- Chapter 16 - "–––Or Do You Want to Eat Together?"
“Oh, roasted sweet potatoes.”
Wakana pointed to a car playing cheerful music as it drove by.
“Do you want some?”
“Hmm. I do, but one whole one is too much.”
After mulling it over for a moment, Wakana shifted her gaze toward me.
“Let’s share one.”
“…Sure, I guess.”
There’s something about autumn that makes you crave roasted sweet potatoes. Not the store-bought ones, but the kind sold at food stalls.
With no reason to decline, I found myself sitting on a nearby bench with Wakana, eating roasted sweet potatoes together.
“Here’s your half,” Wakana said, breaking the potato in two and handing me my portion.
“Thanks.”
The freshly split potato glowed with a golden hue, the rising steam carrying its enticing aroma.
Biting into it, the gentle sweetness filled my mouth.
“…It’s delicious.”
“Good. I’m glad you like roasted sweet potatoes too, Sana.”
“…Yeah. I guess I do.”
I replied simply, but Wakana’s expression turned surprisingly serious as she stared at me.
“…Can you say that again?”
“Say what?”
“You know… that ‘I like it’ part.”
Her voice was faint, almost a whisper. Wakana averted her gaze, her embarrassment apparent.
“…Do you really want me to?”
Wakana gave a small nod, still avoiding my eyes.
“Well, I’m not going to.”
“Ehh!?”
She snapped her gaze back to me, her eyes wide in disbelief. Her reaction was so unexpected, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“I never thought Sana would tease me like this… I’ll get back at you for sure…”
The way she bit her lip in frustration only made her even more amusing, and I couldn’t stop a small chuckle from escaping.
But that small laugh was more than enough to provoke her.
“–––Ah.”
Out of nowhere, Wakana leaned in and bit into my half of the sweet potato.
It had to be hot. But she didn’t pull away, her lips pressing lightly against the skin, rolling the potato in her mouth. Eventually, with a soft, wet sound, she withdrew.
“What are you doing?”
“I don’t know? I just suddenly wanted to eat yours.”
That couldn’t be true. They were the same, split evenly.
“Well? Go ahead and eat it.”
Wakana smiled, but her eyes held no humor. The air around her carried an uneasy tension.
I glanced at the potato in my hand. Its golden surface was noticeably damp now. The traces of Wakana’s saliva were easy to see.
I didn’t think it was dirty. It wasn’t like she had deliberately slobbered on it or anything. But the fact that it was Wakana who had done this was the issue.
“…”
A part of Wakana was now in my hands. Her lips, her saliva, the texture of her tongue—all of it lingered in the space she’d touched. I could almost imagine her pink lips parting to reveal her mouth’s secrets.
“It’ll get cold, you know?”
Wakana wasn’t letting up. She wouldn’t stop until I followed through. But I couldn’t bring myself to lift the potato to my lips.
Because this wasn’t just about sharing food—it was about intertwining our essence. Consuming a piece of Wakana that no one else knew existed, making it a part of myself.
“–––Or do you want to eat together?”
“–––What!?”
Wakana leaned closer to my potato again, her gaze fixed on me.
“Eat together…?”
“Yeah, the two of us. Starting at opposite ends, meeting in the middle. The closer we get to the center, the more we’ll intertwine… Isn’t that nice?”
Of course, it wasn’t nice. That wouldn’t just mean sharing a part of Wakana—it would mean sharing her completely. Our lips might touch. Our saliva would mix, connecting us with silken threads. We’d peck at each other, the sweet aroma filling our mouths as we got lost in the moment. Feeling her breath against me, I’d surrender to the ticklish thrill of it all.
And beyond that–––
“No way! Absolutely not!”
“Why not?”
“B-Because…”
I couldn’t meet Wakana’s eyes. If I did, I’d feel her again. I couldn’t let that happen. I couldn’t let her know how close I was to giving in to her temptation.
“–––Are you already wet?”
Her voice whispered into my ear, every word laced with dominance and control. I froze.
“Or… have you been wet for a while now?”
Her eyes dipped briefly, adding a sharp edge to the tension that already gripped me.
“S-Stop it… I’m sorry. It was my fault…”
All I could manage was a meek apology. I had to end this. If Wakana kept pushing, something irreversible would happen.
“Is that so? Then how about a passionate kiss as your penance?”
“–––What!? No way…”
Wakana’s teasing grin stayed with me for far longer than I wanted it to. By the time our sweet potatoes had gone cold, her mischievous smile still lingered, unrelenting.
