Just sign with my company, star in a few films. As soon as you become popular, Beihua Academy will be begging you to come back and teach.”
Yu Qingxue was not speaking at random. Beihua Academy had always had this tradition. The year she won her international film award, her alma mater, Beihua Academy, awarded her the title of Honorary Professor.
A faint blush appeared on Fang Huailian’s face. “Yujing said being an actress is too exhausting. She doesn’t want me to suffer. It’s fine really. Being a counselor is actually nice. Short work hours, long vacations.”
Yu Qingxue remained silent. She deeply suspected that Fang Huailian’s earlier complaints were just a setup so she could listen to her talk sweetly about her marriage.
“You and Guan Yujing have been together for seven years, haven’t you? Not hitting that seven-year itch yet?”
“Don’t jinx it! We’ve only been married for three years. We’re still far from that point. And even when the seventh year comes, Yujing wouldn’t dare to get itchy. She still hugs me every day and calls me ‘my sweet little darling.’”
Fang Huailian and Guan Yujing were a Beta couple. They started dating in high school. Yu Qingxue had witnessed their long-distance relationship throughout four years of college and even officiated their wedding. Her admiration back then had only grown deeper over time.
“I want to fall in love too,” Yu Qingxue said wistfully.
Fang Huailian looked at her seriously. “Never settle when it comes to love. If you’re going to be with someone, choose the best.”
She didn’t know why, but when she said that, an image of Ning Xi suddenly flashed in her mind.
Fang Huailian immediately pushed that thought away. It was too unrealistic. Ning Xi was five years younger than Yu Qingxue. Someone that young would be far too immature for her.
No one understood Yu Qingxue’s inner world better than Fang Huailian. She knew how deeply emotional and intense her friend could be. Yu Qingxue needed someone who could accept and support her completely. Someone too young would likely hurt her rather than love her.
Fang Huailian only wanted her friend to experience true happiness in love.
“By the way, Qingxue, did you go over the casting submissions for the film’s lead role? Anyone catch your eye?” she asked.
Yu Qingxue rested her pale cheek against her delicate hand. Her gaze drifted lazily toward Fang Huailian, her eyes sparkling. “I haven’t looked yet. I don’t really feel anything from photos. I need to meet them in person.”
Even after all these years, Fang Huailian was still not immune to the seductive look in her friend’s eyes. She let out a dramatic gasp and surrendered playfully. “I know your charm has nowhere to go, but please don’t waste it on a married woman.”
Yu Qingxue stopped teasing him. She leaned back into her chair with a boneless grace, her whole body relaxed. “It’s not my fault I’m charming. It’s your fault your willpower is weak.”
They exchanged a few more lighthearted jokes before Fang Huailian returned to the earlier topic.
“One of my students just went through her differentiation this week. I only found out this morning after she got back from the hospital. She became an Alpha. Her appearance and presence are both top-tier. I think you’d like her.”
Yu Qingxue raised an eyebrow, a faint smile forming on her lips. “What, are you trying to introduce your student to me as a girlfriend? If she’s as good as you say, I wouldn’t mind.”
Fang Huailian gave her a light glare. “Stop joking. She’s five years younger than you. I just feel bad she missed the application deadline for the lead role. I was wondering if you could sneak her info in somehow.”
Yu Qingxue was instantly displeased. “What does five years matter? Do I look that old to you? I’m fine with being introduced to a girlfriend. But sneaking files in? Absolutely not.”
“I’m not kidding,” Fang Huailian said. “Her looks are genuinely stunning. I honestly haven’t seen an Alpha in the industry who looks better than her. That’s the only reason I brought her up.”
Yu Qingxue finally showed some interest after hearing such high praise. “Alright. She’s your student, and I trust your judgment. No need to sneak anything. Just have her come see me now. I’ll give her an early audition.”
